City of New Orleans offering an amnesty program for past-due parking, traffic tickets
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The City of New Orleans will offer a limited time amnesty program for past-due parking and traffic camera tickets.
According to city officials, the program will allow people to pay their tickets without late fees until Aug. 31. Anyone with a parking ticket more than 30 days old or a traffic camera ticket more than 60 days old that was issued before June 1 can have late fees waived.
New Orleans Business and External Services Deputy CAO Austin Wilty said the city is owed over $180 million in unpaid tickets.

The program is open to everyone, regardless of where they live.
'This is about meeting people where they are,' said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. 'By removing late fees, we're making it easier for people to take care of what they owe and move forward; without added stress or penalties.'
The city has done this program before in 2019 and 2022.

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is trying to identify and locate a suspect in an art theft investigation. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice. According to police, the crime happened around 2:40 in the afternoon on May 22 at a business in the 2300 block of Saint Claude Avenue. Police also released a security camera image of the suspect. Social media video appears to show escaped New Orleans inmate Antoine Massey pleading case
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Law enforcement officials are investigating videos posted to social media that appear to show escaped New Orleans inmate Antoine Massey. In the videos posted to Instagram, a person who appears to be Massey speaks directly to the camera and refutes allegations regarding his original arrest and the circumstances surrounding his escape. Kidnapping suspect wanted in Jefferson, St. Charles parishes Louisiana State Police officials confirmed that they are aware of the video and issued a statement saying, 'All video and surveillance evidence is part of the ongoing investigation and search for the escaped inmates. We cannot provide additional information that may hinder investigative leads or law enforcement operations.' Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson issued the following statement: The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office is aware of a video circulating online that appears to show Antoine Massey, one of two individuals still at large following a recent escape from the Orleans Justice Center. 'If the individual depicted in the video is indeed Antoine Massey, we strongly urge him to come forward and turn himself in to the proper authorities. Cooperating with law enforcement is in his best interest and may help avoid additional charges. It is important that justice is served appropriately and that due process is followed.' Three arrested in St. John Parish drug bust
ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Three people have been arrested following a drug bust that happened in St. John the Baptist Parish on Friday, May 30. According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office, the arrests came following a months-long investigation, and particularly the investigation into one of the suspects, identified as 43-year-old Amandzo Williams, beginning back in late April. That investigation led to search warrants being executed on two homes in LaPlace, one in the 1100 block of Heather Lane and the other in the 100 block of Apricot Street, resulting in the arrests of three suspects, identified as Amandzo, 55-year-old Grant Williams and 42-year-old Namoel Richardson. New Orleans jail escapee releases videos, prompting search of home where they were made, source says Investigators also say that during the searches, the following items were seized: two firearms, around 100 grams of crack cocaine, around 1100 methamphetamine tablets, around 700 grams of marijuana and over $6,500 in cash.
