Vale of Clwyd MS Gareth Davies visits BBC Wales facility
Mr Davies, also the shadow cabinet secretary for culture, tourism, sport, and North Wales, visited the New Broadcasting House in Cardiff Central Square and was 'hugely impressed.'
The facility, which BBC Wales moved into in 2020, is considered one of the most advanced broadcasting centres in Europe, owing to its Live IP Core infrastructure.
Mr Davies said: "I was hugely impressed by the scale and sophistication of the facilities at BBC Wales and it's clear they're operating at the cutting edge of broadcasting."
He also commended the support BBC Wales provides to S4C, which is crucial for Welsh-language broadcasting.
Mr Davies said: "The passion and expertise of the staff are a powerful reminder of the creative talent we have here in Wales, and the BBC's world-class centre equips them to reach their full potential."
Gareth Davies MS was impressed with the facility While at the centre, Mr Davies noted the return of most staff to office work and discussed the importance of in-person collaboration in the creative industries.
The potential for increased television production in Wales was also a topic of conversation.
Mr Davies said: "It was encouraging to hear about the rise in TV drama productions being made in Wales and I'll continue to champion efforts to grow this further, as it brings not only investment but real opportunities for our communities and the tourism sector."
He also suggested the idea of enhanced coverage of the Wales Women's National Football Team, with the possibility of introducing studio-based broadcasting from stadiums during live matches.
Mr Davies finished by saying: "My sincere thanks to the team at BBC Wales for such a warm welcome and a truly insightful visit."

The BBC has been accused of ignoring biology with its choice of title for a new drama about a transgender teenager. What It Feels Like for a Girl follows the story of Byron, a 15-year-old boy questioning his gender identity while growing up in Nottingham in the early noughties. It is based on the autobiography of Paris Lees, a transgender writer, journalist and trans rights advocate. Gender critical feminists have questioned the programme's title, accusing the broadcaster of being 'regressive' and 'homophobic.' The row comes after the Supreme Court ruled that the terms 'woman' and 'sex' in the 2010 Equality Act 'refer to a biological woman and biological sex '. The programme was commissioned before the ruling and the BBC said the title was a reference to the Madonna single released in the era when the series is set. Maya Forstater, who set up the campaign group Sex Matters, said: 'Presenting the idea of an effeminate boy 'becoming a girl' as an edgy coming-of-age story is presenting delusion as self-discovery. 'This series will promote a regressive, dangerous, impossible and fundamentally homophobic dream to another generation of gay young men. 'It is the same unachievable fantasy that motivates the scandal of child gender medicine, which has harmed so many gay teenagers for life.' Conservative London Assembly member Susan Hall, who is a vocal supporter of women's rights, told The Telegraph: 'Sex does matter, we do have to protect women's spaces. 'Whilst the vast majority of trans people just want to lead their lives in peace and don't wish to harm anybody, it has been evident in the past that this isn't always the case. 'I was surprised to hear that the BBC gave it the title it has. Growing up as a girl, I can imagine it is very different growing up as a trans girl.' Byron, played by Ellis Howard, begins a journey of self-discovery and self-destruction to identify as a trans woman as the plot unfolds. The lead character is taken in by a drug dealer called Liam, who begins a relationship with Byron and forces them into selling sex. Howard said he hopes the series 'humanises trans stories', but also 'that it blows the doors off so that more trans stories get made.' Speaking to NME magazine, the 28-year-old added of the drama: 'It's an incredibly authored, queer, working-class story where we really get under the fingernails of a community we don't often see on screen.' Lees explains of the drama: 'This is a proudly working-class story, and it needed a cast who could bring it to life authentically. We've struck gold with these highly talented actors, some of whom are already familiar faces - and some who are about to be. 'The biggest challenge was always the lead role – we're following someone who's going from, in the eyes of the outside world, a schoolboy, right up to a trans woman starting university, and all that's in between. 'The moment I saw Ellis, I recognised something in him - a cheekiness, a delicateness, a complexity - and knew he was the one. 'And he rose to the challenge, again and again. The chemistry between El, Hannah, Laquarn and the rest of the Fallen Divas is something you can only dream of in drama.' A BBC spokesperson said: 'The title is shared with the book and also references the hit early noughties Madonna song released when the series is set. 'The BBC has a rich history of bringing a wide range of culturally significant works and voices to the screen – and adapting Paris Lees' acclaimed memoir is in line with this.'

Elsewhere, Manchester Thunder booked their tickets to the semi-finals with victory over LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons while Nottingham Forest kept their play-off hopes alive with a second win of the season over east Midlands neighbours Loughborough Lightning. At the Copper Box Arena, London Pulse made it back-to-back wins with victory over NIC Leeds Rhinos to move clear at the top of the table. Ice cold Andrew clinches win for Mavericks London Mavericks' Emily Andrew showcased nerves of steel to secure a last-gasp 69-67 win at Birmingham Panthers. With a minute left on the clock and the scores tied, Andrew confidently sunk a Soft and Gentle Super Shot to propel her side into the lead and earn a crucial three points for play-off chasing Mavericks. The goal shooter's feat capped off a dazzling offensive display as she fired home 18 goals and seven Soft and Gentle Super Shots to help tighten Mavericks' hold on fourth place. It was a back-and-forth affair in the first half, with Mavericks holding a slender 36-31 lead after the opening 30 minutes. In the second half, Panthers roared back to level the scores at 67-67 and set up a grandstand finish, but the visitors could only watch as Andrew as confidently converted her last-ditch attempt. Pulse too strong for Rhinos London Pulse reclaimed their place at the top of the table after a confident 73-50 win over NIC Leeds Rhinos. Thunder seal their final four spot Manchester Thunder edged a 59-54 victory over LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons at home to secure their spot in the top four. On a day that saw Taylor McKevitt and Josie Huckle both receive their 50th caps for the north west side, it was a tasty battle at the Belle Vue Arena. Thunder came into the match knowing victory would cement their place in the play-offs and came out of the blocks firing to take the early lead, with Huckle quickly shutting down any opportunities for their opposition. But with Dragons also putting in a strong defensive performance, it was not all going Thunder's way. The Manchester side held a 32-25 lead at the break but suddenly stumbled in the third quarter as Cardiff roared back into contention and within just three points. Clever use of the Soft and Gentle Super Shot by Chelsea Beard saw the Welsh side pile the pressure on their opposition in what was shaping up to be a thrilling finish. But it was ultimately the strong defensive partnership of Huckle and Nicola Smith that fired Thunder to a five goal victory, with four rebounds, five deflections and 10 gains between them. A close finish for Dragons saw the Welsh outfit clinch a losing bonus point. Forest come out on top in East Midlands derby Nottingham Forest held off a Loughborough Lightning fight back to beat the defending champions 66-62 on their home turf. Victory kept Forest's play-off hopes alive having now completed the double over the defending champions. The visitors extended their lead to 10 goals at the half, with a brilliant second quarter making all the difference as Rolene Streutker put in a stellar performance in the circle; the goal shooter sunk 41 goals over four quarters. With play-off hopes on the line, Lightning saw a late surge in the fourth quarter and used the Soft and Gentle Super Shot to their advantage as they closed the gap. But it was ultimately too much for Lightning to overcome as a dominant defensive performance from Tash Pavelin saw her awarded Kissimmee Player of the Match and helped her side get back to winning ways. Thorns felled by Kelpies Elsewhere, England Thorns succumbed to a whitewash in their three-game Aurora Series against Australia after a 64-32 defeat in their final encounter in London. The Test series was fought by the two sides in England for the first time but ended with a comprehensive 3-0 series win for the visitors after following up their 63-34 win in the first game by running out 62-30 winners in the second. A 31-16 deficit at half-time of the third Test was as good as it got for England as Australia pulled away in the second half.
