The Hoops No.1 appears to be winning the race to be fit in time for the Scottish Cup Final in two weeks against Aberdeen at Hampden.
He suffered a shoulder injury while playing for Denmark in March in their Nations League play-off defeat in Portugal.
Schmeichel was at the centre of massive controversy in his homeland after a columnist compared his efforts at punching the ball away to a 'child with polio', which sparked outrage in Denmark.
The Danish Players Union led a wave of revulsion about the comment, which was published in Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet and leading Danish stars backed the veteran keeper.
However, neither Kasper nor his famous father Peter have commented on it - until this week.
The 61-year-old former Manchester United and Manchester City star was attending the funeral of Danish agent Ole Frederiksen in Charlottenlund along with prominent ex-footballers.
They were all approached to be interviewed to pay tribute to him, but Schmeichel made it clear his thoughts on the controversy.
He said: "I will never ever talk to Ekstra Bladet because of the way you treated my son.
"And I say that here in the church."
Despite feeling the injury during the game, Schmeichel played on for the rest of the match, which took place on March 23.

Denmark boss Brian Riemer had used up all his substitutions by the time of the knock and therefore couldn't sub Schmeichel off.
Riemer insisted at the time that he would have taken Schmeichel off if he could.
He said: "It's 100 percent certain, he was injured. But we didn't have any more substitutions left.
"We talked about whether we should take him out. He didn't want to go out himself, and as long as he can stand in goal, it's an advantage to be 11.
"But if we could have put a new goalkeeper in, it would have been in place.
"I haven't watched it all, but I think Schmeichel makes some fantastic saves, including a penalty.

Hibs eye Ryan Porteous return and possible Scotland boost
With his future uncertain at Championship side Watford, Hibs were close to securing a return on loan for the fans' favourite in the final days of the January window. Beaten to the punch by Preston North End, the Easter Road club will study the financial implications of re-signing a player who played over 150 games for the club before moving to Vicarage Road in January 2023. David Gray's side missed out on a guaranteed £5 million UEFA windfall when Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup to claim group stage football in the Europa Conference League. With two years left on his current contract, a season-long loan deal looks the most realistic proposition. Key to persuading Porteous to return home is the lure of regaining his place in the Scotland squad before the World Cup qualifying campaign gets underway in Denmark in September. Capped 14 times for the senior team, Porteous made his last appearance as a late replacement for Anthony Ralston in the first leg win over Greece in the Nations League play-off. Scotland begin their campaign to reach next year's World Cup finals in Canada, Mexico and the United States when they play group favourites Denmark away in Copenhagen in September.

Celtic sign Tierney from Arsenal on five-year deal
June 10 (Reuters) - Celtic have signed Scotland left back Kieran Tierney from Arsenal on a five-year contract, the Scottish Premiership champions said on Tuesday. The 28-year-old, who made his senior debut at Celtic in 2015, will be back at the club after six years. He made 170 appearances for the Scottish club, scoring eight goals before joining Arsenal in 2019. "Everybody's known for a few months and just to be here with the Celtic strip on again just feels amazing," Tierney said. "... When you move away from home, you grow up, you learn different things. I was in Spain (with Real Sociedad on loan) for a year, learning a different language and playing in a different league, so I'm definitely a different person. "My ambition is just for Celtic to be as successful as possible, retain our place at the top and continue to win trophies and do well for Celtic."
