Michigan State football extends official offer to 4-star WR commit Samson Gash

Michigan State football has extended an official offer to arguably its top verbal commitment in the 2026 class.
Samson Gash of Detroit Catholic Central announced he received his official offer from Michigan State on Friday. Gash posted the official offer package from Michigan State on his social media X account.
August 1 is the first day for schools to extend official offers to prospects in the 2026 class.
Gash is a four-star wide receiver prospect in the 2026 class. He has a recruiting rating of 90 in 247Sports' system and ranks as the No. 46 wide receiver in the country. He is also listed as the No. 4 player from the state of Michigan.
Michigan State picked up a verbal commitment from Gash in late June, and he is rated as one of the Spartans' top commits in the 2026 class. Michigan State beat out Alabama, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Illinois, Iowa and Purdue for his commitment.

Former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback named to NFL's Top 100 players list

Former Oklahoma Sooners superstar quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield is entering his third season as the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After he and the team re-worked his contract to give him $30 million guaranteed next year in 2026, he got more good news on Monday. The OU legend was named to the annual NFL Top 100 Players of 2025 list this week, coming in right in the middle at No. 50. It's Mayfield's second appearance on NFL Network's annual list, as he was the No. 71 player on the 2021 edition of the list, back when he was a member of the Cleveland Browns. Each year, the members of the rankings are chosen by NFL players themselves, and Mayfield made the cut after having the best season of his career. He made his second-straight Pro Bowl in 2024, while passing for 4,500 yards and adding 41 touchdowns through the air. He led the Bucs to another NFC South division title, his second straight and the franchise's fourth in a row. So far, he's the third Tampa Bay player on the list, joining linebacker Lavonte David (No. 96) and defensive lineman Vita Vea (No. 76). Mayfield has found his home with the Buccaneers, posting the best two seasons of his NFL career after being seen as an afterthought by the other 31 franchises in the league. A one-year "prove it" deal with the Bucs turned into a three-year contract, and Mayfield only got better in Year 2 in Tampa. Another big year in 2025 could lead to an even bigger payday and more security down the road for the former No. 1 overall draft pick. Halfway through the NFL's Top 100 list, Mayfield is already the third former Sooner in the rankings. Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey came in at 93rd, while Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon was ranked 58th. Former Wisconsin Badger set to claim starting job with Indianapolis Colts

Former Wisconsin center Tanor Bortolini is listed as the Indianapolis Colts' starting center on their first unofficial preseason depth chart. Bortolini is set for the promotion after playing a depth role as a rookie last season. He appeared in 12 total contests, starting five. He is now slotted to anchor a Colts' offensive line along with left tackle Bernhard Raimann, left guard Quenton Nelson, right guard Matt Goncalves and right tackle Braden Smith. He is set to do so after Ryan Kelly, the Colts' starting center over the last nine seasons, left for the Minnesota Vikings this offseason. Bortolini is one of two Wisconsin products in prominent roles on the Colts' offense -- Jonathan Taylor enters 2025 as the Colts' lead running back and top offensive playmaker. The versatile offensive lineman appeared in 35 games over four years with the Badgers from 2020-23, starting 27. Before claiming the team's full-time center role in 2023, Bortolini made starts at left guard, right guard and even tight end. Bortolini is one of three former Wisconsin centers starting in the NFL. Joe Tippmann (2019-22) is entering year three with the New York Jets, while Tyler Biadasz (2016-19) is entering year six in the NFL and his second with the Washington Commanders. Bortolini and the Colts begin their 2025 preseason schedule on Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens. They'll then kick off their 2025 regular season on Sept. 7 at home against the Miami Dolphins.
