Secrets of a Mountain Serpent, directed by Nidhi Saxena, has welcomed Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal as producers through their banner Pushing Buttons Studios. Nidhi Saxena's debut feature, Sad Letters of an Imaginary Woman, premiered at the 2024 Busan International Film Festival to great acclaim. The film, co-produced with (Camera D'or winner, Cannes
fame Vimukhti Jayasundara's) Forest Flower Film, is set to make its world premiere at this year's Venice Film Festival. Director Nidhi Saxena is the first Indian woman to win the
Biennale College Fund grant for Secrets of a Mountain Serpent.
Set in a remote Himalayan town during the 1990s, SOMS tells the intimate story of Barkha played by Trimala Adhikari, a schoolteacher whose husband is posted at the border. In a place where most men are gone and days echo with silence, Barkha finds herself drawn to Manik Guho, played by Adil Hussain, a mysterious outsider who disrupts the fragile balance of waiting, restraint, and myth.
Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, who launched Pushing Buttons Studios to champion authentic, emotionally driven storytelling, said in a joint statement: 'We were immediately drawn to Nidhi's lyrical vision. This is a story rooted in myth and yet is startlingly relevant today. At
PBS, we believe in backing storytellers who take creative risks and Nidhi has crafted something singular, poetic, and soulful."
Saxena, who also wrote the film, welcomed the new creative partnership, 'This film is about women chose to risk everything and follow their desires, shedding the
burden of moralities imposed upon them by the world. I was looking for kindred collaborators and this feels like a meeting of minds and hearts. It also feels like we no longer need to borrow men's voices to tell our stories. We have our own voice, which is strong, with femininity".
in post-production. It will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in August 2025.
Ali, meanwhile, is basking in the success of Anurag Basu's Metro… In Dino, where he plays a pivotal role.

Sanjay Dutt Reveals What He Did With Rs 72 Crore Property That Fan Left Him Before Dying

Last Updated: Sanjay Dutt returned a Rs 72 crore inheritance from fan Nisha Patil to her family. It's not every day that someone leaves you property worth Rs 72 crore. However, that's exactly what happened to Sanjay Dutt. The actor recently opened up about this unbelievable moment in his life and revealed that he chose to return the entire inheritance to the fan's family. In a conversation with Curly Tales, Dutt was asked whether it was true that a female fan had bequeathed him the property before passing away in 2018. Confirming the story, he said simply, 'I gave it back to her family." Back in 2018, a devoted fan of Sanjay Dutt, Nisha Patil, made headlines after she left her entire property, worth a massive Rs 72 crore, to the actor. The unexpected gesture left Dutt stunned. Nisha, a 62-year-old homemaker from Mumbai, was reportedly suffering from a terminal illness and had informed her bank to hand over all her assets to Dutt after her death. The actor, who made his debut in 1981 with Rocky, has enjoyed a successful, albeit controversial, career in Hindi cinema. Over the decades, Dutt starred in a range of popular films including Vidhaata, Naam, Saajan, Khal Nayak and Vaastav, cementing his place as one of Bollywood's most charismatic actors. However, his journey was interrupted by legal troubles. He was arrested under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) for possessing illegal weapons linked to the 1993 Bombay blasts. Though eventually acquitted under TADA, he was convicted under the Arms Act and sentenced to five years in prison. He completed his sentence in 2016 after several paroles and furloughs. Dutt made a major comeback with the 2003 blockbuster Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., a film that became a cultural phenomenon. His life story was later adapted into the 2018 film Sanju, directed by longtime collaborator Rajkumar Hirani, with Ranbir Kapoor portraying the actor. Sanju went on to become one of Indian cinema's biggest hits. Currently, Dutt is busy with multiple projects. In 2025 alone, he has five films lined up. The Bhootnii and Housefull 5 have already hit theatres, while Akhanda 2, Dhurandhar, and The RajaSaab are set to release later this year. He is also part of the Kannada film KD – The Devil, which is slated for release in 2026. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Salman Khan, SRK Fired Fake Guns Outside Rakesh Roshan's Room During Karan Arjun: 'Both Of Them…'

Last Updated: Ashok Saraf reveals Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Johny Lever had fun pranking on Karan Arjun sets with firecrackers and fake guns. Before Karan Arjun became a '90s Bollywood classic, the film's set was a playground for some seriously chaotic fun. Veteran actor Ashok Saraf has shared a glimpse of the off-screen madness involving Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Johny Lever — and it involved fake guns and firecrackers! During a chat with Radio Nasha Official, Saraf confirmed that SRK and Salman kept things lively behind the scenes. When asked if the duo really fired fake guns and burst crackers outside director Rakesh Roshan's room, he said, 'Yes, yes. I never used to go wherever this was happening. Kisi ko sataana ho toh main door hu. But yes, both of them used to have a lot of fun." He added that Johny Lever often joined in on the mischief, but Saraf himself stayed on the sidelines. 'Aur unke saath mein Johny Lever bhi mil jaata tha. Uske saath main bhi fir, masti nahi karta tha par hota tha." The story lines up with what Rakesh Roshan previously shared on the same platform. The director recalled being woken up at night by 'guns going off" and 'bottles flying" near his room. Even Shah Rukh admitted to the chaos in the docu-series The Roshans, saying, 'Pinkie ji scolded me a lot. 'You are troubling Guddu (Rakesh) a lot. I didn't expect it from you.' Because, between Salman and me, I was slightly better behaved; at least on the face of it. I was like, 'I didn't do anything. It's all his (Salman) doing.' We were two young kids, really troubling a father figure, to be honest." Karan Arjun, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Kajol, Rakhee Gulzar, and Amrish Puri, recently completed 30 years and was re-released in theatres to mark the milestone. Karan Arjun is a 1995 Bollywood action-drama that follows the story of two brothers, Karan and Arjun, who are brutally killed by their greedy uncle Durjan Singh for inheriting their father's wealth. Their mother, Durga, prays to the goddess Kali for justice, and years later, her sons are reborn as Ajay and Vijay in different families, unaware of their past lives. As fate brings them back together, memories of their previous lives begin to resurface, leading to a powerful reunion and a mission to avenge their deaths and fulfill their mother's vow.
