Walmart reveals the price for its Chromecast replacement, and it's a bargain
With the retirement of the Google Chromecast line last year, users who want an easy way to get streaming features on their non-smart TV have had to look elsewhere. Thankfully alternatives like the Onn 4K streaming device from Walmart have been available to meet that need, functioning as a worthy replacement for the Chromecast.
Now, a product page on Walmart's website confirms that a new version of the streaming device, the Onn 4K Plus, is on its way. Spotted by 9to5Google, the listing reveals that the device will sell for just $30, which is $20 cheaper than the typical price of a 4K Chromecast, and like the Chromecast it has a small footprint and comes with a remote.

The newest version of the device will launch as a followup to the previous Onn 4K Pro from last year. The Onn 4K Pro got our recommendation ahead of the Google Chromecast thanks to its affordable price, functionality that covers all the essentials, and handy extras like the ability to find the remote (increasingly useful considering how remotes love to go off on expeditions of their own).
Now, with the Chromecast line discontinued, the Onn 4K Plus will look like an even more appealing option — perfect for if you have an old TV without streaming functions but you aren't wanting to upgrade to a smart TV just yet.
The details about the new Onn 4K Plus are fairly minimal right now, though the device will ship with 16 GB of storage and 2 GB of RAM. Walmart also says the product offers an updated Google TV OS and Google Assistant, with streaming support for at least YouTube, YouTube TV, Netflix, Disney+, Paramount+, and Prime Video. The device also supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, with a voice function for the remote control too.
It's not yet known when the device will be available, but given that the product listing has just gone up, it likely won't be long until the launch date. The product might also be available in stores soon as well as online, so if you're in the market for a streaming device then you might want to check out your local Walmart store to see if they have the device in stock.

Nintendo Switch 2: Early review thoughts from our first days with the gaming system
Now that most of us have managed to acquire our Switch 2, it's time to get playing. I mean, testing. The Nintendo Switch 2 became available in stores yesterday and started shipping out to those who got their pre-orders in. Those who pre-ordered via Walmart appeared to have been the luckiest, not only receiving their units first thing in the morning but also getting bonus snacks and drinks. Many of us who didn't get to pre-order one in April were pleasantly surprised that we were able to pick up the product in physical retail stores. While we've already gotten a couple of detailed hands-on opportunities for the Switch 2, this being day 2 means we now have unfettered access to the new $449 Nintendo portable console with its latest release software installed. The liveblog below is a reverse chronological collection of our thoughts, but here's a quick summary of where we left things yesterday: "We're nearing the end of the day, and here's a quick breakdown of where things stand and what we've covered in this liveblog. For those looking to acquire a Switch 2 on launch day, it seems like most people making trips to retail stores were largely successful, and stock seems to be plentiful, even without pre-orders. Those who are looking for supply online are having a tougher time, while members of our team who pre-ordered have had to wait a lot longer for their devices to show up. Our Aaron Souppouris has received his pre-ordered... controller. But his Switch 2 remains en route and has yet to show up at his doorstep. As for our review impressions so far — our senior reviewer Sam Rutherford is hard at work putting our official full review together, but he's been updating this liveblog with his evaluations today. He noted that, based on his lightmeter's readings, the Switch 2's display goes up to 450 nits with ambient brightness enabled, and tops out at 400 nits without. It's comparatively dim for a device with HDR, but the numbers can get higher depending on the game. Sam also hasn't found the device to run too hot so far and that's not just because of the new dock's built-in fan. To him the dock is sleeker and feels a bit more substantial than before. He found it odd that the dock has just three USB ports instead of four on the original Switch's dock, but the new console has one more socket, which sort of balances things out. Sam pointed out that the dock only has a single USB-C port, though, and that's reserved for power. With the remaining two ports on the dock being USB-A, you may need adapters to plug in your USB-C accessories, like the official Switch 2 camera, for instance. You could plug it directly into the Switch 2, but that's not ideal for people who frequently dock and undock their systems." Walmart Drone Deliveries Expand to 5 New Cities: How to Check Your Area's Eligibility

Walmart is expanding its drone deliveries to millions of potential customers in five new cities: Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. With this expansion, Walmart's drone deliveries are now available in seven cities, adding to existing operations in Dallas and Bentonville. It also makes Walmart the first retailer to scale airborne deliveries across five US states. 'We're pushing the boundaries of convenience to better serve our customers, making shopping faster and easier than ever before,' says Walmart SVP Greg Cathey. Walmart began drone deliveries in 2021 and teamed up with Alphabet-owned drone delivery provider Wing in 2023. Wing 'operates within FAA guidelines and flies its drones up to Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) up to a 6-mile aircraft range from the store,' Walmart says. With the latest expansion, Wing's drones will take off from 100 Walmart stores and deliver orders within 30 minutes. If you are in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, check your area's eligibility on If you are in Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, or Tampa, sign up on Wing's website to get notified when the service launches in your area. Drone deliveries were operational in Tampa before as well, but Walmart shut down operations in the Florida city, as well as Phoenix and Salt Lake City, last year to focus on improving in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Walmart customers can get groceries, health and wellness products, household essentials, and more delivered by a drone. Since launching the drone service, the retailer has completed 150,000 deliveries. Some of the most ordered items include bananas, lemons, limes, Great Value eggs, ice cream, and pet food. Amazon also offers drone deliveries through its Prime Air program but operates in fewer cities than Walmart. Currently, Prime Air is operational only in College Station, Texas, and the West Valley of the Phoenix, Arizona, metro area. The e-commerce giant is expected to test a new mode of delivery involving humanoid robots soon.
