Red Sox May Still 'Seriously Consider' Trading Jarren Duran

The Boston Red Sox were at the center of many trade rumors, specifically involving their outfielders. The team opted not to trade away one of their outfielders, leaving a logjam going into next year.
Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu, Ceddanne Rafaela and Roman Anthony are all capable of playing every day. Anthony and Rafaela are not real trade candidates, but Abreu and Duran could be. Of the two, Duran has less club control and is older, making him the likelier trade chip.
Right now, Rafaela is seeing some time in the infield with Marcelo Mayer injured. However, next season, the Red Sox will have to make some kind of move to fix the logjam. Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter tabbed Jarren Duran as a candidate to be traded before opening day next year.

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS - AUGUST 05: Jarren Duran #16 of the Boston Red Sox celebrates with. David Hamilton #17 after scoring a run against the Kansas City Royals during the seventh inning at Fenway Park on August 05, 2025 in Boston, Massachusetts. More"The Red Sox have an obvious logjam in the outfield with Duran, Wilyer Abreu, Ceddanne Rafaela and rookie Roman Anthony all vying for playing time," wrote Reuter. "Duran is the most logical trade candidate of the bunch in terms of value and remaining control. Flipping him for a controllable pitcher to bolster the starting rotation is something the Boston front office will need to seriously consider."
Duran was an All-Star last season, but got off to a slower start this year. However, in July, he showed why he is worth holding on to for a postseason run, and also upped his offseason trade value.
He is slashing .264/.329/.465 in 112 games. However, since the start of July, he has posted a .306/.387/.663 slash line with six home runs.
All four of the Red Sox's young outfielders have proven they do not deserve to be spending time on the bench. Flipping Duran for a pitcher could be a good situation for him and the team.

Rangers' Adolis Garcia makes jaw-dropping barehanded catch
Adolis Garcia might've made the catch of the year. With one out in the top of the second inning and the Rangers leading 2–0, Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos — who tends to find himself in the middle of big moments — slapped a shallow fly ball into right field. Garcia charged in at full speed, attempting a basket catch below his beltline. 3 Adolis García juggles and then catches a fly ball off the bat of Nick Castellanos of the Phillies during the second inning at Globe Life Field on August 10, 2025 in Arlington, Texas. Getty Images The ball bounced off his glove, ricocheted off his leg, and appeared destined to drop, which would've been bad news for the Rangers. However, Garcia, maintaining his focus, reached out with his bare left hand and miraculously secured the ball before it hit the ground. It was an unbelievable, immediate 'catch of the year' candidate. The catch proved to be a big one in terms of maintaining the Rangers' lead, but the Phillies went on to win the contest 4-2, continuing to build their National League East division lead over the slumping Mets. Garcia and the Rangers dropped to 60-59 on the season. This season, the two-time All-Star and former Gold Glove winner has a .661 OPS and is struggling individually. Garcia, however, is still packing some pop. 3 Adolis Garcia won a Gold Glove for his play in the outfield during the 2023 season, and he also is a two-time All-Star, playing in the game in both 2021 and 2023, respectively. Garcia also has 23 doubles.

2025 Wisconsin Football Predictions: Badgers Ranked 51st in RJ Young's Ultimate 136
College Football 2025 Wisconsin Football Predictions: Badgers Ranked 51st in RJ Young's Ultimate 136 Published Aug. 10, 2025 10:26 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link This isn't your average college football ranking. My Ultimate 136 is a set of rankings that is fluid, but it's my job to look ahead and make a claim for all FBS teams based on what I know and why I know it. Here are the three pressing questions I started by asking when putting together this list: Who do I think is good? Why do I think they're good? What are the chances they will finish above or below my expectations? Here is a look at where Wisconsin lands in my Ultimate 136. Wisconsin ranking: 51 Last year's ranking: 27 Top player: CB Ricardo Hallman: Was targeted 33 times in 319 coverage snaps last season and allowed just 20 catches, the second-fewest in the Big Ten among cornerbacks with 300-plus coverage snaps; was an AP Third-Team All-American in 2023. [Wisconsin's 2025 schedule] RJ's take: Stop me if you've heard this one before: Wisconsin is best when it runs the ball. Since the final game of the 2022 season, the Badgers are 12-0 when they rush for 150-plus yards. So, after the Badgers rushed for their fewest yards in a full season since the turn of the 20th century, it's easy to see why Phil Longo was no longer fit to call the offense. ADVERTISEMENT Making matters worse in 2024 was the 20.8 points per game the team averaged, which was its lowest in a full season since 2004. Now, Jeff Grimes takes over as offensive coordinator after overseeing a Kansas offense that ranked in the top 15 in rushing and produced a 1,000-yard rusher in Devin Neal. He had better get it sorted out fast with games at Alabama, vs. Iowa, at Michigan, at Oregon, vs. Ohio State and at Indiana this season. Garrett Crochet Is Key to Red Sox's Return to October Baseball
As goes pitching sensation Garrett Crochet, so does the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox are 65–53 as they play their final game of their series on the road with the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Currently in the top American League Wild Card spot with 44 games to play in the regular season, pitching is what has led them to where they are now. A team batting average of .254 isn't strong enough to carry the club to an American League East title, or even a Wild Card sweep. A healthy Crochet is what could carry the ballclub beyond their final three games of the regular season against the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park.
