Tyler, the Creator marches through ‘Chromakopia' on Valentine's Day at the Crypto.com Arena
After performing most of his latest album, 'Chromakopia,' just two months ago at his annual Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, Tyler, the Creator could've easily copied and pasted his well-received set list for his album tour, which rolled into Crypto.com Arena for a six-night stand in L.A. that kicked off on Valentine's Day.
But the veteran rapper, who's earned his stamp as one of the most exciting live performers of this era, did anything but what would've been convenient on Friday night.
During the opening night of his hometown residency at the arena — which was illuminated in green lights to match the album's aesthetic — Tyler, the Creator bounced between two massive stages in the 20,000-capacity venue. His show cleverly took fans on a musical journey of his steady 15-year ascent, reminding them why he's 'That Guy' (his freestyle over Kendrick Lamar's 'Hey Now') without the aid of any special guests during his nearly two-hour performance. Paris Texas, the L.A.-based rap duo, and Lil Yatchy opened the show with high-energy sets.
As his mother's voice rang over the arena's sound system like a God from the heavens during the album's opening track, 'St. Chroma,' Tyler, the Creator (born Tyler Okonma) slowly appeared, marching to the militant-sounding beat on a stage filled with green storage boxes. With bright green lights shining on him, and fitted in a suit reminiscent of a bellhop's uniform, a mask with cutout holes for his eyes and mouth, and an Afro split into two mountain peaks, he looked like a menacing supervillain while he rapped his most vulnerable album yet, which explores themes of aging, fatherhood, masculinity, monogamy, fame and more.
When he reached the album's climax, 'Sticky' (featuring GloRilla, Sexyy Red and Lil Wayne), the 33-year-old rapper climbed onto an elevated catwalk and threw several $1 bills into the crowd below him, before slowing things down for the smooth 'Take Your Mask Off,' doing just that by the song's ending.
Continuing to walk down the elevated runway, he changed into a more casual look (a white T-shirt, green Golf le Fleur button-up, fitted 'Petalers' cap and loafers), then entered a second stage, a faux living room. It was outfitted with a couch, coffee table, piano and record player. Nearby was a vinyl box filled with Tyler, the Creator's own records, with which he marked a turning point of the show.
As he flipped through the records, he revealed hints on what album he'd perform from next, igniting a thunderous roar from the crowd each time. (At one point, the crowd began chanting 'Cherry Bomb,' to which Tyler, the Creator hilariously reminded them that this was his show and he'd do what he wanted to do.)
He then dove into snippets from his catalog including 'Igor' (with tracks like 'Earfquake' and 'I Think'), 'Goblin' ('Yonkers' and 'She'), 'Wolf' ('Tamale' and 'IFHY'), 'Call Me If You Get Lost' ('I Thought You Wanted to Dance' and 'Dogtooth'), 'Cherry Bomb' ('Deathcamp') and 'Flower Boy' ('Boredom' and 'See You Again').
Back at the 'Chromakopia' stage and still dressed in his casual fit, he performed the last four tracks on the album — as well as 'New Magic Wand' from 'Igor' — including a ferocious acapella of 'Thought I Was Dead,' similar but just as intense as during his Camp Flog Gnaw set. Newly minted Grammy winner and Top Dawg Entertainment darling Doechii appeared on a massive screen to rap her verse on 'Balloon,' then Tyler, the Creator ended the night with the gorgeously emotional 'I Hope You Find Your Way Home.'
At this point in his career, Tyler, the Creator is known for putting on an entertaining show, but this set in particular reaffirmed what L.A. fans have known since his Odd Future days, hanging out on Melrose Avenue: He's a fearless artist who is authentically himself, is constantly challenging himself creatively (no matter what others think), and will continue to push boundaries within the industry.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — June is the traditional month for weddings, but no matter when you've set the date, one thing is for sure: getting to the big day takes a lot of planning. And a lot of money. According to the average wedding costs $33,900. That's up from $28,000 pre-pandemic. If you're going to spend the money, you should get the most for it. Here are some affordable ways to keep your wedding costs manageable. The reception: Many couples are opting to have their ceremony on a weekday to keep wedding costs down. They're also staying away from romantic holidays like Valentine's Day, a time when vendors may increase prices. Wedding planners advise looking for a venue that offers package deals (venue, catering, etc.). And always try to negotiate a price. The decor: Do you really need that ice sculpture in the shape of a swan? If the answer is yes, by all means get one. But if you're on a tight budget, think about renting flowers or greenery. Framed pictures of the bride, groom and their family members are a nice touch too. The flowers: Consider renting flower arrangements and greenery for the church ceremony. Many churches have more than one wedding on the same day. You could contact the other brides and see if you can either keep their flowers for your wedding (and, of course, compensating them!) or you could offer your flowers (at a nice price) to the bride whose wedding is after yours. If that's not possible, think about using the flower arrangements from your ceremony at the reception too. (Be sure to ask someone to handle transporting them for you.) The guests: Again, do you really need your cousin's best friend's sister's babysitter at your wedding? Be judicious. Try this test: if you close your eyes to imagine your wedding and don't see the person's face you're trying to decide on, move them to a backup list. You can always add them back in if your budget allows. The menu: If you want a formal dinner, that's wonderful. If you can't afford it, there are many classy alternatives. Check out your favorite restaurant's catering menu. Many times their cost includes set up and clean up. (Of course, check with your venue first. Many have an existing list of caterers they will only work with.) And consider a buffet. Not only can it be more affordable, but it also ensures your guests will mingle and not just talk to the people at their table. The bar: Everyone wants to toast the bride and groom! But if a fully stocked bar and big cocktail selection aren't a priority for the happy couple, consider sticking to wine and beer only. For variety, you could offer one or two signature cocktails. The cake: Your wedding cake can be extravagant or it can be understated. Either way, your it can be a showpiece without breaking the bank. Many couples choose a smaller cake to cut for pictures and then serve sheet cake slices or cupcakes to the guests. One sure way to keep the cake cost down is to opt for buttercream frosting instead of fondant. It's your special day. You don't have to go broke to have the wedding of your dreams. There was a trip down memory lane hosted by T-Pain, who has been on an absolute tear of nostalgic shows as part of his Back to Wiscansin Tour. Somewhere in the distance Benson Boone was doing a flip, was blowing out speakers, and Tyla was enthralling supporters in her steamy 'popiano' sound. But we had all gathered there to see Tyler, The Creator bring his Chromakopia album to life, and when he finally stepped out in his green suit, the crowd could hardly contain themselves. While Tyler acknowledged the heat, his mid-tour exhaustion, and the fact he had only a little over an hour, he made sure to run through hits both new and old. As he did his best to satiate his moist and sweaty fans who had braved the elements to witness him live. Here are the best moments from Tyler's memorable Gov Ball set. Coming out the gates with the first three songs of Chromakopia, Tyler opened with an explosive performance of 'St. Chroma,' 'Rah Tah Tah' and 'Noid,' letting each track flow into the next as he rapped each bar with lyrical precision. The crowd was energized and fired up, and unsurprisingly rapped along to every syllable from Tyler's new album. Whenever Tyler has performed 'Sticky,' it's always been such a moment — and this time was no different. The crowd went bananas (quite literally, one kid was crowd surfing in a banana costume), screaming out GloRilla and Sexyy Red's verses as the bass rattled everyones ear drums. While IGOR's 'Earfquake' satisfied everyone there, it was 'New Magic Wand' that truly sent a shockwave through the crowd. The energy was magnetic as Tyler tore through the 2019 single. Tyler, The Creator barely did any leg work during his run through of 'Like Him,' as his fans carried the song from start to finish. As Tyler pirouetted his way across his signature Chromakopia shipping container, the fans cried out the song in what was a surprisingly moving moment of solace. 'Can you rap my sister's verse, New York?' Tyler called out as a video Doechii appeared on the screen behind him. As fans ripped through her 'Balloon' bars, Doechii's ravenous energy was felt all through the crowd. The Swamp Princess' magnetic energy was indescribable as it shot through the crowd, reminding me and everyone else that 'Balloon' is a sleeper hit. While he only indulged for a few bars, Tyler's 'Yonkers' still goes hard when it's played outside. The 13-year-old song shook the festival, as fans raged and rapped along to the Goblin classic. Tyler, the Creator's Flower Boy made only a few appearances during the set, but 'See You Again' was the perfect closer to a great night. The fans swooned as Ty did his thing, showcasing the timeless nature of that song. It was a great closer, and one that people were chattering about on their way out of the grounds. Governors Ball 2025 hit a snag on day two as weather concerns forced organizers to cancel and delay performances. On Saturday (June 7), the three-day festival — which launched Friday at New York City's Flushing Meadows Corona Park — announced that headliners and other scheduled sets would be pushed back due to forecasts of rain and thunder in the area.
