Future iPhone 18 rumoured to feature powerful A20 chip with 2nm design
Recent analyst reports highlight a significant shift in Apple's chip technology roadmap, pointing toward a breakthrough in the rumoured A20 chip, which may feature in the iPhone 18 series phones slated for release in late 2026. The next-generation chip is expected to use TSMC's cutting-edge 2-nanometer manufacturing process. This is a step up from the 3nm technology used for the latest and upcoming chips for iPhone 16 and 17.
A key technical innovation about the A20 chip is the adoption of TSMC's Wafer Level Multi-Chip Module (WMCM) packaging. Unlike previous chips, where the RAM is packaged adjacent to the CPU, this technology is going to integrate the RAM directly on the same wafer as the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine. This integration aims to reduce the size of the chip while improving performance speed, heat management, and lowering power consumption. This is going to enhance the efficiency and battery life of future iPhones.
The first devices to feature this A20 chip with its 2nm manufacturing process and advanced packaging technology are rumoured to be the iPhone 18 Pro and the anticipated iPhone 18 Fold. However, the foldable phone from Apple is still speculative since we are still waiting for the iPhone 17 launch.
It's important to note that while industry rumours about the iPhone 18's chip advancements are gaining attention, the iPhone 17 series, including new variants such as the iPhone 17 Air, is still the immediate focus for Apple's consumers and the market, with a likely release event in September 2025.

iPhone 17 Air could make Galaxy S25 Edge look chunky, leaked photos suggest ultra-slim design
The smartphone market could see a fresh battle in the ultra-slim segment this year, following the recent launch of the 5.8mm thick Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. Apple is expected to unveil its iPhone 17 Air soon, a device rumoured to be even slimmer. Leaked information suggests the iPhone 17 Air could measure between 5.0mm and 6.0mm in thickness, with several sources pointing to figures around 5.44mm, 5.5mm, and 5.65mm, according to TechRadar. If these reports prove accurate, the device would be thinner than Samsung's latest model. While the difference may appear minor, between 0.15mm and 0.35mm, images shared by tipster @theonecid show a dummy unit of the iPhone 17 Air next to the Galaxy S25 Edge, highlighting a noticeable reduction in thickness. The iPhone 17 Air may, however, may feature a camera lens that could stick out slightly more than the S25 Edge, potentially offsetting some of its slim advantage at the widest point. Reports also indicate potential compromises associated with the reduced form factor. The device is expected to include a single rear camera lens, in contrast to the two lenses on both the Galaxy S25 Edge and the standard iPhone 17. Additionally, the battery is likely to be smaller, suggesting users may need to trade off battery life and camera versatility for a thinner design. Moreover, the iPhone 17 Air is also expected to be available in four colours, with Sky Blue appearing to be a likely favourite, according to a recently circulated dummy model video. A video shared by Majin Bu on X showcases a dummy model of the iPhone 17 Air in Sky Blue from multiple angles. The clip highlights the colour's versatility, which can appear almost white under certain lighting conditions but shows a more distinct blue hue under others. The video also includes a side-by-side comparison with the iPhone 16 Pro in Desert Titanium, offering viewers a sense of the17 Air's slimmer profile.

Microsoft finally fixes Windows 11's broken Dark mode after nearly a decade
Microsoft is addressing long-standing dark mode inconsistencies in Windows 11, with new preview builds showing dark themes applied to file operation dialogs that have remained stubbornly bright since 2016. The latest changes affect copy, delete, and file permission windows that previously displayed in light mode even when users had dark mode enabled system-wide. The improvements were discovered in Windows 11 preview build 26100.5061 , where leaker Phantomofearth spotted the updated interface elements using configuration utilities. While the window backgrounds now properly display in dark gray, some buttons still appear in light colours, indicating the work remains incomplete. The new Dark mode could come later this year with Windows update Dark mode first arrived in Windows 10's Anniversary Update in 2016, but Microsoft abandoned comprehensive implementation, leaving users with a patchwork of light and dark elements. The inconsistency has persisted through Windows 11's launch, with fundamental interface components like the Control Panel, Run prompt, and file operation dialogs remaining bright white. The timing suggests these fixes may debut with Windows 11's 25H2 update later this year. Industry observers have long criticized Microsoft's incomplete dark mode implementation, especially compared to Apple 's comprehensive system-wide dark theme that launched with macOS Mojave in 2018. While Microsoft hasn't officially announced these improvements, the development represents significant progress after years of user complaints. The company still needs to address other legacy interface elements, including the Registry Editor and Group Policy windows, to achieve true system-wide dark mode consistency.
