Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a high-level review meeting with Kumaon division-level officials in Nainital on Friday.
According to an official release, public representatives and senior administrative officers of six districts of Kumaon division-Nainital, Almora, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar-were present in this meeting.
The Chief Minister discussed the schemes being run by the Central Government and the State Government in the division. He said that there is a need for public representatives and officers to coordinate with each other and work on the ground by organizing public darbars and chaupals to solve the problems of the people. "So that even the person standing at the last end benefits from the schemes of the government"
He said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, "contribute to the work going on in the district.
Our resolution is to end corruption and for this the number 1064 has been started." The Chief Minister asked the district officials to "make a schedule to sit in their office from 10 to 1:00 so that people coming from far away can meet them and put forward their point."
The Chief Minister directed to complete all the construction works in a quality manner within the stipulated time frame. He said that strict action will be taken against the concerned officials if the work is not done as per the standards or there is unnecessary delay.
Reviewing the progress of the JamrDam Project in the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the rehabilitation package has been approved and the master planning has been completed. "The main dam construction work will be started before the monsoon. This project will play an important role in increasing the irrigation capacity for both the states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh"
The Chief Minister directed to further speed up the revival efforts of Sukha Tal.
He informed that this work is being done by the Drinking Water Department under the Namami Gange Scheme and the work of promotion and beautification of Sukha Tal Lake in Nainital district is in progress at a cost of Rs 2916.00 lakh.
Discussing the overall development of Kainchi Dham area, the Chief Minister asked to give priority to the development work of all the necessary facilities there. The Chief Minister said that the work of beautification and illumination is in progress at Shri Kainchi Dham under Manaskhand Mandir Mala at a cost of Rs 2815.68 lakh.
He informed about the progress on the master plan for Almora Medical College and said that the budget of Pithoragarh Medical College has been doubled. He said that ensuring the availability of all the state-of-the-art facilities in the border area is the top priority of the government.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reiterated that the Uttarakhand government will not tolerate corruption at any level. The Chief Minister directed to suspend Superintending Engineer Shivam Dwivedi in Kashipur on a complaint by the District Magistrate of Udham Singh Nagar under Jal Jeevan Mission.
He also directed the officials to conduct regular public hearings, adopt solution-based work style and immediately resolve the problems of the public at the local level through camps.
He also said that the vigilance system is being made more strong and active in the state. "Now the government will directly and decisively intervene in cases of corruption. If an officer of any level is found guilty, he will be given severe punishment.
However, he will also be given a fair hearing and an opportunity to explain."
The Chief Minister said that our priority is to make the "dreams of the people come true". Uttarakhand has already become a leader in the country in many areas and now we have to ensure that the state reaches the top position in other areas as well.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday said that all public beneficiary schemes introduced by his predecessor and former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan will continue. Chief Minister Yadav reiterated this while addressing a programme organised by the state government in Sehore district, in the presence of Union Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. "The opposition (Congress) always questions our intention. In the presence of ex-CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, let me make it clear that no scheme introduced during his tenure will be stopped. We together will make efforts to arrange adequate funds for all the schemes," CM Yadav said. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also indicated that his government is considering for increasing monthly installment of 'Ladli Behna Yojana', the much-talked about women-centric scheme which was introduced by Shivraj Chouhan ahead of the state Assembly elections in 2023. "Rakshabandhan festival is coming and let me take this opportunity to announce that Madhya Pradesh government is going to increase cash benefit to women under Ladli Behna Yojana up to Rs 3,000 against Rs 1,250 at present," Yadav said. Sehore district, which is located near the state capital Bhopal, is home district of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and it falls under Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency being represented by him. During the programme, Mohan Yadav and Shivraj Chouhan jointly laid the foundation of several projects worth more than Rs 130 crore. While addressing the programme, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reiterated complete support and cooperation to CM Yadav, saying he believes that his successor would do a better job than him for the growth of the state. "I am not the one who would say I have done this and that. I will be happier if Mohan Yadav do better than me for the people of Madhya Pradesh," Shivraj Singh Chouhan said while addressing a public rally in Sehore. Meanwhile, he also mentioned that his padyatra carried out in his hometown Budhni was presented in a 'wrong way'. He said that some mediapersons had made assessments on their own. "But, let me make it clear that the party's instructions are important. Mohan Yadav is Chief Minister, and I am Union Agriculture Minister," he said. Speaking further, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that being a public representative, he must come to visit the people of his constituency, and it should not be interpreted otherwise. "But some mediapersons tried to speculate that in another way which was totally wrong," the Union Minister said. He was referring to a two-day 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Padyatra' in the Vidisha constituency which was organised in May to highlight the welfare schemes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government. Along with many of his supporters, his family members including son and daughter-in-law had also participated on the second day of padyatra.

Chhattisgarh CM briefs PM Modi on water projects worth Rs 49K cr in Bastar
RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai held a detailed meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi regarding the implementation of the multipurpose Bodhghat Dam Project and the Indravati-Mahanadi Interlinking Project. CM Sai proposed that both initiatives be taken up as national projects, highlighting their strategic importance for the holistic development of the Bastar region. Chief Minister Sai said that Bastar, having been severely affected by Naxalite violence for decades, has lagged behind in irrigation infrastructure. To bridge this gap and boost regional development, the state government is prioritizing these two key projects. During the meeting, CM Sai emphasized the strategic importance of these projects for Bastar, which has long suffered from Naxalite violence and underdevelopment. He informed the Prime Minister that of the total 8.15 lakh hectares of cultivable land in Bastar, irrigation facilities currently cover only 1.36 lakh hectares, highlighting the urgent need for expansion. According to CM Sai, the Bodhghat Multipurpose Dam Project, proposed on the Indravati River — a major tributary of the Godavari — will be transformative for Bastar. Although the project was mentioned as far back as the 1980 award by the Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal, it had remained unimplemented due to its remote location and security challenges. While other states have executed similar projects mentioned in the same award, Bodhghat remained unrealized — until now. Doubling the Pace of Development in Bastar Officials told TOI that Bodhghat project is expected to significantly expand irrigation facilities and catalyze Bastar's overall development. It will facilitate irrigation across 3.78 lakh hectares in the Kharif and Rabi seasons, generate 125 MW of hydroelectric power, ensure 49 million cubic meters of drinking water, and support an annual fish production of 4,824 metric tonnes — thereby creating multiple livelihood opportunities. The Indravati-Mahanadi Interlinking Project will enable irrigation across more than 3 lakh hectares of land, including 50,000 hectares in Kanker district alone. Combined, both projects are expected to bring irrigation to approximately 7 lakh hectares of farmland across the Bastar division — a game-changer for agriculture, water security, and employment in the region. The Bodhghat Dam is proposed on the Indravati River, which flows for 264 km within Chhattisgarh. The dam site is located about 8 km from Barsur village in Geedam block of Dantewada district and around 100 km from Jagdalpur city. Officials told TOI, the total estimated cost for both projects is Rs 49,000 crore — Rs 29,000 crore for Bodhghat Dam and Rs 20,000 crore for Indravati-Mahanadi link. The plan includes civil irrigation works and hydroelectric power infrastructure. The dam will have a usable water storage capacity of 2009 million cubic meters and a total capacity of 2727 million cubic meters, with a full reservoir area of 10,440 hectares. Bodhghat Dam Project will directly benefit 269 villages in Dantewada, Bijapur, and Sukma districts. Meanwhile, the Indravati-Mahanadi project will expand irrigation facilities to several villages in Kanker district. Together, these projects aim to build a stronger, self-reliant, and prosperous Bastar. Prime Minister Modi gave the proposals a serious hearing and assured consideration.

Raghubar slams govt for non-implementation of PESA Act
Dumka: Former chief minister Raghubar Das on Saturday criticised the state govt for being indifferent towards the implementation of the Panchayats (Extension to the Scheduled Areas) (PESA) Act, 1996, in the state. Das said, "The tribal society has been deprived of the benefits of the Union govt funds due to the non-implementation of the PESA Act though the community comprises the major support base of JMM, which is the ruling party in the state govt coalition. Jharkhand lost the Rs 1,400crore allotted by the central finance commission in the 2024-25 financial year as the state govt failed to introduce the PESA Act during its subsequent terms. The situation persisted even after JMM promised the electorate to implement the PESA Act in its election manifesto." "The implementation of the PESA Act would ensure 'Abua Raj' in real term as it would provide the traditional self-rule system of the tribal society a legal status in the 13 districts, comprising 112 blocks, which fall under the scheduled areas.
