It appears that Detroit Red Wings and Grand Rapids Griffins fans will get to celebrate a feel-good story today.
According to the Griffins' social media page on X (formerly known as Twitter), a promising young forward prospect will return to the lineup tonight.

Amadeus Lombardi has been injured since December 1st, but he looks ready to return now.
The social media team posted a hype video. It mostly plays highlights of Lombardi, mixed with some X comments and a text conversation with Lombardi himself.

It's been two months since Griffins head coach Dan Watson told the media that Lombardi would be out for a, "little while."
Tonight, the Griffins play the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at Van Andel Arena. This will be their third meeting this season.

Red Wings to retire 1,179 point forward's number originally appeared on The Sporting News The Detroit Red Wings have announced today that they will be retiring Sergei Federov's number 91. He will be the 9th Red Wing in franchise history to have his number retired by the squad. Sergei Federov played 13 seasons with Detroit from 1990-2003. In 908 regular season games with the organization he amassed 400 goals and 554 assists for 954 points, which ranks 6th all time for Detroit. In the playoffs he totaled 50 goals and 113 assists for 163 points in 162 games, which is good for 3rd in Red Wings history. Federov was drafted in the 4th round of the 1989 draft by Detroit. He won three Stanley Cups with the Wings in 1997, 1998, and 2002. He won the Hart, Selke and Lester B. Pearson awards in the 93-94 season. He also won another Selke trophy in the 1995-96 season. Sergei was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015. What is Sergei Federov's legacy? Sergei Federov will be remembered as one of the first NHL stars from Russia, making his mark especially in the 1990s. He was known for his offensive skill, but also his two-way play being defensively responsible as well. He was a key core part of a Detroit era that witnessed the most successful period in Red Wings history. After his tenure with Hockeytown, Federov had stints with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals. Over the course of his entire 1248 game career, he tallied 483 goals and 696 assists for 1179 points in the regular season. In the playoffs, he touted 52 goals and 124 assists for 176 points in 183 games.

Rangers trio gets US Olympic team-building camp invite
The NHL's return to the Olympics is starting to feel real. Rangers Adam Fox, J.T. Miller and Vincent Trocheck were invited to the U.S. men's Olympic orientation camp, USA Hockey announced on Tuesday. The camp will be held from Aug. 26-27 in Plymouth, Mich., and will largely serve as an administrative and team-building event with no formal on-ice activity.
