See thousands of elephants parachute into Dumbo next month
Get ready, Brooklyn—your favorite airborne pachyderms are about to make their grand descent. The annual Dumbo Drop returns Friday, May 30, bringing with it thousands of toy elephants parachuting from the rooftops of Dumbo's Washington Street in one of the city's most delightfully surreal spectacles.
Now in its ninth year, this gravity-defying fundraising event benefits local public schools, PS307 and The Dock Street Middle School, and has become a full-on neighborhood blowout. Two ticketed drops are scheduled at 5pm and 7pm, with toy elephants designed by artist Zeph Farmby floating down to eager crowds below.
"Brooklyn's favorite iconic event is back,' said Alexandria Sica, president of the Dumbo Improvement District, in an official statement. 'This [is] basically the best Friday night ever in Dumbo.'
For $15 and up, attendees get a souvenir elephant, access to the viewing area between Front and Water Streets, and an entry into the sweepstakes to win some serious Dumbo loot, like a six-month family membership to Life Time gym in Dumbo (worth $5,000), a stay at 1Hotel Brooklyn Bridge or $500 to spend at local favorite Almondine Bakery. Winners can pick their prizes in a draft, fantasy football-style.
New this year: a high-energy dance party led by Life Time's star trainer Joseph David, a photo opp station and live music from The Jelly. Fuel up at the Taste of Dumbo food row and cool off at the open-air beer garden.
Families can also swing by the free Dumbo Archway Party from 4–7pm, no ticket required. There, you'll find a 20-plus activity Kids Zone put together by Brooklyn Bridge Parents, a giant bouncy slide powered by Elliston Pediatrics and a glitter-filled Bedazzling Extravaganza courtesy of Creatively Wild.

And she revealed the one key reason that they have been able to sustain their marriage while competing. She said in an interview with BILD: 'We don't play against each other. We prefer to be on the same side of the court.' Agassi added: 'We like that pickleball is a community-oriented sport. People who play pickleball also improve quickly.' He went on to say: 'We really want to spread the game. When we're not traveling, we practice a lot of pickleball. Since we both play, it's fun to do it together.' On Saturday, April 12, Agassi hosted the first-ever Agassi Open Play Day at Life Time Green Valley to mark National Pickleball Month.
