Saturday, May 10th Forecast: Sunny and 70 stays for Mother's Day. Rain on the way

Yahoo10-05-2025

It sure will be hard to complain about the weather today. I say it all the time, my ideal forecast is sunny and 70. That's what we were blessed with for Friday. It's what we will be blessed with for this Mother's Day weekend.
Going to be a sunny Saturday with just a handful of high clouds thrown into the mix. Temperatures for everyone should easily climb into the low 70s with warmer temperatures to the south.
Mother's Day has the potential to be warmer as highs will flirt closer to the 80s, but we will manage to come up short. Additionally, there will be noticeably more clouds in the sky for Sunday, but rain will hold off here in Springfield.
There's a slight chance of rain occurring in Northern Arkansas and South Central Missouri Sunday evening. Totals will be rather light and mostly hit or miss. I wouldn't let it ruin any Mother's Day plans you have put into place.
Rainfall chances should pick up on Monday thanks to a low-pressure system sliding to our south. Scattered showers will take place. You may hear a rumble of thunder, but severe weather holds off until it returns to end the week.

After Monday's rain, a summer feel pumps into the Ozarks. In the middle of next week, we will be fighting through both heat and humidity as I am expecting us to experience the warmest temperatures we have felt so far in 2025.

Thursday, June 12 forecast: Flooding risk Friday, summer weather returns this weekend

The ducks and frogs are happy again, but you may not be. Clouds and showers made for a damp day, although we really haven't seen much rain so far. This may change by Friday. Download our KOLR 10 weather app A storm swirling out of Oklahoma will track across the Ozarks through Friday. As the system moves through, it will likely bring a more concentrated area of rain to the region tonight into Friday. The atmosphere is primed to produce rainfall, and the incoming system could lead to slow-moving pockets of heavier rainfall later tonight into Friday. The result will be locally heavy rainfall totals and even a low risk for flash flooding. A wet commute to work can be expected across much of the Ozarks Friday morning, with the rain becoming more scattered as it begins to pull east later in the day. Lightning and heavy rain will be the main weather concerns, with temperatures remaining unusually mild. Clouds will thin out from the west Friday night, opening the door to areas of fog by Saturday morning. Low clouds and fog won't persist too long, though, with sunnier weather developing by afternoon. Most areas look dry Saturday with temperatures climbing into the 80s. Rain chances will probably perk back up to the west and across Western Missouri and Northwest Arkansas heading into Sunday. Most areas to the east will remain dry again throughout the day Sunday, with temperatures climbing back into the 80s. We're definitely in a transition to summer conditions, and we'll find that into next week. The days will remain warm and humid. There will likely be a low chance for showers and thunderstorms each day, mainly in the afternoon and evening, but no day will be a washout. Afternoon highs will tend to be in the mid to upper 80s, trending higher by week's end as a summer ridge spreads out through the middle of the country. This will set the stage for our first 90° highs to show up over the next couple of weeks. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Flash Flood Warning in Charlotte as storms expected through the weekend

(PINPOINT WEATHER – Good afternoon and happy Friday eve! After sunshine this morning, we are seeing a few showers and storms starting to pop up across portions of the Carolinas and will continue through the evening hours. More of the same is on the way, not just for Friday but through the holiday weekend, as the region is locked into an unsettled pattern that continues into next week. Along with the elevated rain chances the humidity will stay on the high side as the summer pattern locks in across the region. As for tonight and your Thursday, scattered showers and storms are expected to continue off and on throughout the evening hours with locally heavy possible. High humidity will keep overnight lows on the warm side with lows struggling just to drop below the 70-degree mark. Friday will be more of the same with highs in the mid to upper-80s along with more humidity. Showers and storms are expected to flare up during the afternoon and continue into the early evening hours. Father's Day weekend will bring more of the same across the Carolinas with highs in the mid to upper 80s for both Saturday and Sunday. Along with the warm and humid weather, scattered showers and storms are expected to flare up during the afternoon and evening hours each day with locally heavy rain possible. Heading into next week, more of the same is on the way for the Carolinas with a strong ridge keeping our temperatures in the upper 80s with elevated humidity. Afternoon showers and storms are expected each day next week through at least Wednesday. I hope you like the sound of thunder in the distance because you likely experience a decent amount of that over the next week! Have a great night! Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. A tribute to rebuilding St. Louis in verse

ST. LOUIS — Ravaged by a ruthless tornado, we're now faced with the challenge of rebuilding the gateway city—not just homes and businesses but the spirit of St. Louis, too. Over the last month, the resilience we have seen has been astounding. Mike Colombo shows us the signs of hope amid so much heartache. You can really see the darkness in the sky as that storm intensifies along the Missouri river.' On a mid-May Friday, skies turned dark. A deadly storm headed for Forest Park. Nature's nastiness on full display, devouring roofs along the way. Wicked winds tortured trees and hurled debris. The view from above when the violent storm passed confirmed our fears and made us gasp. Mangled metal littered trees and poles. Toppled homes left blocks with holes. Lives and homes splintered, a powerless position, but St. Louisans understand the mission. That need has prompted the response we've seen from those who've heeded the call to clean. From cooking and clothing to cash donations—there are glimmers of hope in this devastation. While the progress is positive, make no mistake, what many lost here can't be replaced. Not just homes, but history, the stuff money can't buy. Gone in an instant without a goodbye. Yes, life goes on, a new day will dawn. Out of sight, out of mind; it's how some move on. For those who can't, our town must commit to rebuilding St. Louis brick by brick. Poem by Mike Colombo Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
