Bengaluru family boards flight to celebrate son's first day as captain; father's heartfelt LinkedIn post melts hearts: ‘Keep flying, keep enjoying!'
At 30,000 feet above the ground, a routine commercial flight turned into a deeply emotional journey for one
Bengaluru family
. For passengers on board, it was just another trip from Chandigarh to Bengaluru—but for Anil and Archana Choudhary, it marked a moment they would cherish for life. Their son, Atul Choudhary, was not just flying the aircraft—he was commanding it for the very first time as Captain.
The heartfelt milestone was captured in a touching post by Anil Kant Choudhary on LinkedIn, where he chronicled not just a flight, but a transformation: one that saw his son shift from the right seat as a Senior First Officer to the prestigious left seat of a Captain.
Three Feet and a Lifetime of Dreams
In his viral note, Anil beautifully captured the symbolic weight of this seemingly small change. 'If one moves his regular seating by 3 feet, how much can that change his responsibilities?' he wrote. 'If that person happens to be a pilot, this movement can bring significant change.' The move, while minimal in distance, represented a monumental leap in trust, responsibility, and honor.

From guiding co-pilots and crew to making crucial decisions that affect hundreds of lives in the air, the role of a Captain is that of a guardian of the skies. And on this particular Thursday, Atul took on that role with poise and professionalism.
The heartfelt milestone was captured in a touching post by Anil Kant Choudhary on LinkedIn, where he chronicled not just a flight, but a transformation: one that saw his son shift from the right seat as a Senior First Officer to the prestigious left seat of a Captain.
The Flight of a Family's Dreams
Learning of his son's final check and release flight—the last step before being officially designated a Captain—Anil and Archana wasted no time. They boarded a flight to Chandigarh the night before, determined to be part of this moment that had been years in the making. They managed to get seats on the same flight Atul would command—one that would not only transport passengers but elevate emotions.

The family's emotions culminated after landing in Bengaluru, where they celebrated Atul's official promotion—symbolized by the ceremonial switch from three stripes to four on his uniform.
Cheers from the Sky and the Ground
The celebration extended beyond the aircraft. IndiGo, the airline Atul flies for, responded warmly: 'Congratulations to you and your son,
Captain Atul Choudhary
! His dedication, hard work, and passion for flying have been recognised and celebrated. We couldn't be prouder!'
The post ignited a wave of admiration online, drawing hundreds of congratulatory comments. One user wrote, 'Your journey is a beautiful reminder of how elevation in responsibility reshapes not just the individual, but also those who support and believe in them.'
A Legacy of Dedication
Atul's journey to the captain's seat wasn't just his own. It was made possible by the mentors, instructors, and institutions that nurtured his flight training—from his school in Gondia to the CAE facilities in Madrid. Anil made sure to extend heartfelt thanks to all who played a part in Atul's growth.

Mount Etna eruption: Potential health risks locals are exposed to
Mount Etna is showing her natural might! As Europe's most active volcano erupted dramatically on June 2, sending massive plumes of ash and lava into the sky, Italy is currently facing significant turmoil among both locals and tourists due to the violent eruption. The eruption of Mount Etna released massive clouds of ash into the atmosphere and necessitated the evacuation of affected areas. The sudden volcanic activity has disrupted daily lives around the area, leading to emergency evacuations because of the hazardous conditions created by the thick ash fallout. What's happening? Mount Etna, Europe's most active volcano, erupted early on Monday, June 2, producing large plumes of smoke and prompting tourists to flee for their lives. Mount Etna has a distinct conical shape and reaches a height of nearly 3,400 meters due to centuries of continuous lava flows and explosive eruptions. The eruption began around 4 a.m. local time, with Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology reporting increasingly intense strombolian explosions. Etna, situated on Sicily's east coast near Catania and Taormina, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the world's most active stratovolcanoes, with annual eruptions. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like A transformação de Fausto Silva aos 74 anos é inaceitável. Paperela Undo While the immediate threat to life was minimal, the eruption poses significant health risks to nearby residents. Some of them are: Respiratory hazards from volcanic ash: Volcanic ash is composed of fine particles that can penetrate deep into the lungs, leading to respiratory issues. Inhalation of ash can cause coughing, throat irritation, and exacerbate chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma and bronchitis. A retrospective study from the 2002 eruption of Mount Etna found a significant increase in emergency department visits for acute respiratory diseases during periods of intense ash fall. Cardiovascular strain Exposure to volcanic ash can also strain the cardiovascular system. Fine particulate matter can enter the bloodstream, leading to inflammation and increased risk of heart attacks and strokes, particularly in individuals with pre-existing heart conditions. The same 2002 study observed a rise in cardiovascular-related emergency visits during the eruption period. Ocular and dermatological effects Ash particles can irritate the eyes, leading to conditions like conjunctivitis and corneal abrasions. Direct contact with ash can also cause skin irritation, especially if the ash is acidic. Residents are advised to wear protective eyewear and clothing when venturing outdoors during ashfall. Long-term health concerns Long-term exposure to volcanic ash and gases has been linked to increased cancer risks. A study highlighted by Scientific American suggests that residents near Mount Etna may face an elevated risk of thyroid cancer due to contaminants like magnesium, boron, iron, and vanadium found in the local water supply, which are leached from volcanic rocks. Vulnerable populations Certain groups are more susceptible to the health effects of volcanic activity. Children, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions such as respiratory or heart diseases are at higher risk. It's crucial for these populations to minimize exposure and seek medical advice if symptoms arise. Mitigation measures Local authorities have issued advisories urging residents to stay indoors during ashfall, keep windows and doors closed, and wear masks when going outside. Regular cleaning of ash from roofs and streets is essential to prevent accumulation and potential structural damage. While Mount Etna's recent eruption has not caused any immediate harm to residents, the associated health risks are quite significant. Ongoing monitoring and public health measures are extremely important to protect the local population from the adverse effects of the ongoing volcanic activity. 3 reasons why you should not swap your seats on a flight
In the age of viral plane dramas and mid-air etiquette debates, one seemingly harmless request has become the latest in-flight controversy: swapping seats. At first glance, it feels like a small act of kindness, a parent wants to sit with their child, a couple wants to be together, or someone just prefers the window. But as airlines get stricter, tech gets smarter, and passengers get bolder, changing your seat at 30,000 feet might do more harm than good. And yes, it could even cost you money, or your peace of mind. Accountability New York Post , citing cabin crew member Leanna Coy's TikTok video, shared her cautionary tale after swapping her aisle seat on a flight to Jordan. She explained that, while she's usually adamantly against such switches, she gave in this one time. only to immediately regret it. Coy warned that if the person you switch with causes trouble mid-air, the accountability might come back to you, since your name is still attached to that seat in the airline's system. Preloaded payments What's more, on United Airlines , where passengers preload payment details into the app to buy food and drinks, Coy was alarmed to realise that the person in her original seat could technically make purchases using the information linked to her seat number and account. Although she didn't suspect malicious intent, the experience left her anxious and wiser. She supports people if they don't want to switch seats, as she believes that one is entitled to the seat that they chose. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Access all TV channels anywhere, anytime Techno Mag Learn More Undo Protecting what you paid for Beyond security concerns, there's also the financial factor. As The Wall Street Journal reports, passengers like James Randolph are increasingly saying no to seat-swapping requests. The 35-year-old digital marketing director from Florida prefers to stay put, especially after paying extra for a specific seat. For many travellers, the rise in seat selection fees and basic economy limitations means that every inch of legroom or access to an aisle comes at a price. Refusing to switch isn't about being unfriendly; it's about protecting what you paid for.
