
BNY obtains regional headquarters license in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
RIYADH – The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation ('BNY') (NYSE: BK), a global financial services company, today announced it has been granted a regional headquarters ('RHQ') license by the Ministry of Investments in Saudi Arabia ('MISA').
The RHQ in Riyadh will provide strategic, administrative and corporate services for BNY in the Middle East. BNY's existing Asset Servicing solutions delivered for clients in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ('KSA') include Global Custody Services, Global Risk Solutions, Custody FX, and Institutional Accounting under a Capital Markets Authority license.
'The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is delivering on its Vision 2030, and we will continue to bring BNY's expertise across the financial lifecycle to help the KSA achieve its ambitions,' said Hani Kablawi, Head of International at BNY. Saudi Arabia's economy grows 3.4% in Q1 2025 as non-oil sector leads the way
Saudi Arabia's economy expanded by 3.4 per cent in the first quarter of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, according to new data released by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). The Kingdom's robust economic performance was driven primarily by a 4.9 per cent surge in non-oil activities, alongside a 3.2 per cent increase in government activities. Meanwhile, oil-related activities declined slightly by 0.5 per cent, underscoring the country's ongoing shift towards economic diversification under Vision 2030. Saudi GDP 2025 On a seasonally adjusted basis, real GDP increased by 1.1 per cent compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. GASTAT's report highlighted that non-oil activities were the largest contributors to real GDP growth on an annual basis, adding 2.8 percentage points to the total. Government activities contributed 0.5 percentage points, while net product taxes added a further 0.2 percentage points. Among individual sectors, wholesale and retail trade, restaurants, and hotels stood out with the highest annual growth rate of 8.4 per cent in Q1 2025, and a quarterly growth of 0.7 per cent, reflecting a rebound in consumer demand and tourism activity.

WPP CEO Mark Read to step down after 30 years with the company
The Board of NYSE-listed global advertising agency WPP has revealed the Chief Executive Officer Mark Read, will retire from the Board and as CEO on 31 December 2025 after more than 30 years with the company, which includes seven years as the CEO. Read has decided that the time is right for him to hand over to a new leader and the search for a successor is underway. Philip Jansen, Chair of WPP, said, 'On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Mark for his contributions not only as CEO but throughout his more than 30 years of leadership and service to the Company. During that time Mark has played a central role in transforming the Company into a world leader in modern marketing services, with deep AI, data and technology capabilities, global presence and unrivalled creative talent, setting WPP up well for longer-term success.'
