IIT Indore, IMT of France develop algorithm to prevent drone collisions
Researchers at IIT Indore and Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT), France, have developed a new collision-avoidance algorithm that promises safer, smoother, and more efficient flights for large UAV swarms, the official added.
This breakthrough was achieved through a joint research effort led by Prof Kapil Ahuja and researcher Amit Raj of Math of Data Science and Simulation (MODSS) Lab of IIT Indore's Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Prof Yann Busnel from IMT's Research Department.
'This innovation ensures safer and more efficient flights for massive drone swarms. By reducing complexity and avoiding unnecessary delays, it opens up possibilities for faster, more reliable unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations in diverse applications, �from disaster relief and surveillance to agriculture and logistics," Ahuja said.
'The algorithm was developed over nearly one-and-a-half years of collaborative research, especially for areas where large numbers of drones are required. The new algorithm combines the strengths of both approaches while eliminating their weaknesses. Using a UAV simulator that tracks positions at regular intervals (such as every second or every 0.1 second), the researchers developed a trajectory adjustment technique," he said.
When two UAVs are predicted to collide, the position of one UAV is slightly shifted. This shift gradually increases before the potential collision, peaks exactly at the predicted collision point, and then decreases smoothly afterward, he explained. PTI HWP LAL BNM

Dixon Tech, Chinas HKC Overseas form Rs 370-cr JV to make display modules
New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) Domestic electronics contract manufacturer Dixon Technologies has formed a Rs 370 crore joint venture for display modules manufacturing with Chinese company HKC Overseas. The Dixon Technologies-HKC Overseas joint venture is for manufacturing and selling of LCD and TFT-LCD modules that are used in electronic devices like TV, mobile phones etc for display, a regulatory filing said on Saturday. 'Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd has entered into a Term Sheet with HKC Corporation Ltd to form a joint venture for manufacturing of Liquid Crystal Modules, thin film transistor liquid crystal display modules, assembly of end products such as smartphones, TVs, monitors and auto displays and selling HKC branded end products in India," the filing said. HKC Overseas Ltd will acquire 26 per cent stake in Dixon Display Technologies Pvt Ltd (DDTPL) for USD 10.998 million, about Rs 95.5 crore and Dixon will acquire 74 per cent stake in the JV for USD 31.3 million, about Rs 274 crore in two tranches. 'The company, HKC and DDTPL have executed the SSHA (share subscription and shareholders' agreement) on August 16, 2025," the filing said. Dixon has been on a spree of forming joint ventures with Chinese technology companies. Last month, the company had announced a JV with Chinese electronic component firms — Chongqing Yuhai Precision Manufacturing Co Ltd and the Indian arm of Kunshan Q Technology — for manufacturing and sales of electronic components used in electronic devices like mobile phones and laptops, among others. India, South Korea resolve to set new industrial ambition in high-tech sectors
Agency: PTI New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) India and South Korea on Saturday resolved to expand their strategic partnership by setting new 'industrial ambition" in the areas of semiconductor, defence, clean energy, and artificial intelligence. Ways to ramp up the overall bilateral cooperation figured prominently in talks between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his visiting South Korean counterpart, Cho Hyun. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Jaishankar and Hyun agreed to set new industrial ambitions, especially in high-tech sectors such as AI, semiconductors, clean energy, shipbuilding, and the defence industry. The ministers took stock of bilateral cooperation, including in the political, security, trade and economy, technological, and people-to-people domains, it said. In a social media post, Jaishankar described the talks as 'productive". 'Held productive discussions on advancing our bilateral cooperation in trade, manufacturing, maritime and people-to-people exchanges as well as new opportunities in AI, semiconductors, clean energy and defence," he said. Jaishankar said he and Hyun also exchanged perspectives on the Indo-Pacific region and contemporary global developments. 'Appreciated our deepening convergences and growing engagement as our Special Strategic Partnership completes 10 years," he added. In his opening remarks at the meeting, Jaishankar also thanked Seoul for its condemnation of the horrific April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The external affairs minister also made a mention of Seoul's support to an Indian parliamentary delegation that visited South Korea in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. 'You have been barely a month in the job (as the foreign minister), the fact that you are here literally a day after your National Day, and our National Day, says a lot really about the value we attach to the relationship," Jaishankar said. The India-South Korea ties have been on an upswing in the last few years, especially in the areas of trade and defence. The MEA said Jaishankar and Hyun reaffirmed the strong and growing 'special strategic partnership" between the two countries. The partnership is rooted in shared democratic values, mutual trust, shared economic interests, and commitment to regional and global peace and stability, it said. Mahindra eyes 350-acre land acquisition in Igatpuri
Mahindra & Mahindra is looking to expand its Igatpuri plant in Maharashtra, aiming to address the growing demand. The automaker recently revealed that it has submitted a letter of interest to the Maharashtra government to acquire 350 acres of land in Igatpuri. Jejurikar further noted that the acquisition is still in its early stages, and will go through a whole process of due diligence, and then the land purchase approvals.
