Mauricio Pochettino rules himself out of contention for Tottenham job
Spurs are seeking a new head coach having sacked Postecoglou just 16 days after leading the club to Europa League glory, their first trophy in 17 years.
United States boss Pochettino ended a five-year stay at Tottenham in November 2019, having helped Spurs reach the final of the Champions League that year.
The Argentinian signed a two-year contract to become US head coach last September and is expected to lead the team into next year's home World Cup.
Speaking after his side's 2-1 friendly defeat to Turkey in Connecticut, Pochettino told reporters: 'After I left in 2019, every time that I was free, and the place of the position of the manager or head coach in Tottenham Hotspur, my name is appearing on the list.
'If you have seen the rumours, I think there are 100 coaches in the list. I think, don't be worried about that.
'If something happened, for sure you will see, but we cannot talk about this type of thing, because I think today, it's not real. It's not realistic.
'Look at where I am, where we are. And the thing is, the answer is so clear, no? But we're talking about it because it's my club, like Newells or Espanyol.'
Brentford boss Thomas Frank is reported to be the leading contender to replace Postecoglou, with Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner, Fulham manager Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth also linked with the post.

Adam Idah must crack Celtic contrast for Ireland as country striker battle could shift to Parkhead
The Hoops hitman still has some doubters to win over despite rattling 20 goals on the way to the domestic double last season Adam Idah gets a fair bit of flak for a guy who scores every 100 or so minutes on the pitch for Celtic. The big striker notched 20 goals last season for the Hoops and to add to the nine he bagged during his six months loan stint the previous campaign – which included three in the Champions League, a couple against Rangers at Ibrox and the winner in the Old Firm Scottish Cup Final in 2024. Yet there are still some doubters to be won over on the back of his big money move from Norwich City last summer. And Idah's international boss Heimer Hallgrimsson can see signs of progress already. The frontman was handed a start for Republic of Ireland in their 1-1 draw with Senegal on Friday night and Icelandic gaffer spotted some encouraging signs. Hallgrimsson knows Idah's role with the Irish side is completely at odds with the task the striker faces with Celts. In Scotland, it's often up against 10 men parked behind the ball and space is tighter than a Weight Watchers meeting in a phone box. The boot is often on the other foot with Ireland but Hallgrimsson has been impressed with the versatility shown by the Cork lad. Idah is added more and more to his game with club and country and he's convinced the big man will shine for both. Hallgrimsson said: 'He produced a solid performance. His workrate was, I thought, better than often before. Again, it's healthy competition up front. 'Adam took the job seriously. Workrate has not been an issue but in his club it's just so different a role and it's difficult to switch. 'We need a lot of defending from our strikers and he's just not used to it at Celtic – where they have their possession at say 60 or 70 or 80 percent in games. 'The space he needs to work on in games is small. It's a switch and hopefully players are learning more and more. He is growing. He knows what we expect, so that's a positive sign.' Idah is battling it out with AZ Alkmaar's Troy Parrot and Brighton's Evan Ferguson to be the main man up top for Ireland and he's likely to be given another crack in the clash against Luxembourg on Tuesday. And there's still a chance Idah and Ferguson could be club rivals as well. Celtic were in the hunt to land the Seagulls ace on loan in January before West Ham stepped in. The 20-year-old's domestic career has stalled over the last season after bursting on to the scene the previous campaign when he rattled 16 goals. It's been a tougher 12 months and the spell at West Ham didn't go to plan, with just eight goalless appearances, mainly from the bench. Ferguson was on trial at Parkhead as a teenager when he was with Bohemians and has admitted to being a boyhood Hoops fans. Rodgers is in the marker for a striker to compete with Idah next term – and could be keeping a close eye on Ireland this week. Ferguson's international gaffer is hoping to give the frontman a spark that he can take back into the club game for pre-season. Hallgrimsson said: 'Evan has been really good and we were even thinking of starting him against Senegal. 'He's been sharp in training and I think you saw when he came on he was sharp. We've been really happy with him in the sessions. Whether he was ready for 90 minutes, we were not sure. 'When you do friendlies and give players a chance you will get answers. Not all of them will be positive answers but you need to have answers. 'The new players have rocked the boat a bit, so the players watching will think 'oh, this one is coming'.' Hallgrimsson also has Hoops defender Liam Scales on board. The centre back came off the bench against Senegal and is in line for a start in Luxembourg after another solid season for Celts, where he eventually saw off the challenge of Auston Trusty to nail down a starting berth for the run in. Hallgrimsson said: 'We need to have more than one option because if you are injured in September you might miss out for the whole series of six qualifiers. We must be prepared for that as well.'

The former Arsenal and Juventus star is desperate to lead Wales into battle at next year's World Cup and a move to Mexico would be the perfect way to acclimatise to the demands of next summer's tournament Aaron Ramsey has agreed a deal to sign for Pumas UNAM in Mexico - taking himself out of the race to be the next Cardiff City manager. He would become the first high-profile British player to play in the Mexican league should the formalities of the move be completed. Ramsey was appointed Cardiff interim manager for the final three games of the Championship season after the club sacked Omer Riza. But the 34-year-old was unable to prevent Cardiff from being relegated to the third tier. He had been eager to discuss the opportunity of taking the role on and combining it with playing duties and, at one point, had been heavy favourite with bookmakers. But the ex-Arsenal and Juventus star had also made it clear that he wants to continue his playing career and lead Wales at the World Cup next summer. 'There's a lot to play for and that World Cup is a massive carrot being dangled,' Ramsey said in April. According to the Press Association, Ramsey has agreed a deal to sign for Pumas - also known a Club Universidad Nacional. They finished sixth in the 2024-25 Mexican standings and qualified for the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Ramsey returned to his boyhood club Cardiff in 2023, but injuries have restricted his game time and he is currently recovering from hamstring surgery. Cardiff are continuing their quest to find a permanent replacement for Riza, having seen top target Nathan Jones agree a new long-term contract with Championship new boys Charlton Athletic. Des Buckingham, Brian Barry-Murphy and Ian Evatt have all been previously considered.

Philippe Clement pinpoints Rangers breaking point as flop boss admits board 'listened to fans too much'
Philippe Clement has pinpointed the moment he felt his Rangers breaking point had arrived. The Belgian boss was given the boot at Ibrox last season with rivals Celtic running away at the top of the Premiership and no chance of silverware after a Premier Sports Cup Final defeat and a major Scottish Cup upset at Ibrox from Queen's Park. Despite winning plaudits for his results and performances in the Europa League, his side couldn't replicate it week to week in the domestic bread and butter and ultimately it proved costly to the 51-year-old after he was axed. It is all change at Ibrox now with 49ers Enterprises completing their takeover at the club and Russell Martin now in as manager. But former boss Clement believes THAT Hampden defeat to Brendan Rodgers was the 'vital game' as he admitted the board 'maybe listened too much to some fans' as he looked back on his time in Govan. He told BBC Sport Scotland: "I had a feeling, a bad feeling, after the League Cup final. I think it was a vital game. "If we had won, there would have been more patience with the fans also and the board could have stayed much calmer. "It's a pity that the story stopped, that the board didn't have the patience, or maybe listened too much to some fans. "There are other clubs where there is a difficult moment and everybody sticks together because everybody knows the story, how the work is done inside the building, and they continue and they are successful afterwards. "In three or four windows, we could have closed the gap [to Celtic] with a good development of players, but the decision is made and you need to accept it." It is set to be a busy summer at Rangers with a host of names already linked with joining the new Martin revolution. But Clement reckons FIVE players at the club now have real sell on value and teams would pay good money for their services. Nico Raskin and Mohamed Diomande have both been linked with summer exits - the latter with Everton. But there are also others who the Belgian reckons could net a tidy windfall. He continued: "Nicolas Raskin made a really good evolution. A lot of clubs are interested in him. "But you also have Jefte, Hamza Igamane, Clinton Nsiala, who will have a better value. Mohamed Diomande is also one of those guys. "The club has worked well the past year in that way. "There are now four or five players with the value to sell and several teams would pay good amounts of money.
