In fact, he doesn't want to play for Newcastle again.
That has made his situation pretty untenable at the club and it has forced Newcastle's hands. They now need to act in the transfer market in order to replace the Swede.
How they go about that is a difficult question. Newcastle have failed to land their first choice targets and have struggled to get deals over the line all summer.
In the meantime, Liverpool just have to rely on them to turn things around and wait it out for Isak.

Isak is someone who is well worth waiting for. He's an elite forward and he will take Liverpool to the next level.
Now it looks like there could finally be some movement that will kickstart a domino effect and get his move over the line to Liverpool.
That's because The Athletic's Seb Stafford-Bloor is now reporting that Amine Adli is closing in on a move to Bournemouth and his transfer should be finalised next week.
Why does this matter to Isak to Liverpool?
Well, it's a game of dominoes. Adli is coming into Bournemouth to replace Dango Ouattara, who in turn will be joining Brentford in order to replace Yoane Wissa.
And well, if you've followed the saga long enough, you'll know that Wissa is joining Newcastle United.
So, finally with Adli the domino game will begin, and it will end up with Isak being a step closer to Liverpool.
Ideally, Newcastle will want two forwards to replace him. But right now, they don't even have one. Anthony Gordon had to play as a forward option in their most recent pre-season friendly.
This is why they know it would be dangerous to let Isak go now. With Wissa though, Newcastle's stance will change.
They will have at least one player who can replace Isak, and with the money coming in from Liverpool they should be able to buy at least another forward option as well.
So, it all starts with Adli. Finally things are moving, and next week could be the turning point in this saga.

A tricky winger showed exactly what Manchester City missed last season
Oscar Bobb appeared poised to play a prominent role for Manchester City last season. But the Norwegian international suffered a fractured leg on the eve of the 24/25 season. From there, Bobb's season was wrecked, and he never got a run at it. As Manchester City kicked off their 25/26 Premier League campaign with a 4-nil win over Wolves yesterday, Oscar Bobb showed exactly what his team missed out on last season. Based on his dazzling performance at Molineux, Bobb could be set to play a prominent role on the right wing for Pep Guardiola's side. Oscar Bobb played a key role for Manchester City in their win at Molineux. When the Manchester City starting lineup was announced, it was exciting to see Oscar Bobb starting on the right wing. Bobb is highly regarded by Pep Guardiola and his teammates. It didn't take him long to make an impact. Bobb's dribbling and movement stood out in the first half. At times, he mesmerised the Wolves defence. Bobb's pressing out of possession was also a key component of his play, and it helped set up Manchester City's second goal of the game. Bobb dispossessed Andre, then made a surging run at the Wolves defence. He calmly slipped in Tijjani Reijnders, who made it 2-nil with a quality finish. That play showed exactly what Bobb adds to Pep Guardiola's side. Yesterday's match opened up more in the second half, as Vitor Pereira's side chased the game, there was more space for the Manchester City attack to operate in. It was this space that Oscar Bobb and Tijjani Reijnders exploited to set up Erling Haaland for Manchester City's third goal of the game. Bobb was at the heart of the move and his close control and neat passing set Reijnders free to tee up Haaland. Haaland did the rest and it was game over. Bobb could be Manchester City's preferred player for the right wing role as the season progresses. Oscar Bobb's performance yesterday was full of promise. The Norwegian international understands the nuances of Manchester City's play and there is no reason why he cannot make the right wing role his own this season. He has the talent to do so. His performance yesterday was sparkling and showed what City missed so dearly last season.

Man United: Ruben Amorim explains Onana's absence against Arsenal
André Onana Before the Premier League showdown between Manchester United and Arsenal, Red Devils coach Ruben Amorim spoke out about André Onana's absence. This Sunday, André Onana is not in the Manchester United squad for their first big clash of the season against Arsenal in the Premier League. The Cameroonian goalkeeper was deemed not quite ready to return to action. Ahead of the encounter with the Gunners, Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim explained his decision to leave Onana out. "He's not injured, he's recovered… but the other players worked well during pre-season, so I have to find a balance. Next week, it'll be a different story. This week, we chose these players." the coach stated. A tactical decision, then.
