Magnus Johannsson, who became the first city athlete to reach the finals of the 200m at the World Under-20 Athletics Championships last summer, ran the anchor leg as the team produced a personal best in South Korea.
The Hong Kong team – Johannsson, Chan Yat-lok, Lee Hong-kit and Kwok Chun-tingc – posted a time of 39.10 seconds on Saturday, finishing behind South Korea, who took gold in a competition record 38.49, and Thailand, who claimed silver in 38.78.
A day earlier, Johannsson clocked a time of 21.70 in finishing last in the 200m semi-finals. Compatriot Yip King-wai finished seventh in the final in a time of 21.16.
Still, the individual setback fuelled Johannsson, who was making his debut at the senior regional tournament.

'I'm glad I was able to anchor the relay team into a good result,' the 18-year-old said. 'The training we have done over the past six months has paid off and I'm proud of all our athletes.'

World Aquatics Championships: Qin Haiyang bags 200m breaststroke gold in ‘Lane 8 miracle'

China's Qin Haiyang returned to winning ways on Friday night as he stormed home to victory in the 200m breaststroke from Lane 8 at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. Advertisement Qin clocked a time of 2 minutes 7.41 seconds, some two seconds off the world record time he set in Fukuoka in 2023, but it was enough to win his second gold medal at the championships. 'Have you heard of the Lane 8 miracle? You saw it tonight,' said Qin of his victory. He was the only finalist to qualify with a time slower than 2:09.00. Qin made history in the 2023 edition of the championships by sweeping the men's 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke titles. And after a disappointing 2024 season and Olympic showing, there were signs early on in the week that Qin was on track to redemption, bagging the gold medal in the 100m breaststroke on Monday and the bronze in the 50m breaststroke on Wednesday. Ji Xinjie, Pan Zhanle, Wang Shun and Zhang Zhanshuo finished second in the 4x200m final. Photo: Reuters On Friday night, Qin was fifth after the first 50m but climbed the ranks to lead by the final lap as the cheers from the Chinese supporters grew deafening. Their ovation reached a crescendo as Qin touched the wall ahead of Japan's Ippei Watanabe (2:07.70) and Caspar Corbeau from the Netherlands (2:07.73).

Hong Kong artists' wow moment as Son Heung-min and Spurs stars wear their design

A group of Hong Kong artists said they experienced a genuine 'wow' moment when they saw their shirt number design on the backs of Son Heung-min and his Tottenham Hotspur teammates. Advertisement ParentsParents, a Kowloon-based street art collective, were commissioned by the club to create a Hong Kong-themed design for their historic Kai Tak Stadium North London derby on Thursday. 'When I saw the Instagram post of the jersey before the match, I just thought, 'wow',' Wong Tin-yau, one of the artists, said. 'I could not imagine how it would feel seeing it on the players. When I saw them coming on the pitch wearing our design, I felt grateful; it was a special moment. 'People from the club said the players loved the jersey, which was really good news for us.' The company, which was launched in 2012, was approached by Royalclub Creative Agency in Shanghai on behalf of Spurs only around two months ago. The number nine Spurs shirt designed by ParentsParents.
