Prison warden dies after cement lorry rams into his motorcycle
MELAKA: A prison warden with the rank of sergeant died after being hit by a cement lorry while riding a motorcycle at the traffic light intersection in Sungai Udang on the Sungai Udang–Paya Rumput–Ayer Keroh (SPA) Highway here yesterday.
Central Melaka district police chief ACP Christopher Patit said the victim, Amal Nurlidar Ghazali, 42, who worked at the Dusun Datuk Murad Prison in Ayer Keroh, died at the scene after suffering serious injuries in the incident at about 5.50 pm.
'Investigations found that the cement lorry was travelling from Bukit Rambai towards Masjid Tanah. Upon arriving at the scene, the vehicle was believed to have had a brake problem before the 49-year-old driver swerved to the left shoulder of the road.
'However, the vehicle hit the victim who was riding a Yamaha Ego Solariz motorcycle. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene,' he said in a statement here today.
He said the victim's body was taken to Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem while the cement lorry was taken to the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (Puspakom) for damage inspection.
He said the lorry driver, who tested negative for drugs, was detained for further investigation and a remand application will be made at the Magistrate's Court today.

Around 200 people, including family members, close relatives and villagers, gathered at the house compound to receive the body. A sombre atmosphere filled the air as the body was brought into the house and funeral prayers were performed, joined by more than 50 congregants. The victim was laid to rest at 8pm last night. It was reported that the 32-year-old suspect had allegedly murdered the victim and set fire to several vehicles at his in-laws' house before he had surrendered himself to the police. The suspect had walked into the Bukit Gambir police station at 7am on June 3 and reportedly told the police had slashed his wife and committed arson. He had been remanded for seven day s to facilitate investigations into the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 435 of the same Code for committing mischief.

Woman accused of threatening, distributing nude photos of co-wife freed on police bail
MELAKA: A woman who was detained by the police for allegedly threatening and distributing nude photos of her co-wife has been released on police bail. Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said the 53-year-old woman, who works as an investment agent, was released after her remand period ended. "The police have also completed recording statements from the mother of four to assist with the investigation," he said via WhatsApp. According to reports, the suspect was remanded for two days to facilitate investigations under Sections 507 and 509 of the Penal Code. She was initially arrested at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) around 10.15pm on Sunday by a team of police officers upon her return from a holiday. The woman had been classified as a wanted individual in connection with the case following a report lodged by her co-wife, a 47-year-old school teacher in Subang Jaya, Selangor.

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Police have arrested a woman in a polyamorous marriage who allegedly threatened and shared nude photos of her husband's second wife. According to Berita Harian, the Melaka magistrates' court allowed the police to remand the suspect for four days to assist in their investigation. The woman's lawyer, Sheikh Ikhzan Sheikh Salleh, had opposed the remand order, arguing that this was merely a domestic case. The case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, and Section 509 for outraging a person's modesty. A source said the 53-year-old woman was arrested at KLIA last night after returning from a holiday in Austria. She was wanted by police after the second wife – a 47-year-old teacher in Selangor – lodged a police report. The source said the victim was informed by her father that the suspect – a mother of four – had sent him photos of her (the second wife) and her husband in the nude. 'Fearing that the nude photos would be spread and having been harassed by the suspect, the complainant filed a police report on March 27,' the source said. Melaka Tengah police chief Christopher Patit confirmed the arrest, but declined to disclose details of the case.
