Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson suspends re-election campaign
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson has announced that she is temporarily suspending her campaign for re-election.
In a Facebook post, Hutson cited the current investigation into the prisoner escapes that occurred at Orleans Justice Center as her reasoning for the suspension.

'I cannot spend a moment putting politics over your needs. Now is the time to focus on security, accountability, and public safety' Hutson said.

Separate crashes in Lafourche, Terrebonne parishes leave cyclists dead
TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating separate crashes in Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes that left two cyclists dead on Sunday, June 1. LSP officials said troopers responded to the first crash in Terrebonne Parish around 8:30 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 57 near Cedar Grove Road. According to the LSP, Francis was riding the bicycle 'with no lights or reflective material' at the time of the crash. Around 10:30 p.m., LSP troopers said they responded to a crash on Louisiana Highway 308 at the intersection with Louisiana Highway 657 in Lafourche Parish. According to troopers, Bourg rode the bicycle through a red light, causing the Acura to hit it while going through the intersection. Bourg was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The driver of the Acura was uninjured and wearing a seatbelt. City of New Orleans offering an amnesty program for past-due parking, traffic tickets
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The City of New Orleans will offer a limited time amnesty program for past-due parking and traffic camera tickets. According to city officials, the program will allow people to pay their tickets without late fees until Aug. 31. Anyone with a parking ticket more than 30 days old or a traffic camera ticket more than 60 days old that was issued before June 1 can have late fees waived. New Orleans Business and External Services Deputy CAO Austin Wilty said the city is owed over $180 million in unpaid tickets. Kidnapping suspect wanted in Jefferson, St. Charles parish's
METAIRIE, La. (WGNO) — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, are asking for the public's help in finding a kidnapping suspect.
