Man arrested after allegedly firebombing Vietnamese restaurant at Marrickville in Sydney's inner west
The alleged attacks occurred across two consecutive nights in the courtyard behind popular local restaurant Eat Fuh on Tuohy Lane in Marrickville.
Emergency services were first called to extinguish a blaze on May 29.
The following night, CCTV allegedly shows a man throwing accelerant and suspected fireworks from his car towards the restaurant.
A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist police and an investigation was launched.
An Ettalong tobacconist that was completely destroyed in an arson attack last year may be linked to the restaurant attack, NSW Police said.
'We believe that the tobacconist was targeted to eliminate competition,' Detective Superintendent Gordon Arbinja said.
'We believe that the man depicted (on CCTV) is linked to both incidents despite them being 100km away.
'The only link we have is we believe these people were recruited by organised criminal networks, and they freelance for organised criminal networks to do these acts.'
NSW Police conducted two search warrants in San Remo and Blue Haven on the state's Central Coast on July 15.
A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of damaged property by fire/explosion, among other offences.
He was refused bail, and is due to front court again later this year.

Domestic violence-accused driver fighting for life after police chase crash
A driver wanted over alleged domestic violence crimes has been flung from his car. He had been attempting to evade police during a pursuit through the Western Sydney region, before a four-vehicle crash that left him fighting for life on Friday, NSW Police said. The 33-year-old man was first spotted by police on Great Western Hwy at Bowenfels, driving a red hatchback on what 7NEWS understands was allegedly a disqualified learner's licence, about 5am. WATCH THE VIDEO: Police chase ends in devastating crash for domestic-violence accused driver 'The man was wanted on two outstanding warrants for domestic violence related offences,' police said. The car fled as police approached and lost sight of the wanted man, but patrols located the car about 7am on Werriway St at South Littleton. 'It allegedly rammed a police vehicle and drove at a police officer,' NSW Police said. There were no reports of injuries after the ramming, but a police chase ensued shortly after on Bells Line of Rd but was later called off due to 'due to the dangerous manner of driving'. A second police chase began in Faulconbridge, but was again called off for safety reasons. A police chopper tracked the car to Penrith, where the hatchback hit road spikes that had been deployed on Castlereagh Rd and Cranebrook Rd. The red hatchback continued on Castlereagh Rd and smashed into a Toyota SUV, a Sprinter van, and a Hyundai. The 33-year-old man was flung from the hatchback, and suffered serious head injuries. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. The driver of the SUV — a 35-year-old man — was the only other person who was injured, and was treated for minor hand injuries. A crime scene was established, and an investigation is ongoing. Anyone with relevant information or dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Children and elderly among those caught in terrifying gunfire incidents across Sydney as police confirm no injuries
A quiet Friday evening in Sydney descended into chaos after two homes in separate suburbs were peppered with gunfire within hours of each other, prompting urgent investigations by NSW Police. The first incident unfolded just after 8pm on Queen Street, Croydon Park, when shots rang out in a residential neighbourhood. Authorities say a number of adults and children were inside the home when a lone individual approached the front of the property and opened fire. Witnesses at the scene told police that the suspect stood outside the house and discharged two rounds from a pistol before fleeing. The shooter was seen getting into the driver's seat of a hatchback, which was later observed heading north along Travistock Street. Inside the home at the time were a 44-year-old man, three women aged 40, 51, and 71, along with two young children, aged five and six. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Investigators say early indications suggest the Croydon Park shooting was 'targeted'. A few hours later, at approximately 11.25pm, a separate shooting incident was reported on Calabria Lane in Prairiewood, nearly 20 kilometres away. This time, a unit was struck by bullets while an 80-year-old woman was inside. She too was unharmed. However, police believe the unit was mistakenly targeted, with a white Ford Ranger spotted in the area around the time of the shooting. At this stage, authorities have found 'no evidence' linking the two cases. Anyone who may have information or surveillance footage related to either incident is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers immediately.
