Cops yet to uncover motive behind boy's murder, suspect uncooperative, say cops
He said that the main suspect, the boy's 36-year-old biological father, has been arrested and preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have been experiencing marital problems.
"The post-mortem began at noon on Tuesday (July 29). We were informed that the suspect had domestic issues and is in the process of getting a divorce. He has not been cooperative in the investigation," he told Bernama here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the boy's mother was at the Rembau Hospital forensic unit to identify the body, accompanied by close family members from Johor Baru.
Ahmad Dzaffir told the media on Monday that the boy's body was found at around 4.30pm.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Separately, Iskandar Puteri district police chief ACP M. Kumarasan confirmed that a man had been remanded for seven days from July 25 over the investigation. The suspect had initially lodged a police report claiming the child had gone missing in Bukit Indah on July 24.
Kumarasan said the suspect originally claimed that the boy had disappeared at about 4pm on July 23, after he left the child alone in a car while he went to purchase food.
The suspect is also being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for lodging a false police report. – Bernama

The medical team estimated the victim died between 9 am and 11 am on July 23. Johor police will also charge the suspect with multiple offences, including domestic violence and assault. He is expected to be charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act 1994 read together with Section 326A of the Penal Code, for allegedly assaulting his wife, as well as Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001 for child neglect. The suspect's wife had lodged a report on July 22, claiming the suspect, who also took their only child away, physically abused her.

Inspector-general of police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said police have detected the spread of information and a child's pictures linked to the Zara Qairina case by irresponsible parties on social media. He stated that the shared information is inaccurate and has the potential to confuse the public, besides potentially affecting the ongoing investigation and hindering the process of justice for all involved. 'The entire investigation process for the case, including the post-mortem issue, is being conducted according to existing procedures and legal provisions, and all parties are advised to stop any action of uploading or sharing unverified information, including disclosing information related to the case investigation,' he said in a statement last night. Mohd Khalid said the act of disclosing information related to the case can be investigated under Section 15 of the Child Act 2001, which involves a prohibition on revealing the identity, address, school name, and pictures of the child involved, as well as Section 203A of the Penal Code for offenses related to the disclosure of information. 'The individuals involved can also be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of a network facility or network service. Adherence to the law is the basis of national peace and well-being. Any violation will be met with firm action in accordance with existing provisions,' he said.
