Tickets are already on sale for the August 9 Woza Afrikaans Fest, celebrating National Women's Day with a slew of the country's favourite singers and DJs.
Headlining the fest is locally rooted Prime Circle, flanked by a sterling lineup of performers.
The gates will open at 09:00 with O'Thandiwe taking to the stage at 10:10, followed by Snotkop at 11:00, RW & Band at 12:10 and DJ Tshegu ushering in the lunch hour at 13:10.
Dirk van der Westhuizen showcases the afternoon lineup at 14:15, followed by Hotstix Mabuse at 15:25, Piesangskille at 16:35 and Lucasraps at 17:45.
Prime Circle will hit the stage at 18:30 with Drommedaris Duo closing the show at 19:40.
All the stage action will take place on a world-class stage with international standards measuring 27m x 8m, including sound, lighting and two LED screens on both sides.
Gates will close following the stage performances at 22:00.
There will be a free kiddies zone with action inflatables, crazy rides, the starship explorer, mechanical bull, zorb track, and shooting tunnel.
The festival garden will offer a milieu for over-18s only, where thirsts can be quenched. The festival garden will be cashless, so remember to bring your debit and credit cards.
A variety of stalls will be available serving food, beverages, toys, crafts, and other festival staples.
Festival goers should bring sunscreen and hats, camping chairs, and blankets for the evening entertainment.
Cooler boxes, alcohol and beverages will not be allowed, and hookah pipes (hubbly-bubblies), gazebos, and beach umbrellas, drugs, weapons, and animals will not be allowed.
Biker patches will also not be allowed onto festival grounds.
Entrance for minors aged 1–6 years is free, while children aged 7–13 pay R100 per person, and those aged 14 years and older pay R200 per person.
There's also free, safe parking, with lots of security on the festival grounds.
All proceeds will go towards children's charities.

Premier Ramathuba fast-tracks prosthetic legs for gospel artist
POLOKWANE – In the spirit of International Mandela Day, Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba, joined by the MEC for Health Dieketseng Mashego, handed over prosthetic legs to gospel artist Malefetsane 'Hennie' Mbuli at the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital. Hennie, who was born with a clubfoot condition, received the life-changing gift with song and tears of joy. The premier first encountered Hennie in May during the Cosatu May Day celebrations at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Despite having no prosthetic legs, he delivered a powerful performance. Afterwards, he approached the premier with a heartfelt request. 'He told me he didn't want a grant, he just wanted limbs so he could perform better. That courage moved us. We knew we had to prioritise him,' Ramathuba recalled. Ordinarily, the waiting period for prosthetics ranges from three to 12 months. Under Ramathuba's intervention, the process was however fast-tracked and completed in just over a month. At an estimated cost of R200 000 for both legs, provided through a private institution, Hennie's dream was realised far sooner than expected. The handover ceremony was quite emotional. Hennie walked on his new legs for the first time and burst into song: 'Ke tsamaya bjale ka bohle, ke thabile ke fodile, ke bona ka mahlo,' meaning 'I now walk like everyone, I am happy and healed, I see it with my own eyes'. He expressed deep gratitude. 'This gift will help me care for my siblings and child. I also hope to be booked for performances.' Mashego praised the premier's leadership. 'We're led by a powerful woman. We're honoured to witness your dream come true.' Ramathuba thanked the hospital team and CEO Phillip Kruger, calling on government departments to support Hennie by inviting him to perform. 'He doesn't want handouts. He wants to work. Let's support that.' She added that while there is a backlog for prosthetic limbs in the province, efforts are underway to improve capacity through the rollout of Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics units and necessary equipment. 'We're working on speeding things up. We ask the public to be patient.'

Ales for Tails, Durban's much-loved animal charity festival is back with a jam-packed programme of activities, live entertainment, and local flavour. This event which promises a full day (and night) of joy for the whole family at the Shongweni Club grounds on Saturday, August 2. The event supports a variety of animal charities, from shelters and sterilisation programmes to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation groups. The 2024 event raised just under R200 000, and this year organisers are aiming higher, thanks to community support, dedicated volunteers, and local sponsors like Ideal Pet Food. 'It will bring together animal lovers, music fans, craft drink connoisseurs, and families for a cause that matters. Every ticket sold and every drink poured goes toward helping a dozen local animal welfare groups continue their vital work — from sterilisation and rescue to education and rehabilitation,' said Ales for Tails organiser Warren Eades.
