MLB ‘Beat the Streak' user loses 50-game run in most brutal fashion
Major League Baseball's 'Beat the Streak' game remains undefeated.
On Monday night, user 'lotank' had their 50-game streak come to an end in a gut-punching way, ending their shot at reaching 57 games straight and winning $5.6 million.
lotank picked A's rookie shortstop Jacob Wilson to get a hit as they looked to extend their streak to 51, which would have brought them to just six games from the prize money.

Wilson, who was hitting .367 heading into the contest, went 0-for-3 heading into what would eventually be his final at-bat in the bottom of the eighth inning.
On a 1-2 pitch with a runner on first and one out, Wilson blooped a ball into no-man's land in right-field and appeared to get his first knock of the night — and extending lotank's streak to 51.

Instead, the play turned into a fielder's choice after Max Schuemann, who was on first base and wasn't sure if any of the Astros fielders would get to the ball, was forced out at second.
An inning later, Nick Kurtz would hit a walk-off home run, giving the A's the win but ending lotank's incredible run.
lotank was just two picks away from breaking the longest streak in the game's history of 51, which was twice, once in 2017 and again in 2019.

Diamondbacks OF Carroll exits game at Toronto after being hit on left hand by pitch
TORONTO — Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll exited Wednesday's 8-1 loss at Toronto in the eighth inning after he was hit on his left hand by a pitch. Manager Torey Lovullo said X-rays did not reveal a fracture. Carroll stayed in to run the bases after being hit by a 91 mph sinker from rookie left-hander Justin Bruihl. But he was replaced before the bottom half of the eighth. Alek Thomas took Carroll's spot in the lineup, with Tim Tawa moving from center field to right. Lovullo said Carroll was hit on the fleshy part of the hand below his pinkie, resulting in a contusion. 'It's a very dangerous spot when you're talking about that bone on the pinkie side,' Lovullo said. 'It got a lot of meat, so we're grateful for that.' Carroll's status for Thursday's series finale was unclear. 'I wouldn't be surprised if he tells me he wants to play tomorrow,' Lovullo said. 'We're going to keep an open mind, we're going to continue to evaluate him tonight through the night and into the morning and see how he feels.' Carroll tripled and scored Arizona's only run. The 2023 NL Rookie of the Year is batting .255 with 20 homers and 44 RBIs. Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno was unavailable for a second consecutive game because of a sore right hand.
