Researcher Ewan Cowan said: 'It's way easier to just shift the blame on the Germans, rather than say we weren't feeding it enough, or we weren't regulating its temperature correctly.' Australia, fearing the Japanese were moving ever closer, sent the platypus to curry favour with wartime PM Churchill in 1943. It was plucked from a Melbourne river, nicknamed Winston and shipped off on a 45-day voyage, pampered with 50,000 worms, duck-egg custard and even its own full-time minder. But after crossing the Panama Canal into the Atlantic, it was found dead in its purpose-built pen. The mission was hushed up while Winston was stuffed and shelved in Churchill's office. The figure emerged as experts warn of a rise in misogyny due to a lack of positive role models for boys. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 More than a million primary pupils go to schools with no male teacher Data showed that out of England's 16,743 primaries, there were 3,392 with all-women teaching staff last November — with another 746 having men on the books only part-time. It means 4,138 schools have no full-time male teacher, up from 3,865 in 2020. A typical primary has about 300 pupils, so 1.2 million kids are at schools with only women teachers. Overall, just one in seven of England's 350,000 primary school teachers is male. The Department for Education statistics show the largest school with no men is West Thornton Primary in Croydon, South London, with 910 pupils. Experts have warned of a lack of role models to combat misogynists like Andrew Tate. Christopher McGovern, of the Campaign for Real Education, said masculinity has become a dirty word in the 'feminised' teaching profession. He said: 'No wonder the classroom is shunned by most young men. 'But it's going to undermine the well-being and stability of this country.' After practicing her green fingers, one woman was left baffled by the reaction of those who live around her. The poster explained the extensive work she carried out in beautifying her front garden, focusing on wild flowers. "I've been trying to make a native yard. I have several sage and monkey flowers, yarrow, coyote bush, etc. I also spread baby blue eyes and clarkia seeds," she wrote. While the woman admitted she had been battling numerous weeds, she was proud with the transformation. "I watched some die, I replanted at a better time of year, I spread seeds", she continued. "Many neighbors are encouraging to my face when they see me out there." However, she received word from one of her neightbours that people in the area were concerned about the appearance of her garden. 'I was quoted £10,000 for a garden renovation but did it MYSELF for £1,000 using ChatGPT to show my kids what single mums can do' In fact, some residents had even reached out to him to ask about the Reddit user's well-being. "One neighbour who is kind of like the 'neighbourhood watchdog' just told me that people text him all the time asking if I have died or if I'm a renter and letting weeds take over," she said. She explained that she didn't know why this assumption bothered her so much. "I live in an old neighborhood and the crowd is of an older generation that prefers lawns, but like all this effort and people assume [I'm] a renter trashing the place or that I've died... really?" she said. The Reddit user concluded that the lack of appreciation for her flourishing garden "just hurts". "You're doing a very cool thing - don't let haters give you doubt," one Reddit user wrote. "Put a sign in the front yard - 'pardon the weeds - native garden in progress!' It's worked for my son and DIL," suggested another person. "No matter what you do...
