Firefighters battle 720-acres blaze in Green Lake County's White River Marsh
Dubbed the Big Island Fire, the blaze ignited around 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Fire crews have managed to hold the fire to the south side of County Road D.

Two residences have been evacuated, and six structures remain threatened, though none have been lost. No injuries have been reported.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is on the scene alongside ten local fire departments and law enforcement agencies.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities confirmed that no DNR-approved or private prescribed burns were in the area at the time of ignition. The fire is currently burning on both state and private land.

Red Cross delivers aid from Green Bay to flooded Milwaukee neighborhoods
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The American Red Cross of Wisconsin is providing shelter, supplies, and support to those affected by extreme flooding in Milwaukee and surrounding communities. Floodwaters have destroyed homes and displaced residents across the region. According to a press release from the Red Cross, on Monday night, Red Cross shelters at Holler Park and Washington Park Senior Center housed 23 people in need of a safe place to stay. An Emergency Response Vehicle loaded with supplies left Green Bay this morning for Milwaukee, where the items will be distributed to flood victims. Anyone needing shelter can go to Holler Park, 5151 S. 6th St., Milwaukee. Services include meals, water, blankets, phone charging, pet accommodations, and medical assistance such as replacing prescriptions, eyeglasses, or essential medical equipment. Minnesota DNR hopes to find positives after Alice Lake drains due to "mechanical issue"
Nearly a week after a mechanical failure led to millions of gallons of water dumping out of Alice Lake at William O'Brien State Park, Minnesota's Department of Natural Resources is trying to focus on the positive. The state agency is also working to learn how other parks can prevent similar malfunctions. A broken valve prevented park staff from closing a water control structure after they opened it to drain excess rainwater. On Friday, DNR staff told WCCO the valve should have been replaced nearly 30 years ago. Other parks across the state currently have similar, aging infrastructure. To replace the dozens of necessary parts would cost nearly $20 million. The DNR is not setting a timetable on when water could be back, but says meetings are happening across the agency to discuss using this time to eradicate invasive weeds and replace them with native grasses – something that couldn't happen under 9 feet of water. Staff are also working to create a plan to make any replacement "climate resilient," as increased rainfall could pose more wear and tear on the system. "It's an extremely unfortunate situation, what happened here, but it's an opportunity to step back, reset and think about what we can create for the future that will be better," said Rachel Hopper, visitor services and outreach manager with Minnesota's DNR.
