New movies, shows and music to stream, from manga adaptation Bet to Oscar-winner The Brutalist
A new live-action manga adaptation comes this week, this time from the popular Kakegurui series, which has already been made into a live-action TV show and movies in Japan. Meanwhile, The Brutalist, which earned Adrien Brody his second Best Actor Oscar, is finally available to stream. Here are some of the latest films, shows and music to stream this week. Based on the bestselling book series of the same name by Martha Wells, Murderbot is a comedy/thriller about a security robot who begins to develop free will. It hides its intelligence and reluctantly joins a group of scientists on a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to binge-watch futuristic soap operas – until things go sideways. Alexander Skarsgard (Succession) plays the robot alongside an ensemble cast including Noma Dumezweni (Presumed Innocent), David Dastmalchian (Oppenheimer) and Sabrina Wu (Joy Ride) among others. Since 2004, Ewan McGregor and his best friend Charley Boorman have turned their motorcycle journeys into three hit TV shows – Long Way Round, Long Way Down and Long Way Up – and two bestselling books. Their fourth international trip and show is called Long Way Home, now streaming on Apple TV+. For this journey, the duo travel across 17 European countries on cranky old bikes, starting at McGregor's home in Scotland, going into Holland, up through the Nordics, Arctic Circle, down to the Baltics, before going through the Alps and France. They spent about two months on the road before finishing at Boorman's home in England. Stanley Tucci is back. After CNN cancelled his Emmy Award-winning show Searching for Italy in 2022, the acclaimed actor returns to give the world a taste of his Italian heritage, this time with National Geographic. For this show, Tucci visits 10 of the most distinctive regions in Italy to discover how food can unlock what makes them so special. Each episode ends with the award-winning actor creating a meal that captures that region's very essence. JJ Abrams co-created this show, a crime thriller led by Josh Holloway and Rachel Hilson. Set in the 1970s, it follows the FBI's first black female officer Nina (Hilson), who attempts to stop a crime syndicate with the help of a getaway driver Jim (Holloway). Japanese manga series Kakegurui, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura, has been hugely successful since its release in 2014. It has spawned an anime series, novels, live-action TV and film adaptations and even a video game. Netflix, which bought streaming rights to the anime series, is now introducing a live-action English version. The original story centres on a prestigious school where the social status of students is decided through gambling. When one new student learns the cheating methods of other gamblers, she disrupts the status quo, causing chaos. In the premise for Bet, the new student is given a mysterious past and she's set on revenge. The Brutalist has been a rousing success since it was first screened to rave reviews at the Venice Film Festival in September. It has grossed more than $50 million globally on a $10 million budget, and it was nominated for 10 categories at the 2025 Oscars, where it won three – including Brody's second for Best Actor. The film tells the story of a struggling architect named Lazlo Toth (Brody), a survivor of a Jewish concentration camp, who fights for decades to build his own masterwork in an America that barely accepts him. Released in 2018, this is comedian Jonah Hill's directorial debut. The film is sets in 1990s Los Angels and follows a 13-year-old boy, who escapes a troubled home life to spend time with an older group of skateboarders. Mid90s received positive reviews from critics, many of whom praised it for its nostalgic take on the 1990s. A follow-up to their 2020 documentary film Kiss the Ground, directors Josh Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell return on familiar ground armed with top Hollywood stars to drive home their message of regenerative farming. Like its predecessor, Common Ground further delves into farming practices and the important role healthier soil plays in a better planet and a more sustainable world. Actors Laura Dern, Jason Momoa, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson and Rosario Dawson feature in the film. The Voice alum Morgan Wallen's fourth album comes two years after his hugely successful One Thing at a Time, which remained on top of the US Billboard 200 chart for 19 consecutive weeks. The country album features a number of high-profile collaborators, including Tate McRae, Eric Church and Post Malone. Wallen is expected to set off on a tour to promote the album later this year.

Boisson lights up French Open, Sinner advances to semis
Wildcard Lois Boisson lit up the French Open on Wednesday when the home hope toppled sixth-seeded Russian Mirra Andreeva in straight sets to reach the last four, overshadowing men's world number one Jannik Sinner who cruised past Alexander Bublik. While Sinner stretched his Grand Slam winning streak to 19 matches after earning back-to-back titles at the US Open last year and the Australian Open in January, Boisson, ranked 361st at the start of the tournament, thrilled the home crowd with a dazzling performance. Sinner will face the winner between three-time French Open champion Novak Djokovic, hunting a record-breaking 25th singles Grand Slam, and Germany's third seed Alexander Zverev in the last four. Sinner, who beat Bublik in straight sets, is the first Italian man to reach six Grand Slam semi-finals. The 23-year-old, who served a three-month doping ban before returning to action in Rome last month, raced through the first set after twice breaking the Kazakh, who had stunned fifth seed Jack Draper in the previous round. Looking to become the first man representing Kazakhstan to defeat a world number one, Bublik, who hit 37 drop shots against Draper, pulled out this weapon again in the second set. But Sinner broke and held to take it. Ever the entertainer, the 27-year-old Bublik delighted the crowd with an underarm serve but ultimately could do nothing to stop the Italian's march into the last four. Earlier Boisson became the toast of France after staging the tournament's biggest upset with a 7-6(6) 6-3 win over Andreeva, who had been tipped as a title contender, in an electrifying match that had the home crowd on the edge of their seats. The 22-year-old had stunned third seed Jessica Pegula in round four, but on Wednesday pulled off another major shock, beating Andreeva, who had not lost a set in the tournament. "Every tennis player dreams of winning a Slam - and for a French player, Roland Garros even more so. I'll go for it because my dream is to win the final, not the semi-final,' Boisson said. Andreeva, the 18-year-old sixth seed who was bidding to become the youngest female player to reach back-to-back French Open semifinals in nearly three decades, quickly found herself chasing Boisson's fierce forehand. The underdog, who has been a breath of fresh air in the tournament with her no-nonsense power game and down-to-earth approach, looked to have run out of steam as Andreeva went 3-0 up but she proceeded to win the next six consecutive games. Andreeva repeatedly lost her temper and was handed a warning when she fired a ball into the stands in frustration. With the home crowd the loudest it had been since the start, chants of 'Lois, Lois' echoed across the Philippe Chatrier court, with the decibel level lifted even further because the roof was closed due to rain. Boisson, who will jump almost 300 places in the rankings next week, will face 2023 U.S. Open champion Coco Gauff, who came out on top in an error-ridden quarter-final against Australian Open champion Madison Keys with the pair littering the court with 101 unforced errors. With a total of 49 unforced errors in the first set alone they both struggled to hold serve and Gauff, a semifinalist in Paris last year, wasted a set point before Keys, who reached the French Open last four in 2018, edged ahead with a tiebreak win. Gauff, who reached the final here in 2022 and is the youngest woman to claim 25 main-draw wins at Roland Garros since Martina Hingis (1995-2000), bounced back to win the next two sets. "So many unforced errors," Gauff, who also had 10 double faults, said to herself after sinking another easy baseline shot into the net. "I was just trying to be aggressive," the 21-year-old Gauff said. "Usually if you're playing too passive, in the end the more aggressive player is going to win. I knew in the second and the third that I had to try my best."

Oscar winner Adrien Brody graces Mr. Eight's Dubai Islands launch
Hollywood icon joins an exclusive guest list at the unveiling of Villa del GAVI, adding star power to the luxury waterfront development's debut Mr. Eight Development, a leading European real estate developer with over 20 years of experience, has reached a major milestone. Within just weeks of its launch, the company has sold over 60% of the units at its latest Dubai Islands project, Villa del GAVI - surpassing initial expectations by a wide margin. Meanwhile, the developer's debut project, Villa del DIVOS, is nearing full occupancy, with only a handful of units remaining. The stunning waterfront development was officially unveiled during an exclusive launch event at Atlantis The Royal, drawing an elite audience of celebrities, influencers, investors, and industry leaders. Among the distinguished guests was Academy Award-winning actor Adrien Brody, who took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. His presence added global prestige and an artistic flair to the occasion. Brody's recent lead role in The Brutalist - in which he plays an architect envisioning a bold new future - struck a powerful chord with the architectural philosophy behind Villa del GAVI. The parallels between the film's cinematic narrative and the real-world design of the project highlighted the development's commitment to timeless, expressive, and purpose-driven architecture. The project's strong sales performance is largely fueled by European buyers, who make up approximately 90% of purchasers to date. Most investors hail from Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, and the UK, with growing interest now emerging from Japan and China. "We believe that true luxury begins with space, design, and experience," said Emils Daujats, director at Mr. Eight Development. "That's why we made a deliberate decision to exclude one-bedroom units from Villa del GAVI. This curated approach has clearly resonated with buyers, and the sales performance so far proves that the market is ready for a more thoughtful interpretation of premium living." "Our buyers prioritize quality, service, and above all, uninterrupted sea views," he added. "When a home offers a direct view of the water, price becomes a secondary factor. These residences are limited in number, and demand is extremely high." At Villa del GAVI, a limited selection of two- and three-bedroom units - including premium corner residences with sweeping sea views - remains available. The four-bedroom layouts are nearly sold out. Prices start at Dh3.6 million, with a flexible 35/65 payment plan. Handover is scheduled for Q4 2027. Villa del GAVI marks Mr. Eight Development's second project on Dubai Islands and continues the brand's commitment to boutique-inspired residences crafted with the finest finishes. Each home in the 12-story tower offers panoramic views of the Gulf and features high-end interiors, including Italian travertine stone, Fabel Casa kitchens, SMEG appliances, and Tom Dixon fixtures. Residents will also enjoy an array of thoughtfully curated amenities, such as two infinity pools, a Technogym fitness center, and exclusive access to the Mr. Eight Priority Club. The Mr. Eight Priority Club unites all of the brand's developments on Dubai Islands into one exclusive community. Members benefit from access to a unique suite of luxury experiences, including chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce vehicles, a private Riva motorboat with a captain, golf carts, and à la carte services such as in-residence spa treatments, personal training, childcare, and 24/7 maintenance - making it the only lifestyle offering of its kind on the island. Mr. Eight Development is now entering its strongest growth phase, with several new launches planned on Dubai Islands and across other key locations in Dubai. These upcoming projects reflect the brand's bold vision and growing momentum. A series of high-impact events is also on the horizon, each designed to immerse visitors in the elevated lifestyle that defines every Mr. Eight development.
