The arrested were identified as M Sivakumar (27) of Chandrapura near Bangalore in Karnataka, M Kumaresan (29) of Hosur and S Nithya (32) of Karapalli near Hosur.
The online scammers had allegedly duped 96 people across the country of several crores in a stock market scam, where the arrested persons would receive a commission of 1.4% for a transaction of Rs 1 crore. During investigation, the police found that the scammers had swindled Rs 50 lakh from a man in Coimbatore.
Nithya, an assistant manager at a private bank, allegedly assisted the scammers in opening bank accounts for various individuals without their consent. Kumaresan, had received funds from scammers through his bank account. Sivakumar acted as a mediator between the scammers and several bank account holders.
Police said complainant Joju Mathew (51) from Ganapathi in Coimbatore was approached by individuals posing as executives from a leading finance firm offering trading services. Later, he transferred Rs 50 lakh through multiple transactions to the bank account details provided by the scammers, who became unreachable afterwards. Upon investigation, police traced the bank account used in the scam to Kumaresan, through which money was received and transferred. Additionally, Rs 90 lakh was found in his account, which hinted at his involvement in the scam, police said.
"Questioning Kumaresan led to the arrest of the other two suspects, who helped scammers open bank accounts without consent and by lending bank account credentials to scammers in exchange for commissions," police sources said.
Five mobile phones, nine simcards, 25 debit cards, 23 bank passbooks, 62 cheque books, three stamps, a bill book and a QR code scanner were seized from them.
"The three arrested persons had provided back end support to the scammers to facilitate the transfer of money. Investigation to trace the scammers is ongoing," said a police officer.

Senior Maoist leader gunned down in Jharkhand encounter
A joint team of Chaibasa Police and CoBRA 209 battalion gunned down a senior CPI (Maoist) leader during an encounter in the forests of Goilkera in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district Wednesday morning. Police said the militant has been identified as Arun alias Varun alias Nilesh Madkam, an area commander of the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit, hailing from Konta police station limits in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. An official also confirmed that he carried a bounty of Rs 2 lakh on his head. According to police, Maoist leaders including Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochu Anal, Aseem Mandal, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria, and Ashwin have been actively moving with their armed squads in the Kolhan-Saranda region, allegedly plotting attacks on security forces and engaging in anti-national activities. On August 12, intelligence inputs suggested that top Maoist leaders and various squad commanders, identified as Ravi Sardar, Jaikant, Arun, Sandeep, Shiva, Rishibh, Upton, Sanat, Amit Munda, and Bhuneshwar alias Saluka Kayam Somwari had gathered in Kolhan to execute a 'major incident' ahead of Independence Day. Acting on the input, a joint operation was launched by Chaibasa Police and CoBRA 209 battalion. Around 6 am on Wednesday, the forces came under fire in the hilly and forested areas near Dugunia, Posaeta, and Tumbagada under Goilkera police station limits, officials said. The security personnel retaliated, forcing the Maoist squad to retreat into the dense jungle. During the subsequent search, the body of a male Maoist was recovered along with an SLR rifle, cartridges, and other daily-use items, officials said. According to the police, Arun had a long criminal history, including involvement in multiple murders, kidnappings, attacks on security forces, extortion, and offences under the Arms Act, and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act across Goilkera, Sonua, and Tonto police station areas. The recovered weapon and materials have been seized, and further action is being taken in line with the National Human Rights Commission's SOPs, police said, adding that the anti-Maoist operation in the region is still ongoing.

UP Man Arrested For Running Rs 6-Crore Online Scam Via Social Media
New Delhi: The Delhi Police has apprehended a graduate from Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly running a Rs 6.03-crore online investment scam that duped victims via social media, officials said on Wednesday. Accused Krishna Kumar (29) was tracked down and apprehended from Kulesara in Greater Noida, police said, adding that he allegedly lured people with promises of extraordinary returns in stock trading. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Aditya Gautam said the accused induced the victims to join a social media channel named "Plus500 Global CS", where fake profit screenshots, fabricated trading dashboards and scripted chats were used to create the illusion of legitimate profits. In one such case, the victim was persuaded to invest Rs 6.03 crore in multiple instalments into accounts linked to the syndicate. When the victim attempted to withdraw the funds, he was blocked from the group, the officer said. During the probe, police discovered that the fraudsters used fake numbers and virtual phone lines to hide their identities. The funds were routed through multiple bank accounts in a layered manner to avoid detection. A breakthrough came when police traced Rs 57 lakh to an account of "Priyanka Placement and Loan Services", which was found to be a front entity controlled by Kumar, the DCP said. The accused also operated two cyber cafes that facilitated fraudulent activities and masked financial transactions, he added. Kumar has been taken into police custody for sustained interrogation to identify other members of the syndicate, police said, adding that advanced digital forensics, device cloning and financial-trail mapping are underway to dismantle the wider network and recover assets.
