A 32-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering five people.
Tevita Kapawale was found guilty last month of five counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of criminal intimidation.
In May 2021 Kapawale attacked the victims with an axe after a heated argument on a fishing boat in Fiji waters.
The two survivors of the attack jumped overboard.
Kapawale appeared in the Suva High Court before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere on Tuesday morning local time.

reported he will have to serve a minimum term of 26 years and two months before applying for parole.
Renters in Hawai'i who survived the deadly Lahaina fires two years ago are asking authorities not to forget them as the first of three housing programs is launched.
Maui County's Office of Recovery said the initiatives are meant to help survivors return home.
Lahaina fire survivor, Mario Acosta, said renters are set to miss out with the programme geared towards home owners.
One hundred and two lives were lost two years ago due to the Maui wildfires.
Australia's Defence Minister Richard Marles has been in Papua New Guinea as the countries finalise a new bilateral defence treaty.
The pact is expected to be signed around the time of the 50th anniversary of PNG's independence next month.

Fiji's most accomplished musician and the King of Island Music, George 'FIJI' Veikoso has been laid to rest at Lovonilase Cemetery in Suva.
Hundreds turned up at the Vodafone Arena to pay their final respects to FIJI.
His son, Shiloh Veikoso, said his father was an interesting man.
"He wore many hats - he was many things to many poeple," he said.
"Specifically to me he was sort of like Superman you know - he's here one day, next day he's across the world doing whatever he wants.
"But the one thing that he always told to his kids was 'no matter what, I am always there'."
Local media report renowned musicians J Boog, Tenelle, Danny Kennedy, Finn Gruva, the Surviving Brother of Na Drua, Canaan Ene, and others attended the funeral service.

A federal judge in New York City has ruled that kava cannot be sold in restaurants or bar settings.
In a decision released on Friday, the court stated that kava mixed with water fits the legal definition of a food additive, rather than a drink.

Police have announced they are examining new evidence, and hope to use a forensic tool to solve the murder of six-year-old Alicia O'Reilly, who was killed in Auckland 45 years ago. A police statement on Saturday said O'Reilly was raped and was killed at her Canal Road home in the suburb of Avondale early on 16 August 1980. At this stage nobody has been convicted for her death. O'Reilly's case was reopened in 2020 and the investigation dubbed Operation Sturbridge. In a statement, Detective Inspector Scott Beard said on Saturday that a DNA sample had been obtained, which police hope could provide leads. Police are also working with a new technology, trailing an Investigative Genetic Genealogy tool, he said. "This is a slow process, and we are working carefully through this trial. "Modern scientific technology continues to advance, and we are working very closely with PHF Science to try and establish a DNA link to a potential offender." Family pay tribute to victim of fatal stabbing at Awakeri Hot Springs Holiday Park

Photo: Pūkāea A cousin of the woman fatally stabbed in the Bay of Plenty on Thursday says she was a loving mother, daughter, niece, cousin, aunty and friend. Emergency services were called to Awakeri Hot Springs Holiday Park around 4.30pm on Thursday after reports of a serious assault. Despite medical attention, an injured woman died at the scene and a 25-year-old woman was charged with murder. "You were a strong hardworking lady that done everything to provide the best for your babies. You stood staunch for your family would do anything to make sure we were all good. One of the loyalest family members i ever knew. Rest in eternal love now my cuzin your with your dad, sister and all our loved ones. Forever in our hearts," said the victim's cousin in a statement provided to RNZ. Police remain at the holiday park this morning, and the hot pools part of the facility is closed. Campers remain in the campsite. Executive producer of iwi news provider Pūkāea, Kereama Wright, said local kaumātua led a karakia at the holiday park this morning. He spoke to relations of the Māori landowners who said they were very upset by yesterday's events. "For a long time Awakeri hot pools has been a place for whānau to gather for celebrations, for whānau gatherings, for a little bit of reprieve, so to hear this sort of news happening at such a popular site within the region is sad and speaking to some of the people who are camping there, they are definitely shocked and quite disturbed by what happened," he said. Wright had interviewed campers this morning and said he understood both the victim and the accused had been staying at the campground recently. "We spoke to a couple of the campers who were present when the incident occurred yesterday and they were visibly shaken and still very upset at what they saw and what they experienced," he said. The 25-year-old accused appeared in Whakatane District Court this morning charged with murder and was remanded in custody to reappear in early September.
