Haryana to start police recruitment after CET, says CM Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh: Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini announced in Charkhi Dadri on Thursday that police recruitment will be launched soon after the Common Eligibility Test (CET) scheduled for July 26 and 27.
He added that directions have already been issued to police officials to complete the preparatory work and that applications will be invited shortly.
Speaking at Badhra of Dadri, where he inducted village Jhojhu Kalan into the Mahagram Yojana and inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 19 projects worth Rs 68 crore, Saini also unveiled the statue of martyr Arvind Sangwan.
He said women appearing for the CET, along with one accompanying family member, will be given free travel to ensure they reach their exam centres without inconvenience.
He appealed to the public to use private vehicles only for essential work during the exam days due to the expected surge in traffic.
Earlier, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 19 key development projects totalling nearly Rs 68 crore. These include the foundation stone-laying of 17 projects worth Rs 54.84 crore and the inauguration of two projects worth Rs 13.05 crore.
Highlighting the developmental strides made over the past decade, the CM said the gathering that Rs 495 crore worth of works were executed in Badhra alone since 2014, whereas merely Rs 175 crore were spent on developmental works during the previous Congress govt's 10-year term.

The CM reaffirmed his vision to accelerate district Charkhi Dadri's growth, declaring that development here would proceed not just at double but triple the current pace. Since its establishment as a separate district in 2016, 474 announcements have been made for Charkhi Dadri, out of which 321 are complete and 90 are in progress.
He cited major infrastructural investments including Rs 170 crore for four-laning of NH-148B, Rs 27.63 crore for a railway overbridge near Rawaldhi, and Rs 19 crore for a maternal and child health centre at the old hospital premises. In terms of welfare delivery, the district has issued 2.73 lakh Ayushman and Chirayu health cards. Under this, more than Rs 24 crore has been spent on free treatment of 30,000 individuals.

Intelligent textiles, desert warfare systems among key deep tech projects in pipeline: Defence Ministry
INTELLIGENT TEXTILES, desert warfare systems and wargaming technologies are some of the key areas that have been identified by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) as part of the Deep Tech research under Technology Development Fund (TDF). A separate allocation of Rs 500 crores has been made for these advanced technology projects with defence applications, informed Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth in a written reply to MP Naveen Jindal in the Lok Sabha recently. Jindal had sought to know if the government had approved the new Deep Tech and Cutting-Edge policies under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) Scheme and if so, sought details of the projects along with their key features and objectives. Seth said in his reply, 'An additional grant or corpus of Rs 500 crore has been approved by the Defence Minister to cater for deep-tech and cutting edge projects as separate verticals under TDF. The process of the selection and identification of Deep Tech projects has been initiated. Currently, nine projects are launched under this initiative by TDF.' He added that nine industries are engaged in four projects sanctioned through DRDO Industry Academia Centres of Excellence (DIA-CoEs) under the grants in aid scheme of DRDO. Seth told the House that the projects cover research areas such as Intelligent Textile Technologies, Desert Warfare Technologies, War-gaming Technologies, Powder Metallurgy, High Power Microwave Sources and Devices, Advanced Ballistics, Photonic Technologies, Aerospace Systems and Materials, Micro and Nano Systems Science and Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Quantum Technology, Naval Systems and Naval Technologies, High Power CW Laser Source, Additive Manufacturing, Advanced Materials and Processing, Advanced Nano Materials and Sensors based on Semiconductors. Intelligent Textiles are fabrics that can sense, react, or adapt to environmental conditions or user input. Desert Warfare systems are military equipment and mechanisms specifically designed for effective combat operations in hot, arid, and sandy desert environments. Wargaming Technologies and essentially simulation tools are softwares used to model military operations for training, planning, and strategic decision-making. Seth also provided a list of 55 institutes from 20 states in India that have undertaken a total of 302 projects in these areas. These include two institutes from Pune including Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) and the College of Engineering, Pune (COEP). He added, 'DRDO has a Long Term Directed Research Policy (LTDRP) for engaging academia. Projects are monitored at three stages in regular intervals throughout the year. Technical evaluation committee (TEC) evaluates the new project proposals and does regular technical progress monitoring. Research Advisory Board (RAB) reviews the new projects recommended by TEC and also monitors sanctioned projects for their progress and addresses the techno managerial issues of Centre of Excellence (CoE) and the projects. The Governing Council approves the projects, oversees the overall functioning of the Centre and projects sanctioned through the Centre.'

Long-range precision hits had psychological impact on Pakistan: CDS
NEW DELHI: Long-range precision strikes during the cross-border hostilities in May caused "a huge psychological impact" in Pakistan, chief of defence staff General Anil Chauhan said on Tuesday, reiterating that Operation Sindoor had not yet been called off. The CDS emphasised the need to adapt swiftly to disruptive technologies, rethink legacy structures and prioritise synergy across the Army, Navy and IAF to tackle the challenges emanating from the constantly evolving nature of warfare. "War and politics are closely related. Wars are often fought to achieve political purposes. Today, we see very short, precise wars - like in Operation Sindoor - where political goals are achieved through rapid and targeted action," the CDS said at the inaugural edition of the Annual Trident Lecture Series organised by the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies. Noting that "domination" through impact and effect is the new norm, the CDS said Operation Sindoor was not undertaken to capture territory or prisoners of war. "There were very long-range precision strikes (at selected targets). The impact was important. Physical was less, but the psychological impact was much more. Eye on Beijing, Delhi & Manila unite in strategic partnership
NEW DELHI: India and the Philippines upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership with focus on expanding defence, security and maritime cooperation, as PM Modi on Tuesday hosted President Ferdinand Marcos Jr for bilateral talks. The two sides signed 13 agreements and MoUs, which included finalisation of terms of reference for cooperation between all three wings of the armed forces, as Modi expressed support for freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific in line with international laws. Amid protests by China against joint patrolling by India and the Philippines in the South China Sea (SCS), both sides expressed concern over "coercive and aggressive actions" there that impact regional peace and stability and called upon relevant parties to exercise self-restraint and commit to peaceful and constructive means to resolve and manage disputes. According to a joint statement, the leaders underscored that the final and binding 2016 arbitral award on the SCS was a significant milestone and the basis for peacefully resolving disputes in accordance with international law. The award had refuted China's expansive claims on SCS waters in its dispute with Manila. The visit by Marcos also took place ahead of a likely visit to China by Modi later this month for the SCO summit. Talks are also on for a possible visit by Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi to India this month.
