Ahmedabad: Screenshots of WhatsApp chats between the accused in the murder of Class 10 student Nayan Satani and his friend have gone viral on social media, shedding light on the aftermath of the crime.
In the chats, written in Hindi but typed in English, the accused allegedly admitted to stabbing Nayan. When asked by his friend if he had attacked the victim with a knife, the accused replied, "Haan to" (yes, so). He also identified the victim by name.
One of the chats reportedly showed the accused saying, "Are meko bolra tha ki koh hain kya karlega tu" (he was saying who are you, what will you do). The friend, in response, abused him and told him he should not have attacked Nayan with a knife.

Day 1: Pvt Buses Face 12 FIRs, 15 Challans Till 7Pm

1 2 Nagpur: On first day of rollout of the private bus parking ban, traffic police on Wednesday cracked down on vehicles parked illegally on roads, causing traffic jams. However, buses dropping off or picking passengers were spared. Cops registered 12 FIRs against bus operators for violating the recent order issued by DCP (Traffic) Lohit Matani and for causing danger by obstruction. Till evening, the cops dealt with the bus operators with velvet gloves. Instead of taking strict action, they asked bus operators to leave, and some even complied, fearing police action. Such was the impact of the city police action that by 9pm, Chhatrapati Square, which usually witnesses long lines of private buses, and traffic chaos because of it, was completely devoid of buses. The traffic department had on August 12 issued a notification banning the pick-up and drop service of private bus operators inside the Inner Ring Road boundary. Police also gave seven days to the operators to find locations, with the deadline of August 20. On Wedenesday, police launched the drive against the operators but focused on illegal parking and not the pick-up and drop service, which they had mentioned in the notification. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Europe Travel Hack That Saves You Hundreds on Trips! Learn More Undo Speaking to TOI, DCP Matani said police on Wednesday took action against private vehicles illegally parked on streets. "The drive will continue, and after some days, we will even intensify the action to clear the city roads," said the DCP, adding that many vehicles were parked on roads for more than 45 minutes. Police deployed 21 officers and 70 personnel for the drive. Till 7pm, cops had registered 12 FIRs and also seized vehicles, which were later sent to the respective police station. The FIRs were registered under section 223 and 285 of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. Cops also imposed a 5,000 fine on 15 vehicles under the Motor Vehicle Act for illegal parking. TOI on Wednesday also visited many spots in the city where private buses pick-up and drop passengers. Interestingly, during afternoon hours, at locations like Chhatrapati Square, Bole Petrol Pump, Ravi Nagar, Rahate Colony, and Central Avenue, the private operators were picking up and dropping passengers like usual. However, by evening, the police went into action and started cracking down heavily. However, police also started removing the buses rather than only issuing challans. "On Wednesday, we focused mainly on Chhatrapati Square and Central Avenue, where the menace of private buses is higher," said DCP Matani. Meanwhile, the process of identifying locations for private buses for pay and park is also underway inside city limits. Police also made announcements against parking of private buses at Chhatrapati Square. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Labourer who strangled woman (65) for money arrested after gunfight in Noida

Noida: A murder accused was arrested after an encounter with Badalpur police near an abandoned railway crossing at Roza Yakubpur on Tuesday night. Pappu Mistri (27), a resident of Chhapraula, was the main suspect in the murder of an elderly woman who lived near Vidya World School. Pappu allegedly committed the crime on Aug 3 at the victim's house, where he strangled her and fled with her jewellery and mobile phone. According to police, the arrest was made by a police team that was conducting checks near the closed railway gate. A man was spotted approaching, and when signalled to stop, he tried to flee. Suspecting foul play, cops chased him. In retaliatory firing, he sustained a bullet injury and was overpowered," said DCP (central Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy. The accused was rushed to a hospital for treatment. A country-made .315 bore pistol, a live and an empty cartridge, a Samsung mobile phone, two earrings, a floral nose pin, and a blade were recovered from his possession. "The recovery of the stolen ornaments from him further establishes his involvement in the murder case," DCP Avasthy said. A case was registered against him under BNS Section 103(1) (murder). Police have initiated further legal proceedings against the accused and are investigating whether he was involved in other crimes in the region. Sources in the police revealed that they initially received information about the 65-year-old woman's body found inside her house. On reaching the spot, police found the woman strangled with her throat slit. Three teams were formed, and a case was registered against unknown persons by the daughter of the deceased at the Badalpur police station. "It was earlier suspected that the murder was carried out for property, but the investigations revealed that the accused worked as a labourer in the area and knew the old woman. On Aug 3, he consumed alcohol, entered the victim's house and committed the crime before fleeing. He also took her phone away to transfer the money from her account," the officer said. Man sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering wife

1 2 Kanpur: Additional sessions judge, Kanpur Nagar, on Wednesday sentenced accused Antim Kumar Tiwari alias Ankit Tiwari to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 25,000 for the murder of his wife. The judge also observed that if the accused failed to pay the fine, he would have to serve an additional three months in jail. Earlier, the defence counsel had pleaded that since it was Antim's first offence and he had no criminal history; therefore, he should be punished with the minimum sentence. On the other hand, the prosecution argued that the accused had killed his wife, Rinki, by hitting her with a spade and should be awarded a maximum sentence. According to ADGC Shiv Bhagwan Goswami, Prince Jaiswal in his complaint stated that he was a dal mill owner, and Antim Kumar Tiwari, a labourer, a resident of Madarpur district Sultanpur, had been residing inside the mill campus for the past three months. On September 10, 2010 Jaiswal went to his mill and observed that Ankit and his wife were not present. He and Madan, a mechanic, opened the door of the room and found Rinki lying bleeding, and Ankit was missing. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Indonesia: New Container Houses (Prices May Surprise You) Container House | Search ads Search Now Undo Goswami stated that the case was decided on circumstantial evidence as there was no material witness. The judge in her order observed that it was proven that the accused Antim Kumar lived in a room within the Dal Mill compound with his wife. One day earlier, he had locked the main gate of the mill on the owner's instructions and was last seen with the deceased Rinki. The post-mortem report revealed that her death had occurred 36 hours earlier, therefore, it was established that he was with her at the time of the offence. Moreover, the accused had not contradicted the prosecution's evidence and facts, thereby proving that he had committed the offence.
