New Orleans police searching for suspect in St. Claude art heist
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is trying to identify and locate a suspect in an art theft investigation. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice.
According to police, the crime happened around 2:40 in the afternoon on May 22 at a business in the 2300 block of Saint Claude Avenue. Police also released a security camera image of the suspect.

The business is located inside the New Orleans Healing Center. Workers there told WGNO News that the suspect peeled two paintings from their frames in the library that's in the building.

Lori Vallow Daybell back in court, charged with conspiracy to murder ex nephew-in-law
PHOENIX, Arizona (ABC4) — Lori Vallow Daybell is back in court, charged with conspiring to commit the attempted murder of her former nephew-in-law, Brandon Boudreaux. Daybell is charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder of Brandon Boudreaux, the ex-husband of her niece, Melani. Boudreaux alleges he was shot at while returning home on Oct. 2, 2019. Daybell is representing herself in the trial, as she did in her Arizona trial on conspiring to murder her estranged husband, Charles Vallow, where she was found guilty. Daybell was also previously sentenced for murder and conspiracy to murder her children, Joshua 'JJ' Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ashlyn Ryan, 16. She was sentenced to prison and is currently serving five life sentences for the crimes. Lori Vallow Daybell given 5 life sentences in prison for murder of her two children In the final chapter of the Lori Vallow Daybell trials, prosecutors are accusing Daybell of conspiring with her late brother, Alex Cox, to kill Boudreaux outside of his Gilbert home back in 2019. He gave emotional testimony of the events that took place that day, where he was reportedly shot at, but not hit. 'This defendant, Lori Vallow Daybell, has been charged with conspiracy to commit the first-degree murder of Brandon Boudreaux on October 2nd of 2019. The evidence in this case will prove to you beyond reasonable doubt that this defendant conspired with Alex Cox and others to kill Brandon,' said Prosecutor Treena Kay. Boudreaux said he went to the gym, then came home, and as he was waiting for his garage door to open, he noticed a Jeep with Texas plates on the side of the road that was parked awkwardly. He said the car moved in, the back window of the Jeep opened, and he saw the muzzle of a gun. At this point, he heard a bang and the window of his Tesla shattered. He immediately started driving, thinking someone had shot at him. Boudreaux then called 911 as he drove to the neighborhood pool. Police arrived and he talked with officers, realizing that someone had tried to kill him. Lori Vallow Daybell found guilty of conspiracy to murder husband Boudreaux also asserted before the jury that Daybell played a part in his divorce, claiming she influenced his ex-wife, Melani Pawlowski. The second day of Daybell's trial in Arizona was held on Friday, as witnesses and evidence were presented before the jury. Daybell was asked to leave the room after an argument with the judge, in which she had raised her voice in discussing whether her 'good character' could later be presented before the court. As the day progresses, evidence and witness testimony continue to be presented before the jury, including forensic evidence relating to the gunshot residue, provided by the detective involved in the case. Three weeks later, two Orleans Parish jail escapees remain on the loose
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The hunt for Derrick Groves and Antoine Massey is entering its fourth week after they allegedly escaped from the Orleans Parish Justice Center, and new developments are still coming almost daily. Earlier this week, a home in the Fairgrounds neighborhood was raided after two videos surfaced online with Massey proclaiming his innocence. Bounty hunter believes escaped inmate Antoine Massey's days are numbered However, Groves hasn't been seen since the night of the escape, when he was reportedly caught on video walking down an alley on Baron Street. 'Massey appears to be, emboldened, almost taunting law enforcement and the community that that's in search for him, whereas Derek Groves has been as far as we know, he's been very quiet and is flying under the radar,' said CEO of New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation Melanie Talia. Deputy U.S. Marshal Brian Fair agrees, saying Groves appears to be lying low. As for Massey, Fair thinks the videos, and a photograph found on social media just yesterday could be a strategic move. 'I think he's trying to throw his case out, that he's innocent of the charges. Could he be pretending to be somewhere else? Yeah, absolutely. We don't know that for a fact. Could be trying to throw us off like 'I am in Houston' while he's still here or wherever he is,' said Fair. Legal analyst Barry Ranshi says the photo and videos could backfire in court for Massey. 'Can't imagine a scenario with that type of information that he is posting on the run, acknowledging that he left the facility, that it would help. The prosecutors will have to authenticate the evidence, assuming that they're able to meet that threshold, that would be evidence,' said Ranshi. 6-year-old, 12-year-old killed in Terrebonne Parish crash
TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A 6-year-old and a 12-year-old are dead following a crash that happened in Terrebonne Parish on Thursday afternoon, June 5. According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers with Troop C began investigating the crash, which happened on Louisiana Highway 311 near Fellowship Lane, around 4 p.m. Hammond man accused of arson, attempted murder Troopers say a 1999 Toyota Camry, driven by Cherri Breaux, was heading south on the highway when at the same time, a 2023 Kenworth was heading north. For reasons that are being investigated, the Toyota tried to turn left into a driveway, entering the path of the Kenworth and being hit on the right side. The driver of the Kenworth was properly restrained and wasn't injured. All four of the Toyota's occupants were unrestrained and taken to multiple hospitals. Breaux received minor injuries and a juvenile passenger was moderately injured. The 12-year-old and 6-year-old passengers were severely injured and died at the hospital. A standard toxicology sample was taken from Breaux for analysis as part of the ongoing invesstigation.
