WATCH: Several puppies rescued in Northwest DC house fire
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Several puppies were rescued in a house fire in Northwest D.C. Thursday, according to the DC Fire and EMS Department.
According to firefighters, crews responded to reports of a two-story house fire in the 600 block of Tewkesbury Place NW.
As of noon, the fire has been marked as under control.

One dog and several puppies were rescued. However, DCFD said three puppies did not survive.
No people were injured, according to firefighters.

DC man sentenced for robbing woman, stealing car
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. man was sentenced Thursday for robbing a woman and later stealing her car, according to the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia. Donovan Adams, 31, was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release after pleading guilty in April to charges of armed robbery, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The USAO states that Adama got out of the car and pointed a gun at the woman before stealing her purse, cell phone, and car keys before getting back into his car and driving away. The woman then ran into her work and called the police. Meanwhile, Adams returned to the alleyway and drove off in the woman's car. Court documents state that, ten minutes later, the woman went back outside and noticed that her car had been stolen. Officers located Adams, who attempted to drive away from police in his black sedan, shortly after. Around 100 firefighters respond to Northwest DC house fire
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Over 100 firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in Northwest D.C., according to DC Fire and EMS (DCFD). Firefighters responded to reports of a house fire in the 3800 block of Albamarle St. NW, where heavy flames could be seen coming from the home. Tenants say church took down Pride decorations at DC apartment building The fire had started in the basement and then extended to all floors of the two-and-a-half-story home. According to firefighters, the bulk of the flames have been extinguished and it took about 30 minutes. No injuries have been reported, but two adults, two children and one dog have been displaced. One neighbor said he heard screaming. 'Something's serious, and I go over and see their eyes sort of smoldering, a little bit of flames,' the neighbor said. DC man pleads guilty to illegal possession of gun after traffic stop arrest
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A 30-year-old D.C. man pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a gun after he was arrested on March 15, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. Confusion, concern around Dupont Circle ahead of big WorldPride weekend D.C. police conducted a traffic stop near 1820 7th Street NW for a traffic infraction. During the stop, officers reportedly saw open containers of alcohol in the car and asked everyone to step out of the vehicle. While officers attempted to place the front passenger, Trevon Vines, in handcuffs, they saw a handgun in his front left jacket pocket. The gun had been reported stolen from a gun dealer in White Plains, Maryland. An investigation revealed that Vines has multiple prior convictions. At the time of the incident, Vines was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal and D.C. law. He also did not have a license to carry or own a firearm in the District.
