Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley is expecting debutant Mani Liddy to play a 'significant role' despite only landing at the club in the mid-season draft.
Liddy was playing SANFL football just a few weeks ago before being selected by the Power with the No.16 pick.
The 23-year-old averaged 22.6 touches, five clearances and 3.4 tackles per game for Central District as a midfielder.
He then starred on debut for Power's SANFL side, recording 25 touches, eight clearances, seven tackles, three inside 50s and a goal to earn a senior debut.

Hinkley said Liddy's form throughout 2025 warranted senior selection, had he been on an AFL list already.
'It's a great story, we've been really good at picking them and playing them pretty quickly over the last few years,' Hinkley said.
'Mani's another great story.
'Anyone who has been playing at his level at SANFL football (that) would've been available to play in an AFL team, would've probably been picked before this week.
'His form, his first game in our team in the SANFL was outstanding and it's almost too hard to ignore.
'He deserves his chance, I love the stories of persistence, of the boys that have to do it a little bit differently and fight their way back in.
'He's certainly a hard worker and he's an outnumber player so we think he'll come in and play a significant role for us.'

Liddy will join a star-studded Port Adelaide midfield mix, with Jason Horne-Francis returning to join Zak Butters and Miles Bergman in the centre square.
Captain Connor Rozee has spent time in the middle and off half back this season and did the same in last week's win over the Giants.
Jordon Sweet has been recalled for his first game in more than a month, set to pair with Dante Visentini in the battle against Max Gawn.
They get a chance to change the script against Port Adelaide today, a team Gawn has feasted on in recent times when it comes to SuperCoach – scoring 177 points in both games against the Power last year.
In the second Sunday game, West Coast hosts Carlton at Optus Oval to finish round 14.

Injury fears for Allen as co-captain helped from ground
Oscar Allen is assisted from the ground in the hands of medical staff. Credit: Janelle St Pierre / AFL Photos Craig O'Donoghue The West Australian West Coast co-captain Oscar Allen has been helped from the field with an apparent leg injury despite being nowhere near the play in the build up to the incident. Allen was on the ground at centre half-forward as the ball was marked inside 50 on the other side of the field and hadn't been involved in a recent passage of play. He needed assistance from two trainers to leave the field and was instantly taken to the rooms. Allen has struggled with injury during his career and his left knee is strapped during games. The star forward is out of contract this season and is being chased by other clubs, but can ill afford to suffer a serious injury. West Coast have already activated their sub, with Clay Hall replacing Jayden Hunt (tactical). More to come.

Port's odd way to win leaves coach satisfied
For Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley, this win was different. Usually when the Power triumph, they're led to victory by a vaunted midfield. But their 25-point home win against Melbourne on Sunday was powered by two key position players. Forward Mitch Georgiades kicked 7.4 and key defender Esava Ratugolea took 13 marks - career-best returns for both. "It's not typically we talk about bookends of the ground, a full forward and a full back, being as dominant as they were," Hinkley said after Port's 14.9 (93) to 9.14 (68) win. "We have typically survived around the midfield group - everyone talks around them." Port's on-ball brigade was still good: Skipper Connor Rozee, in defence and spurts in the midfield, collected a match-high 32 disposals; Jason Horne-Francis had 29 touches; vice-captain Zak Butters gathered 27. But it was Georgiades, who demolished dual All Australian backman Steven May, and Ratugolea who were the difference. "Mitch kicked 7.4 and might not have been best on ground," Hinkley said, "It was really pleasing for Esava, particularly, to play that way. "He has played a really strong year. You can see him grow with confidence. "And then for Mitch to do what he did on a high quality opponent ... that's a big number in the AFL; 7.4 is a really big number now. "It was a different way for us to win when we were strong at both ends of the ground." Hinkley described Ratugolea, who arrived at Port at the end of 2023 after six years at Geelong, as "a little bit of a doubter". "He's the bloke who wants to do everything right by the team, he's such a carer," Hinkley said. "You can see when he occasionally makes a mistake, that he feels that a bit too much - he's just got to let them go. "He's learning to do that much better. So I was just really pleased for him to be that dominant."

Footy commentator Brian Taylor goes rogue after X-rated replay
Brian Taylor couldn't help himself. The veteran AFL caller left Channel 7 colleague Kane Cornes chortling as he went rogue over revealing footage of Bulldogs champion Marcus Bontempelli during the club's big win over St Kilda on Thursday night at Marvel Stadium. The Dogs captain was somewhat stitched up when TV cameras captured the moment he crashed into the back of St Kilda's Mitch Owens, giving a free kick away with a high tackle in the third quarter. FOX FOOTY, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every match of every round in the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season LIVE in 4K, with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? Get your first month for just $1. Limited-time offer. Slow-motion replays regrettably proved more revealing than most with the three-time AFL Players Association MVP seen sliding over his opponent's back and then landing on the ball. Taylor was quick to point out Bontempelli's tackle when the replay showed the moment the 29-year-old took a direct hit to his middle stump. 'Have a look at Bontempelli here,' Taylor said. 'He lands on the ball in an awkward position. You can see just here, I think it got him right on the doodle. 'He felt uncomfortable for a moment.' Cornes chuckled and responded by saying: 'It's a good pick up'. You can watch the incident in the video player above Hawthorn great Luke Hodge also responded by saying: 'I thought he was disappointed because he gave away the free kick, but that's the reason'. The grimace on Bontempelli's face said it all. Bontempelli's unfortunate flop wasn't the only bizarre incident with footy fans left snickering over an apparent coin toss injury before the game. Thursday night's TV broadcast showed the moment a corporate representative of St Kilda sponsor Chery Motor Group came undone with an apparent hamstring strain while flipping the coin. The unfortunate victim was seen immediately grabbing at the muscle after hoisting the coin into the air with enough force to launch Elon's SpaceX Starship. The man bravely hobbled off as Bontempelli and St Kilda captain Jack Steele ran back to their team huddle before the first bounce. One video of the pre-match injury shared by footy commentator Giulio Di Giordio has more than two million views on X. The hamstring homicide was discussed after the game on Seven with Saints champion Nick Riewoldt more than a little amused. 'That's unbelievable. Can you imagine his WhatsApp group at the moment,' he said with a laugh. 'It'd be merciless. Wow.' He went on to say: 'It's been a rough night for Saints people'. Leading injury analyst Brien Seeney, the physiotherapist behind the popular 'NRL PHYSIO' account on X, also posted a video of the hammy ping, writing: 'Textbook coin-toss hamstring strain mechanism. 'Likely to require 2-4 weeks recovery. Main rehab challenge is loading - need to start with tossing 5c coins and slowly progress all the way up to 50c. If that's done too quickly re-injury risk is sky high.' Channel 7 reporter Mitch Cleary said people inside the Saints camp had confirmed the act was not staged and had in fact been a real injury. It was a rough old night for the Saints with coach Ross Lyon left being blunt with reporters after the 72-point thumping. Lyon said there's was 'no magic bullet' to fix the issues plaguing his struggling team as another season threatens to peter out into obscurity.
