29 best available players after first round of the 2025 NBA Draft, including Rasheer Fleming

USA Today26-06-2025
After the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft was completed in Brooklyn, there was still plenty of talent left on the board for teams drafting on Day 2.
Last year, there were several notable players selected on the second day of the 2024 NBA Draft in New York City. Those players included Johnny Furphy (Indiana Pacers), Tyler Kolek (New York Knicks), Kyle Filipowski (Utah Jazz), and Jaylen Wells (Memphis Grizzlies) were grabbed after the first night already concluded.
For this exercise, we used my latest mock along with other mainstream mocks from the following publications (sorted alphabetically):
Our scoring methodology was based on a trade value chart from ESPN's Kevin Pelton.
The following rankings in parentheses are based on a consensus big board provided by our friends at Rookie Scale.

Rockets guard Josh Okogie shines as Nigeria cruises to AfroBasket win

Known for his elite perimeter defense and high-energy play, Rockets guard Josh Okogie also scored 33 efficient points in Nigeria's blowout victory. Newly signed Houston Rockets guard Josh Okogie was a standout for his native Nigeria during Friday's FIBA AfroBasket 2025 action. In Nigeria's 87-66 victory over Tunisia (box score), Okogie finished with 33 points and 6 rebounds in 24 minutes while making 12-of-19 shots (63.2%), 3-of-7 from 3-point range (42.9%), and all six of his free throws. Nigeria will continue its play Sunday with a group-stage match versus Cameroon. Okogie is the only NBA player on the D'Tigers squad. Over his NBA years, Okogie has primarily provided value as a standout perimeter defender with relentless energy. So, from a Houston perspective, breakout games on offense would effectively be a bonus. For a Houston squad that prides itself on elite defense, Okogie could become a tempting reserve option for head coach Ime Udoka — and especially if the shooting and scoring is sustainable. Last season with the Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Hornets, Okogie shot a career-best 34.8% on 3-pointers. He's now 26 years old and should be in his NBA prime. ‘Different': Kevin Durant on Alperen Sengun's elite play for Turkey

Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun were both Western Conference All-Stars last season, and they're now teammates in Houston. This week, Durant is watching his co-star shine in European play. As they gear up for the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2025 competition, Turkey lost Friday's preparation match versus Germany by two points. It was part of the DBB SuperCup and effectively a road game for the Turkish squad, since the game was played in Munich. But that narrow defeat certainly wasn't the fault of Alperen Sengun, an NBA All-Star center with the Houston Rockets. In under 32 minutes played, Sengun led the way with 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists while making 8-of-11 shots (72.7%) and 7-of-9 free throws (77.8%). That total included a number of highlight moves, most notably a crossover spin from the perimeter that led to a running dunk. It's not a move that is seen frequently from big men, but Sengun isn't a normal big man. One person who noticed was new Rockets teammate Kevin Durant, a future Hall of Famer and former Most Valuable Player (MVP). Responding to a clip of the move, Durant simply summed it up with one word. 'Different.' Durant was responding to an X user who asked if any other big men were able to move as fluidly in space. The list is quite small, and it's a unique skill set that Durant will try to help Sengun maximize once training camp opens for the 2025-26 Rockets next month. NBA source on Lakers' expected starting lineup for 2025-26 season

The Los Angeles Lakers have made a few significant additions this offseason, including center Deandre Ayton and guard Marcus Smart. As a result, there are some questions about what their starting lineup will look like when the 2025-26 season gets started. Last season, after the Luka Doncic trade, their regular starting lineup consisted of Doncic, LeBron James, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura and Jaxson Hayes. Ayton will be replacing Hayes in their starting five, but some wonder if Smart, the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year in 2022, could move into the starting five as well. According to one league source, Hachimura is expected to retain his starting spot, while Smart and fellow newcomer Jake LaRavia will anchor Los Angeles' bench unit. "A league source told Lakers Daily that Redick is expected to start Doncic, Reaves, Hachimura, James and Ayton next season and have Smart, LaRavia, Hayes, Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent run the second unit," wrote Ashish Mathur. While Smart is 31 years of age and has had some mild to moderate injuries in recent years, plenty of people expect him to make a significantly positive impact on the Lakers in multiple ways. LaRavia, meanwhile, is expected to infuse the squad with some accurate 3-point shooting and perhaps a little defense of his own. LaRavia, a 23-year-old 6-foot-7 forward, made 42.3% of his 3-point attempts this past season while playing for the Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings. Shortly after signing with the Lakers, he said he sees himself as a "3-and-D connector type player" on the team.
