Apple's entire iPhone 17 family to be made in India for the US market from the beginning
Vlad, 19 August 2025 For a while now, Apple has been diligently working towards reducing its manufacturing dependence on China, and it looks like this is finally going to pay off in a big way. According to a new report, the iPhone 17 family will also be made in India from the beginning - in fact, production has already started ahead of the rumored early September unveiling. Leaked image showing iPhone 17 family dummy units The devices it will sell in the US will be sourced from India, in order to avoid the US government's new tariffs on Chinese-made goods. To achieve this, Apple has expanded iPhone production in India at five factories, including a pair which were recently opened by Tata Group and Foxconn. Interestingly, Tata Group's share of India's iPhone manufacturing will become around 50%. This is going to be the first time when all new iPhone models will ship to the US from India from launch. Even before, the value of iPhone exports from India has climbed to $7.5 billion from April to July. In early 2026, the iPhone 17e will also be made in India for the US market.
