A MAJOR pizza chain has temporarily shut 13 restaurants in the UK after a concerning review sparked their closure.
The 13 American-themed stores have been scrapped in the South West with nine of them in Devon.

Papa John's made the decision after a performance review of the franchised outlets.
The pizza chain confirmed: "We hold all our restaurants to the highest standards and expect our franchisees to operate with integrity and in line with our values.
"Following a thorough review, we have ended our relationship with this franchisee."
It kept further details under wraps and said Papa John's is urgently looking for new owners of the sites.
Papa John's continued: "While the stores are temporarily closed, we are working to secure new ownership and reopen as soon as possible.
"Our priority is delivering quality pizza and a great experience for our customers, while supporting our teams through this transition."
It's not been confirmed how many jobs will be lost following the shock closures.
This comes shortly after the fan-favourite restaurant dropped a new range featuring three brand new pizzas starting for less than a tenner last month.

The new flavours are perfect for cheese-enthusiasts as all of the mains have been loaded with cheddar.
Putting an iconic American favourite on top of pizza, the first bold flavour is the Cheeseburger Pizza.
A unique blend of spicy beef, fresh tomatoes and Heinz Burger Sauce should be found on every slice.
Meanwhile, the Grilled Cheese pizza has been topped with cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
Combined with panko breadcrumbs and creamy bechamel, the pizza could be perfect for a night in.
Those liking this one but hoping to more protein could instead choose the Grilled Ham & Cheese.
A so-called "crowd pleaser" those wanting an extra something on the side could even add the new boneless chicken thighs to their basket.
Earlier this year, customers were offered the chance to earn points when ordering online for the first time with the brand.
Customers can now earn one point for every £1 spent via the app or online.
For every 20 points collected, £3 of "Papa Dough" is awarded - meaning that for every £20 spent on pizza will automatically grant a discount off the next purchase.
As part of the new and improved system, hungry Brits will earn points at a rate four times higher than before and won't have to wait to use their rewards.

I could have closed gap to Celtic, insists former Rangers boss Philippe Clement
Clement felt he was working on a long-term project after the board told him to cut the wage bill last summer and develop younger players to fuel future spending. But his reign ended in February after back-to-back home defeats by Queen's Park and St Mirren left them out of the Scottish Cup and 13 points adrift of Celtic in the Premiership. Russell Martin has now been installed as his permanent successor after an interim stint from Barry Ferguson and the financial backdrop has changed following a takeover by an American consortium. 'It's a pity that the story stopped, that the board didn't have the patience or maybe listened too much to some fans,' Clement told BBC Scotland. 'There are other clubs where there is a difficult moment and everybody sticks together because everybody knows the story, how the work is done inside the building, and they continue and they are successful afterwards. 'In three or four windows, we could have closed the gap with a good development of players, but the decision is made and you need to accept it.' Clement pointed out that this time last year he was told the club's spending was not sustainable 'There was not fresh investment in the club, but the money available for the transfers would be the sale of players, so the amount you can get out of that,' he added. 'That was not much at the end, because the squad was with a lot of older players. So people didn't want to pay any more for them. Six players were out of contract, so they left for free.' The Belgian added that the wage bill was cut by 35 per cent in order to rebuild the squad. 'And the idea was, and that was clearly said at the board, that the club needed three, four transfer windows to get at the level of Celtic, because you have to gain money again by bringing young players in, developing them, making them better, selling them and getting money to make the squad better and better in the next two, three years,' he added. Clement believes progress has been made in that sense with the development of the likes of Nico Raskin, Jefte, Hamza Igamane and Clinton Nsiala. 'If they say there's no new investment, I now understand why,' he said. 'Because at the end, some people were already thinking about selling the club and selling their stocks.' Clement claimed Rangers under-achieved domestically but over-achieved in the Europa League and felt some players were not ready for the demands of competing on both fronts. 'I think it's normal in the financial situation the club was, but it's not good enough,' he said. 'But you need patience then to build it or you need to spend money. It's one of the two. Without one of the two, it's an impossible job.' Clement hopes his successor gets that backing. 'I hope that there comes stability, to work in a good way with the players, with the staff, with everybody in the club, to have a consistent story,' he said. 'I think that's a big part that the club has been lacking for years and I hope that the new owners can bring that for the club and for the manager also, for the players.'

Sen. Cory Booker says he won't accept campaign donations from Elon Musk
Sen. Cory Booker on Sunday said that he would not accept campaign donations from tech mogul Elon Musk but urged the former Trump advisor to "get involved right now in a more substantive way" in Democrats' push against the sweeping GOP-backed spending bill. "This bill is disastrous for our long-term economy," Booker told NBC News' "Meet the Press." "This is an American issue, and I welcome Elon Musk not to my campaign. I welcome him right now, not to sit back and just fire off tweets, get involved right now in a more substantive way, in putting pressure on Congress people and senators to not do this." Asked directly whether he would ever accept campaign funding from Musk, Booker said, "I would not accept money from Elon Musk for my campaign, but I would be supportive of anybody, including Elon Musk, putting resources forward right now to let more Americans know," about the bill. Booker's remarks come as other Democrats, like California Rep. Ro Khanna, have floated welcoming Musk into the Democratic party after a feud between President Donald Trump and the Tesla and SpaceX CEO exploded into public view last week. "We should ultimately be trying to convince him that the Democratic Party has more of the values that he agrees with,' Khanna told Politico last week after Musk and Trump fired off a series of social media posts online criticizing each other. The falling out started after Musk called the budget bill a "disgusting abomniation" in a post on X. In subsequent posts on Truth Social, the president accused Musk of "wearing thin" and said "he just went crazy." Musk later accused Trump of " ingratitude" in another post on X after he spent $250 million boosting Trump's campaign in 2024 and accused Trump of links to deceased sex offender Jeff Epstein in a now-deleted post. On Saturday, in a phone call with NBC News, Trump said he has no desire to repair his relationship with Musk after their public spat. The president also responded to a direct question about what might happen if Musk decided to financially support Democrats in the 2026 midterm elections, days after Musk wrote in a post on X,"In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people," appearing to refer to Republicans who voted for the GOP-backed spending bill in the House. 'If he does, he'll have to pay the consequences for that,' Trump told NBC News, adding that there could be "serious consequences." In May, House Republicans passed a sweeping domestic policy bill called the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" that extends tax cuts passed in the first Trump administration, increases funding for border security and eliminates federal taxes on tips and overtime pay. The bill has also drawn scrutiny from Democrats for slashing funding for Medicaid and some food stamps while implementing work requirements for Medicaid, which provides healthcare for low income Americans. Musk and some Senate Republicans have blasted the bill for estimated effects it could have on the federal debt and deficit, though Trump and House Republicans have downplayed those concerns.
