— Wolves (@Wolves) July 17, 2025
Wolves have remembered Jota's contribution to the club with his induction into the hall of fame, which is run independently by a committee.
'There is such a feeling of sadness and disbelief around this awful tragedy that we wanted to make this tribute of our own as soon as we could,' said Wolves hall of fame chairman and club vice president John Richards on the club website.
'Like everyone else, we've been stunned by events, and we remember what a wonderful player Diogo was for Wolves during that unforgettable promotion season under Nuno and our early years back in the Premier League.
'His record of 44 goals at Wolves, and then 65 at Liverpool as a Premier League title winner, speaks volumes. So many fans across the game – especially in Portugal after he helped them win the Nations League this summer – are feeling his loss deeply. We saw no reason to delay this decision.
'We hope it will bring a little comfort to those who were close to Diogo and Andre, and we trust Wolves supporters will understand that this gesture is made with real love and admiration, and also fully justified.'
Wolves are planning to remember their former player further, firstly in the home friendly against Celta Vigo and then against Manchester City on the opening day of the season.

Viktor Gyokeres lists five reasons he chose Arsenal as Gunners finally complete transfer
Arsenal have confirmed the transfer of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP and the Sweden international can't wait to get to work under Mikel Arteta in the Premier League Viktor Gyokeres simply felt that Arsenal were the right club for him to take the next step in his career and is relishing the prospect of giving supporters something to cheer this season. The striker completed a £63.7million transfer and has committed to a long term deal at the Emirates following his move from Sporting CP. Gyokeres, 27, was among the most talked about players of the summer having been linked to a series of clubs. But a transfer proved far from easy as he fell out with Portuguese champions Sporting over the fee he would be permitted to leave for. Arsenal eventually came to an agreement for his signature and ended their search for a goalscorer having opted to move for Gyokeres over RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. And it appears Gyokeres did not require much convincing to provide his signature to the Gunners. The Sweden international, who bagged 54 goals last season, spoke effusively of why he committed to north London and listed reasons from the impact of Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta to the strength of the club and their style and Arsenal's history and fanbase. "I just felt that it was the right club for me," he said after signing. "What I heard from Mikel and Andrea when I was speaking with them, and just what I've seen in the past years, how they've been playing football. When I was playing against Arsenal last season, I could really feel it was a very strong team and very difficult to play against. "That made me choose Arsenal, and of course all the history the club has and the massive fanbase. It's been amazing to see all the support that they have already given me before I even arrived. That's what it's all about. It's going to be very nice to see them in the stadiums as well." Unsurprisingly, Arsenal's new no.14's mind is already on finding the back of the net. After struggling in his previous spell in the Premier League with Brighton, Gyokeres wants to put things right. "I always want to score,' he said. 'To be a part of this club and to score in this kit and with this badge in front of all the supporters, I can't wait. It will be an amazing feeling. "I started here [in England], it feels like a long time ago. I think I've improved a lot since then. Now I want to prove myself for real and perform together with the team. "It's a big honour to play for your country, and then to score goals for them is amazing. When I played at Sporting, I scored a few goals in the Champions League so I feel that I can be on that level as well. Now to come here to a club on Arsenal's level, I think it's going to help me perform even better with all the amazing players in this team. I'm really excited to get going."

Leeds United confirm £15.6m transfer of goalkeeper Lucas Perri from Lyon - with Daniel Farke's new No 1 able to throw the ball 50 METRES
Leeds United have signed goalkeeper Lucas Perri from Lyon in a deal worth £15.6million. The 27-year-old Brazilian is expected to become the new No 1 in place of Illan Meslier. Perri's medical took place at Leeds' pre-season training camp in Germany and he was confirmed by the club on social media on Saturday night. With Frenchman Illan Meslier falling out of favour last season, a new keeper has been at the forefront of Leeds' priorities ahead of their return to the Premier League. Perri becomes Leeds' seventh signing of the summer window - and went viral last season after recording a mammoth 50 metre throw during a match for Lyon. He began his career at Sao Paulo and spent time on loan at Crystal Palace, where he didn't play, and Nautico. Perri signed for Botafogo in 2022 before making the move to Lyon for £3.25M in January 2024. Last season, he made 45 appearances across all competitions and kept 13 clean sheets for the French side. Despite finishing sixth in Ligue 1, Lyon were initially relegated to Ligue 2 due to the poor state of their finances. But that decision was overturned after the seven-time champions were successful in their appeal earlier this month.

Mikel Arteta explains why Arsenal were so determined to finally complete Viktor Gyokeres deal
Viktor Gyokeres has sealed his move to Arsenal as the Gunners completed a deal £63.7million to finally land Mikel Arteta a goalscorer and continue a busy summer of business Mikel Arteta has lauded the signing of Viktor Gyokeres after Arsenal confirmed the £63.7million transfer. The Sweden international has signed a long term deal with the Gunners after participating in one of the transfer sagas of the summer. Gyokeres, 27, went on strike in order to try force Sporting CP into accepting a lower transfer fee that he claimed they had agreed today. This led to the Portuguese club's president Frederico Verandas releasing a stunning statement saying he would not be blackmailed. Ultimately, Gyokeres' agent Hasan Cetinkaya — a key figure in the disagreement — decided to waive his fee so that Arsenal could come to an agreement with Sporting. But Gyokeres offers the north London side something they have seemingly lacked for much of Arteta's tenure in charge — a goalscorer. The ex-Coventry and Brighton forward bagged 97 goals in 102 appearances for Sporting and Arsenal will hope he can replicate that kind of form in the Premier League. "We're absolutely delighted to welcome Viktor Gyökeres to the club," Arteta said. "The consistency he has shown in his performances and availability have been outstanding, and his goal contributions speak for themselves. 'Viktor has so many qualities. He is a quick and powerful presence up front, with incredible goalscoring numbers at club and international levels. He brings a clinical edge with a high conversion rate of chances into goals, with his intelligent movement in the box making him a constant threat. 'We're excited about what Viktor brings to our squad and are looking forward to start working with him. We welcome Viktor and his family to Arsenal." Sporting director Andrea Berta offered a similar number of superlatives for their new signing. The Italian outlined three areas that makes Gyokeres an ideal addition to Arsenal's vision and believes the forward will have an impact on and off the pitch. "We are so pleased with the excellent deal we have completed to bring Viktor Gyökeres to the club," he said. "Viktor is an exceptional talent and has consistently demonstrated he has the qualities and winning mentality required of a top-level centre-forward. His physicality, intelligence and work ethic make him a perfect fit for our vision. 'We are confident Viktor will have a major impact on the pitch and become an important figure in our dressing room. Welcome, Viktor!'
