United Nations calls for allowing "International Criminal Court" to perform duties independently
New York-Saba:
The Deputy Spokesperson for the United Nations, Farhan Haq, called on Friday for allowing the International Criminal Court to perform its duties with complete independence.
This came during a press conference in New York, commenting on US President Donald Trump's imposition of sanctions on the International Criminal Court.
Haq stressed that the International Criminal Court is an essential element in combating the phenomenon of impunity prevalent in the world.
He said: "The International Criminal Court must be allowed to perform its duties with complete independence."
In response to a question about whether Trump's decision would apply to those visiting the United Nations headquarters in New York, Haq replied: "We are waiting for the host country (the United States) to take steps related to individuals in accordance with the United Nations Headquarters Agreement."
Haq pointed out that the UN Headquarters Agreement imposes certain obligations on the host country, stressing that they "expect the United States to abide by these obligations."

UNRWA: Aid distribution system in Gaza "death trap" not Aimed at addressing hunger
Gaza – Saba: Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini has said that another day of aid distribution in Gaza is another day of death traps. In a statement on Tuesday, Lazzarini explained that day after day, dozens of people are reported killed and wounded at distribution points run by Israel and private security companies. He added that this degrading system continues to force thousands of hungry and needy people to walk dozens of kilometers, excluding the most vulnerable and those living in remote areas. Lazzarini emphasized that this system is not intended to address hunger. The UN official continued: "Aid must be delivered and distributed safely and on a large scale. This can only be achieved in Gaza through the United Nations, including UNRWA, which has the experience, knowledge, and trust of the community." Lazzarini stressed that "Israel" must lift the blockade and allow the United Nations safe and unhindered access to deliver and distribute aid safely. This is the only way to avoid widespread starvation, including for one million children. He pointed out that more than 12,000 UNRWA staff provide health, sanitation, and psychosocial services in one of the harshest and most difficult environments. Lazzarini revealed that UNRWA warehouses outside Gaza are filled with the equivalent of 6,000 truckloads of aid, and he considered deliberately allowing food to spoil and medicines to expire to be outrageous. Earlier on Tuesday, the government media office in Gaza confirmed, in a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that the death toll at the "Israeli-American aid distribution centers" since this morning had risen to 36, with more than 208 injured. This brings the total death toll at the "Israeli-American aid distribution centers" to 163 martyrs and 1,495 injured, all of them starving civilians seeking a living under siege and starvation. With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has continued to commit crimes of genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in the death of 54,981 Palestinian citizens, the majority of whom are children and women, and the injury of 126,920 others. This is a preliminary toll, with thousands of victims still under the rubble and on the streets, unable to be reached by ambulance and rescue crews. Hamas condemns targeting of Paramedics in Gaza as war crime
Gaza – Saba: Hamas on Tuesday condemned the criminal Zionist enemy's targeting of an ambulance crew on Monday evening in al-Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City. The incident resulted in the deaths of three paramedics while on duty, which Hamas termed a "complex war crime" added to Israel's "black record" of war crimes against Palestinians. In a statement, Hamas stated that targeting those providing aid to victims represents an "unprecedented level of brutality and criminality" and reveals the enemy's attempts to "stifle all means of survival and rescue in Gaza." The movement called on the international community and the United Nations to assume their responsibility to stop these crimes, hold fascist leaders accountable, and salvage the credibility of the international system, which it says faces a historic test in the face of genocide and the targeting of humanitarian personnel in Gaza. Palestinian resistance factions call for pressure on Zionist entity, US administration to resume aid distribution through international organizations
Gaza – Saba: Palestinian resistance factions said on Monday that US aid distribution centers have turned into death traps targeting the starving Palestinian people driven by hunger and thirst. They emphasized that these fake centers have become daily massacres before the eyes of the entire world. In a statement, a copy of it received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), The factions added: "In the face of all this injustice and oppression to which our people are subjected, we, the Palestinian resistance factions, emphasize that the primary goal of the so-called US aid distribution centers is to end the mission of UNRWA and liquidate the Palestinian cause as a political issue, transforming it into a relief and humanitarian one. This is to accelerate the crime of forced displacement, ethnic cleansing, and the emptying of the Gaza Strip of its people and residents, in implementation of the criminal Trump plan." The statement called on "all international and Arab legal and judicial organizations, and all free people around the world, to prosecute the inhumane American security establishment, which is carrying out a suspicious security and intelligence role and has caused the martyrdom of more than 126 of our people, who are suffering from famine due to the criminal Zionist siege." It also called for "pressure on the Zionist entity and the US administration to resume the distribution of relief aid through international organizations affiliated with the United Nations, foremost among them UNRWA, as it is the only agency capable of carrying out this mission, given its legal capacity, practical experience, and competencies to preserve the lives, dignity, and humanity of our people in Gaza." The statement warned "all Palestinian people against being lured by any false promises from the Zionist occupation or its mercenaries, agents, and thieves. We also warn any family, institutional entity, or suspicious company against collaborating with the Zionist enemy's plans to create suspicious and agentic alternatives to UNRWA." It stressed that "the resistance's security forces and groups now have the full authority and authorization to strike with all force and determination at the hands of any body or person who intersects with or responds to the enemy's plans or any agent who is outside the law and the traditions and customs of our people, and that all agents, thieves, and criminal armed gangs will be a legitimate target for the resistance's security forces and groups, and he who has been warned is excused."
