The country's electric vehicle landscape is evolving rapidly, with local manufacturers introducing innovative models that not only meet domestic demand but also raise the bar for EVs on a global scale. These vehicles showcase India's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting eco-friendly transportation solutions.
Ultraviolette Tesseract:
The Ultraviolette Tesseract is among first high-performance electric scooters in India featuring ARAS 360 awareness, blind spot detection mirrors, and a smart dashcam.
Powertrain: The Tesseract is equipped with an SRB-6 battery pack, providing a range of 261 km (IDC range) on a single charge. It offers three battery capacities: 3.5 kWh, 5 kWh, and 6 kWh. This electric scooter can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in just 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 125 km/h.
Price: Initially, the scooter was offered at an introductory price of Rs 1.20 Lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 50,000 buyers. Currently, the price of the electric scooter starts from Rs 1.45 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Benchmark Set: Inspired by combat helicopters, the Ultraviolette Tesseract revolutionized the electric scooter market by offering better performance metrics compared to the traditional EV scooters along with multiple segment first safety features atypical of electric two-wheelers.
Mahindra BE 6:
The Mahindra BE 6 features a futuristic, sleek coupe-SUV design with a sloping roofline that gives it a sporty appeal. It positions itself as a strong competitor in the global electric SUV market.
Powertrain: The BE 6 offers two battery options, a 59 kWh battery that delivers 167.6 hp of power and a 79 kWh battery that provides 207.12 hp of power, both generating 380 Nm of torque. The 59 kWh battery offers a range of up to 557 km, while the 79 kWh battery provides an extended range of up to 638 km.
Price: The Mahindra BE 6 is priced starting from Rs 19.40 Lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 27.40 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Benchmark Set: The BE 6 utilizes Mahindra's new INGLO platform, designed specifically for electric vehicles. Featuring a rear-wheel-drive system and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds, combining long-range capabilities with advanced technology in the electric SUV segment.
Tata Harrier.ev:
Built on Tata's Gen 2 EV platform, the Harrier.ev retains the robust design of its diesel counterpart while incorporating electric features such as a sealed grille, new bumpers, and aerodynamic alloy wheels.
Powertrain: The Harrier.ev is equipped with high-capacity battery packs of 65 kWh and 75 kWh. It features a front motor with a power output of 155.8 hp and a rear motor with 234.7 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds. With fast charging capabilities of 1.5 C, it can achieve a range of 250 km in only 15 minutes. With the Harrier.ev, Tata finally has an all-new AWD SUV.
Price: Tata Motors has launched the Harrier.ev in India with an introductory price of Rs 21.49 Lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the Harrier.ev will commence on July 2, 2025.

It supports fast charging from 10 percent to 100 percent in 40 minutes using a 60 kW DC charger, or in about 6 hours and 36 minutes with a 7.2 kW AC charger.
Price: The Nexon.ev is priced starting from Rs 12.45 Lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 16.99 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Benchmark Set: The Tata Nexon.ev is one of the first electric vehicles introduced in India. It has become the best-selling electric SUV, pioneering mass EV adoption with over 50,000 units sold and extensive real-world usage. The Nexon.ev has set benchmarks in both affordability and performance.
Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2
The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 showcases India's progress in electric mobility, combining high performance with innovative technology.
Powertrain: The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is available in two variants, the standard model offers a 27 kW motor and a 7.1 kWh battery for a range of 211 km, while the Recon variant features a 30 kW motor and a 10.3 kWh battery, extending the range to 323 km. It achieves a top speed of 155 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds.
Price: The standard variant of the F77 Mach 2 starts at Rs 2.99 Lakh (ex-showroom), while the Recon variant is priced at Rs 3.99 Lakh (ex-showroom).

While they were dismissed as mere speculations, the IAS coaching institute has now said it was indeed exploring funding options last year, including through Physics Wallah, but ultimately decided not to go ahead with it. Four major coaching institutes—Drishti IAS, Chaitanya Academy, Rau's IAS Study Circle, and Sarathi IAS—were being considered for potential acquisition as part of a larger consolidation wave in the Indian EdTech and test prep market. With online-first players like Physics Wallah and Unacademy looking to strengthen their offline footprint and diversify into civil services coaching, talks with these legacy UPSC institutes had emerged as strategic opportunities to tap into a loyal student base, particularly in Hindi-medium and regional markets. Drishti IAS was founded in 1999 by popular teacher Vikas Divyakirti in Mukherjee Nagar. It became one of the most well-known institutes for Hindi-medium UPSC aspirants. The Delhi-based institute reported a revenue of Rs 405 crore and a profit after tax of Rs 90 crore in FY24. Vikas Divyakirti's popularity is such that he even appeared in the movie 12th fail, Videos of his classes and lectures receive millions of views on social media. The institute moved to Noida last year after infrastructure issues in Mukherjee Nagar were flagged, following the death of three UPSC aspirants in another institute in the Old Rajinder Nagar area, and fire incidents at other institutes in Mukherjee Nagar. Coaching institutes came under intense scrutiny by public and authorities for infrastructure lapses and licensing issues after these incidents. Sources at Drishti IAS said the institute remains profitable. Physics Wallah is known for offering affordable online coaching. It first gained popularity through YouTube and later launched online courses for JEE and NEET aspirants for admission in engineering and medical courses. But over the last few years, it has been expanding its offerings. It entered the UPSC coaching space after joining forces with OnlyIAS in 2022. The potential acquisition of Drishti IAS was seen as a strategic move to bolster Physics Wallah's offline presence and diversify its portfolio ahead of its planned IPO. Rs 500 notes to be discontinued from March next year? Here's what govt says
Representational Image The Central government has rejected the claims made in a YouTube video that the Rs 500 currency not would be phased out from circulation from March next year. In a post on X, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) fact-checked the claim, stating that no such announcement has been made by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and Rs 500 notes would continue to remain legal tender. 'A YouTube video on the YT Channel 'CAPITAL TV' (capitaltvind) falsely claims that the RBI will discontinue the circulation of Rs 500 notes by March 2026. RBI has made NO such announcement. Rs 500 notes have NOT been discontinued and remain legal tender,' the PIB informed. The fact-check came after a video on video-sharing platform YouTube claimed that the government was planning to phase out the Rs 500 note from March next year, akin to how Rs 2000 currency notes were removed from circulation. The 12-minute video, which has over 5 lakh views on YouTube, has been widely shared on other social media platforms. However, authorities have rejected the claims made in the video, and urged netizens to always verify such information from official sources. 'Don't fall for such misinformation. Always verify news from official sources before believing or sharing it,' the PIB added in its post. Earlier, the government phased out the Rs 2000 notes, urging people to deposit this denomination in the banks. However, Rs 2000 are still considered legal tender, and Rs 6,181 crore worth of notes are still in circulation, according to media reports. Currently, Rs 500 is most widely-circulated currency note in India, accounting for 41% of the total notes, with an 86% share in transactions done via cash. The government is urging citizens to use smaller denominations and digital payments, but Rs 500 notes continues to be a big part of cash transactions in the country.

Poco F7 to launch in India later this month: Here's what we know so far
Xiaomi sub-brand Poco on Friday, June 6, announced that it will be launching the Poco F7 in India sometime later this month. The news comes from the Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart, which recently put up a special microsite for the upcoming phone. The Flipkart page does not give away the launch date, but the URL does mention that the phone will be coming sometime this month. As of now, not much is known about the smartphone, but several leaks and rumours have hinted that the smartphone will likely be based on the China-exclusive Redmi Turbo 4 Pro. The Poco F7 is rumoured to be powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the mid-range chipset with flagship-like performance that made its debut on the iQOO Neo 10. This will likely be accompanied by a huge 6.83-inch flat LTPO AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1.5K resolution and 1,800 nits of brightness. If the Poco F7 is the same as the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, the device will most likely come with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15 and have an optical in-display fingerprint scanner. Coming to the camera, the Poco F7 is rumoured to have a vertically aligned elliptical camera island that houses a Sony LYT-600 50MP primary camera in addition to an 8MP ultrawide shooter. Since this is a performance oriented device, it looks like the phone will be missing out on a telephoto shooter. The phone is also rumoured to come with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage and will be backed by a 7,550mAh Silicon Carbon battery that changes at 90W. However, it is unlikely to get wireless charging support. While the Chinese variant comes in three colourways – Black, White and Green, it is unclear if these colour options will find their way to India. Like its predecessor, the Poco F7 will be priced somewhere between Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000, but we will have to wait to know more.
