Artists to document rewilding project

BBC News13-05-2025
A group of artists are visiting a heathland rewilding site to capture its changing flora, fauna and landscape.Thirty artists from The Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) will spend time this year at The Massingham Heath Project in west Norfolk.Half of the land at the 2,500-acre site (1,000 hectares) is being re-wilded to benefit nature, while half is used for conventional agriculture. An exhibition and book documenting how the landscape changes throughout the seasons are being produced.
Land owner Oliver Birkbeck said: "They're looking at the health as well as the agricultural landscape, the farm-scape because it is all part of the same story." He described the artists as "rock stars" and said he was so proud for them to visit the site - which is east of King's Lynn and Sandringham."The job of the natural world is to in some way elevate us from the boring imperatives of our daily lives. That's also the job of the artist. So this is a marriage of the two which I think is a really beautiful thing," he added. Melanie Mascarenhas has a background in science and worked for many years in the NHS before joining the SWLA.She said: "It's a huge privilege to be here, not just on the heath, which is magnificent , but to be with artists you admire. "I've been mostly focusing on beetles and it's taken me back to the start of my wildlife drawing journey where I would always focus on invertebrates."
Artist Darren Woodhead praised the light and the way it was falling on the plants and birds. "You feel like you are going back 100 years in this landscape," he said. "I've not seen hedgerows like this, big wide hedgerows, big avenues next to them, amazing corridors for wildlife." The project will culminate in a book to be published in autumn 2026, with text from author, naturalist and Norfolk Wildlife Trust ambassador Nick Acheson.

Danny Jones puts on a united display with wife Georgia during idyllic family holiday ahead of 'awkward reunion' with Maura Higgins at the NTAs

Danny Jones put on a united display with wife Georgia Horsley while on holiday on Saturday ahead of a potential 'awkward' run-in with Maura Higgins at the upcoming National Television Awards. The married I'm A Celebrity winner, 39, hit headlines in March after spending the evening with the former Love Island star, 34, at Universal Music's BRIT Awards afterparty, where they were spotted in a compromising clinch. However, amid the reports, the McFly singer appeared to be keen to show that he and wife Georgia, 38, were happier than ever as they enjoyed a sunny holiday with their son Cooper, seven. Danny took to Instagram to document the trip, looking smart in a white striped shirt as he shared sweet snaps with his loved ones. He also uploaded some scenic snaps of the unknown location as well as a video of a bikini-clad Georgia on a speedboat. Since the kiss scandal, neither Danny nor Maura have attended any of the same events, but now the I'm a Celebrity stars could soon come face to face, as they walk the red carpet for the National Television Awards at the beginning of September. Since the scandal, neither have attended any of the same events, but now Danny and Maura, could soon come face to face at the National Television Awards at the beginning of September The ITV jungle show has picked up 15 nominations and is traditionally shortlisted for Best Entertainment category. In the past, the winner of I'm A Celebrity has joined hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly on stage as they collect the gong - meaning Danny could be at risk of bumping into Maura. A source told The Sun: 'Danny is expected to attend NTAs on September 10, as have all previous reigning jungle winners and Maura is also going. 'She is the queen of a red carpet moment and adores getting glammed up. There will have to be some clever choreography to ensure they don't end up next to each other when walking the red carpet but they could both end up on stage if I'm A Celebrity wins. They added: 'Maura won't be answering any questions about the kiss. She's put the incident behind her and feels she has nothing to be ashamed of.' The Daily Mail contacted Danny and Maura's representatives for comment. At the time of the incident, Danny, apologised to his wife and family for 'putting them in this situation'. Georgia, who is a former Miss England, temporarily moved out of the family home in the wake of the kissing scandal back in April. But after deciding to give their marriage a second chance, she returned to the property as sources claimed Danny was willing to do 'anything to make it work.' In recent weeks, Danny has been quietly working on repairing the couples 11 year marriage, with the pair enjoying their recent family holiday. It comes after Danny and Georgia shared some photos of each other on social media earlier this month, a reunion with Georgia's family last month. In July, Georgia and Danny revealed they had been catching up with his mother Kathy as the trio headed to watch Oasis' first of seven reunion shows at Wembley Stadium. In their first high-profile outing together since the scandal, Danny and Georgia appeared happier than ever in a black-and-white picture shared to Instagram. They gazed lovingly at one another while Kathy stood in the middle of them as they all shared a laugh together ahead of the concert. Just days before the gig, Danny and Georgia took to social media to share a photograph of them together as they caught up with her family. In the past, the winner of I'm A Celebrity has joined hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly on stage as they collect the gong - meaning Danny could be at risk of bumping into Maura The shot showed Danny and Georgia standing in a crowd of relatives, including seven-year-old son Cooper, while both beamed for the camera. She captioned the post: 'And then there was 17. My family are dotted all over the world so getting all of us together at once is near on impossible which makes days like this even more special. 'Cousins, aunties, uncles, parents, husbands, wives, kids… my house was full and my heart happy. Missed you Si.'

Frankie Bridge lands new ITV role away from Loose Women amid feud drama

FRANKIE Bridge has bagged herself a brand new role at ITV away from Loose Women. The Saturdays star has seen her name linked to an ITV feud with her Loose Women co-star Myleene Klass and her former bandmate Rochelle Humes in recent weeks. 5 5 The Sun told how ITV had been forced to step-in to ensure there was little-to-no interaction between the former friends amid feelings of tension between the trio. But in a huge boost to Frankie, she has cemented her position at ITV even further after bagging a brand new role on the channel. The singer will be appearing as a judge on the upcoming series of ITV's M&S: Dress The Nation. Frankie has launched her own fashion edits on social media in recent years and was always noted for her style during her popstar days. ITV were quick to jump on this and hire her to give her best critique's to the contestants on the hit show. It was revealed earlier this year that Dress The Nation would be back with Vernon Kay and AJ Odudu back in the hot seat to host. A source told the Daily Star of Frankie's casting on the show: "Producers think Frankie is perfect for the show because she's so fashionable." It will no doubt raise the eyebrow of Rochelle, who is a long-standing brand ambassador for Marks & Spencer, which has an active partnership in the programme. Despite rumours of a rift between the ladies, they dropped huge clues recently that all was well between them. Rochelle and Frankie have both been interacting with one another on Instagram by liking a slew of each other's snaps. Rochelle showed her appreciation for Frankie's holiday snaps with Frankie returning the favour on her bandmate's posts - throwing speculation of an ongoing rift out of the window. Watch the awkward moment feuding stars Myleene Klass and Frankie Bridge come face to face on live TV However, neither of the ladies have engaged with Myleene since it emerged that the former Hear'Say singer was feuding with them both. Neither Rochelle or Frankie follow her on social media. All three former pop stars now work as Daytime presenters at ITV. They were all once close, with Loose Women hosts Myleene and Frankie attending Rochelle's hen do back in 2012. However, Rochelle and Frankie remained friends with their former bodyguard and Myleene's ex husband Graham Quinn. 5 Rochelle even posted snaps with Graham in Ibiza last week. In 2013, soon after Myleene's divorce from Graham, guests at the Glamour Women of the Year awards saw her storm over to Frankie after believing she had been blanked. A source previously said: 'Myleene seemed to take that as Frankie taking sides with Graham because of their working relationship." Meanwhile, Frankie and Myleene have not appeared on Loose Women together since an 'awkward' episode last December. Sources said that though they'd rather not be on together, they are professionals and do their best to make things work. Myleene's shock feud explained Myleene Klass has found herself embroiled in a bitter feud. It all kicked off when she made shock claims about her ex-husband Graham Quinn. The former Hear'say star claimed that she walked in on her ex and a famous woman in the industry "unzipping" each other's clothes. Myleene said the heartbreaking moment happened in her home at her own birthday party. Speaking on We Need To Talk podcast, Myleene said: "It was in my house, it was my party. "They weren't having sex but they were unzipping each other. 'It's not what you think,' but it is what I think. It's the first thing they both said. "I kicked everybody out of the party including his mum and dad." Graham is yet to respond publicly to the accusations. However, it has ignited a feud with fellow noughties popstars, Rochelle Humes and Frankie Bridge. The two Saturdays stars are both former clients of Graham, and have remained friends with him. Friends told The Sun that Myleene's claims about Graham have caused tension between her, Rochelle and Frankie. Shortly after she dropped the cheating bombshell, Frankie then posted a cryptic video, which said that somebody was 'dead to me'. Rochelle then shared a cosy snap with Graham, along with husband Marvin Humes. In a further twist, sources claim that Rochelle gave Myleene's ex a place to stay when she dumped him.

Maya Jama was cold towards me on Love Island – but I struggle with English after being schooled in Spain, claims Blu

TWICE axed Love Islander Blu Chegini has claimed that show host Maya Jama was "cold" towards him during his time on the show. Blu became best known for two very short-lived stints on the ITV2 programme and for failing to find a solid connection during his time in the villa. 4 But since his second exit from the Majorcan compound, he has since claimed to have received the cold shoulder from host Maya. During his first stay, Blu was coupled up with Alima but it soon transpired there was not a connection between the pair. However, Blu faced online backlash with some suggesting he had written off a connection with Alima too quick. Blu has now suggested that this could have been the reason behind Maya's apparent disdain for him. In a new interview he said of Maya: "Maya Jama was cold towards me because I was opinionated, or maybe the whole Alima controversy has turned her off me. "I got backlash for saying Alima wasn't my type, I wasn't her type either. She didn't get backlash." The Sun has contacted a representative for Maya Jama for comment. Speaking to to Simon Gross on Get Gossy With Grossy, Blu also went on to admit that sometimes his comments on the show could have been misconstrued due to his struggled with speaking English. The star was educated in Spain and he admitted this had an impact on the way he communicated inside the villa. Blu said: "I am now working on communication, personal development. Love Island in new fix row as fans hit out at 'massive rule break' "I was angry in the show, I struggle with English as I was schooled in Spain. "I love women, I have respect for women. I couldn't play the villain card; it's not in my nature." Blu was originally dumped from the villa in week one when it was left down to himself and Shea Mannings to self-evict from the show. After a showdown in which he famously insisted he "wasn't f***ing leaving," Blu walked out of the villa. He returned over a month later for a second shot at love but failed to find a connection and was soon axed as a result of a public vote which saw him and Helena Ford given the boot a week before the final as a result of being in a friendship couple. 4 4
