Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir, key coalition partners of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, will be declared "persona non grata," the government said in a statement, accusing them of inciting "extreme violence and serious violations of the human rights of Palestinians" with "their genocidal statements".

Hamas insists on UN-led Gaza aid delivery in ceasefire talks: Hebrew media
Hamas is demanding that humanitarian aid to Gaza be delivered under United Nations supervision, without the involvement of the US-linked 'Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,' and that the buffer zone be smaller than what 'Israel' has proposed, according to 'Israeli' media reports. Channel 12 quoted an unnamed 'Israeli' source familiar with the Doha negotiations as saying that Tuesday night's meeting between Qatari and Egyptian mediators and Hamas representatives ended without results. The source claimed mediators rejected Hamas's response, deeming it unsatisfactory, and asked the group to provide an improved reply by Wednesday. Hamas and the mediators have not issued public comments. According to the same source, Hamas also requested: UN-managed humanitarian aid entry with no role for the U.S.-affiliated foundation A reduced buffer zone size The release of more Palestinian detainees per 'Israeli' captive Clearer guarantees for ending the war And the return of displaced Gazans via the Rafah crossing Indirect negotiations between Hamas and 'Israel' have been ongoing in Doha since July 6, mediated by Qatar and Egypt with US support. On Saturday, a Palestinian source stated that Hamas had received new maps from the mediators showing 'Israeli' control zones in Gaza, which it is currently reviewing. On Monday, Hamas announced it was continuing consultations with Palestinian factions to reach an 'honorable agreement' that would halt the aggression, support reconstruction, lift the siege, and ensure a dignified life for Gazans. These talks follow more than 21 months of intermittent negotiations, during which two partial agreements were reached: one in November 2023, and another in January 2025. Netanyahu, under international arrest warrants, resumed the war on March 18 after halting the implementation of the latest agreement. Hamas has consistently stated its readiness to release all 'Israeli' captives in exchange for a total ceasefire and the full withdrawal of 'Israeli' forces from Gaza. The 'Israeli' opposition accuses Netanyahu of deliberately avoiding a comprehensive deal to prolong the war for political gain and to placate far-right members of his coalition.

As a result, Palestinians in the West Bank would be considered residents under Israeli law rather than citizens, with their legal status subject to revocation. Legal analysts warn that this move could allow Israel to strip Palestinians of their residency rights if they are deemed non-compliant with Israeli regulations. This opens the door to potential large-scale displacements, particularly to third countries with which Israel has signed agreements. Those who remain are likely to face restrictions on civil and political rights, further entrenching a system of legal and political inequality. Also Read Israel struck Hodeida port in Yemen The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Knesset's decision, describing it as a "dangerous step toward institutionalized apartheid" and "a direct violation of international law and Palestinian sovereignty." Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a key figure in the far-right coalition, welcomed the vote. He also renewed calls for a full military occupation of Gaza and advocated for what he termed a "humanitarian separation plan", a controversial proposal aimed at displacing Gaza's population and dismantling Hamas through overwhelming force or forced population transfer. © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (

'Israeli' strike kills journalist in Gaza with husband, five children
Gaza Media Office in Gaza announced Wednesday that the number of journalists killed since the start of the war has risen to 231, following the deaths of two more Palestinian journalists: Walaa al-Jaabari and Tamer al-Za'anin. Walaa al-Jaabari, a journalist and editor who had worked with several media outlets, was killed along with her husband and five of their children when their home was struck in an overnight 'Israeli' airstrike. Earlier this week, photojournalist Tamer al-Za'anin was shot and killed on Monday by an 'Israeli' force during the abduction of Dr. Marwan al-Hems, director of field hospitals in Gaza. In response to the killings, the media office strongly condemned what it described as the systematic targeting and killing of journalists by 'Israeli' forces. It called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and media organizations worldwide to denounce the ongoing crimes against journalists in Gaza. The office also held the Israeli Occupation and the United States government fully responsible for what it called 'brutal crimes.' It urged the international community and press freedom organizations to take immediate action to stop what it described as genocide, and to protect journalists and media workers in Gaza from assassination and targeted killings.
