Maryland center Derik Queen praised in 2025 NBA draft by ESPN analyst
Maryland center Derik Queen praised in 2025 NBA draft by ESPN analyst Derik Queen is a potential lottery pick in the 2025 NBA draft because of his skill set, and the former Maryland center recently earned high praise from ESPN analyst Paul Biancardi. Queen was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, averaging 16.5 points, nine rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks in 36 games on 52.6% shooting from the field. He helped lead the Terrapins to their first Sweet 16 appearance since 2016. The 6-foot-10 standout is highly touted for his versatility on offense and ability to score in various ways. He is a tremendous competitor and demonstrated throughout the year his ability to impact games on defense, traits that earned him a high distinction from Biancardi. Queen, also an AP All-American honorable mention, set the program freshman scoring record (594 points) after registering 12 20-point games and 15 double-doubles, which led all first-year players. He ranked sixth in scoring average among Power Four freshmen. The 20-year-old competed in the combine last month, registering a 7-foot wingspan in the anthropometric measurement testing. He dazzled with that length with the Terrapins, another key trait that makes him an intriguing prospect at the next level. Queen had a tremendous rise up draft boards throughout the season and is on the verge of becoming a first-round pick, as a result. He projects to have a bright future ahead and should fit in well with teams drafting in the lottery on June 25.

Report: Knicks denied permission to interview Kidd, Udoka, and Finch in coaching search
They appear to be trying to find out if any coaches they like who already have jobs might be added to their list along with the ones who are currently available. Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up The Mavericks confirmed Thursday that a request was submitted and denied. Advertisement ESPN first reported on all three decisions and added later Wednesday that the Knicks had also been denied by Atlanta in a request to interview Hawks coach Quin Snyder. Knicks president Leon Rose interviewed Kidd and Udoka in 2020 before hiring Thibodeau. Both also played for the Knicks, with Kidd ending his Hall of Fame career on the team that reached the 2013 playoffs — which was the Knicks' last appearance before Thibodeau's arrival. Kidd led the Mavericks to the 2024 NBA Finals, Finch has guided the Timberwolves to back-to-back trips to the West finals, and Udoka took a young Rockets team to the No. 2 seed in the West this season — so none of the organizations are interested in searching for a new coach. Advertisement Former Celtics coach Ime Udoka guided a young Houston Rockets squad to the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference this season. Godofredo A. Vásquez/Associated Press There are plenty of potential candidates, some who just became available this season. The Denver Nuggets fired Michael Malone, who led them to the 2023 NBA championship, in the final week of the regular season. The Memphis Grizzlies fired Taylor Jenkins, who guided them to a pair of 50-win seasons, and Sacramento fired Mike Brown — like Thibodeau a two-time NBA Coach of the Year — earlier in the season. Thibodeau thanked the organization, players, coaches, and fans in a New York Times ad on Wednesday, saying the experience with the Knicks was 'something I will never forget.'

Thunder vs. Pacers: Live updates, highlights from Game 3 of the 2025 NBA Finals
The Oklahoma City Thunder-Indiana Pacers 2025 NBA Finals series is headed to Indianapolis for Games 3 and 4 of the series, currently tied 1-1. Game 3 is set for Wednesday, June 11 at 8:30 p.m. ET from Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This year's NBA MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, & Co. are looking to build off a dominant Game 2 performance over the Pacers, besting Indy 123-107 after falling short in their first meeting. Advertisement Through two games in the series, SGA is averaging a whopping 46 points per game, including 5 rebounds and 5.5 assists, well out-performing Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, who totaled just 31 points combined over two outings to SGA's 72. Still, there's no doubt that the Pacers wouldn't have been in a position for a tied series at this point without his stunning game-winning 3-pointer in Game 1. Haliburton has, no doubt, been the magic that's fueled the Pacers' miraculous postseason and kept them in it. He's shot a ridiculous 13-of-15 on shots to tie or take a lead in the last two minutes of a game this postseason, per ClutchPoints — precisely the reason he's earned his new nickname of "The Moment." One team will be a step closer to the NBA championship with a win Wednesday night. We'll soon find out which one.
