Estimated read time: 1'
Sevilla FC will play an international friendly match against Casablanca's Wydad Athletic Club, the Spanish club announced in a press release sent Friday to Yabiladi. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27 at 8:00 PM at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
This end-of-season fixture will see Sevilla's first team «test their strength» against one of the most decorated clubs in Morocco and Africa, the statement reads, referring to Wydad's CAF Champions League title in 2022 and its qualification for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Beyond the sporting challenge, the match will also serve to strengthen ties with Morocco, a country where Sevilla FC's fan base has grown significantly in recent years and which now plays a strategic role in the club's ongoing internationalization efforts, the club concluded.

Hakimi Reborn: From Full-Back to Final Hero
Achraf Hakimi has enjoyed the season of his life at Paris Saint-Germain, playing a key role in the club's first-ever Champions League title under Luis Enrique. The Moroccan full-back had looked uncertain when the Spanish manager took over in 2023. His form was patchy, and there were doubts about his fit in a four-man backline. But Enrique had other ideas. Rather than limit him to defensive duties, the former Spain boss gave Hakimi license to roam. He was used as a winger, a wide midfielder, and was even tucked inside at times. Hakimi ended the 2024–25 campaign with 23 goal contributions, nine goals and 14 assists. No other defender in Europe could match that. In the Champions League, he was crucial. He found the net in the quarter-final against Aston Villa, scored again in the semi-final against Arsenal, and broke the deadlock in the final against Inter Milan. The opener was a slick team move, finished with a precise tape-in. 'Luis Enrique has helped me reach a level I've never experienced,' Hakimi said before the semi-final. His teammates clearly agreed, naming him vice-captain behind Marquinhos at the start of the season. PSG moved quickly to tie him down, offering a new deal until 2029, one that puts him among the club's top earners. Against his former club Inter, Hakimi showed maturity. He didn't celebrate his goal, but gave Federico Dimarco a torrid time until the Inter defender was hauled off. With his pace, sharp decision-making and superb reading of space, Hakimi has become much more than a full-back. He's a leader, a threat, and a key cog in a PSG side that finally conquered Europe. Real Madrid's Youssef Lakhdim Pushing for Alavés Loan Move
Real Madrid defender Youssef Lakhdim is keen to leave the club this summer in search of more playing time and has agreed a loan move to Deportivo Alavés, according to Africa Foot . The 18-year-old Moroccan international, frustrated with his current situation at the club, has asked to be allowed to move on. His agent reportedly approached Madrid officials with a proposal for a season-long loan, aiming to give the left-back a chance to play regularly at the top level. Alavés have agreed to cover his full salary until the end of the upcoming season, making the deal financially straightforward for Real Madrid. Lakhdim has been part of La Fábrica, the club's academy, since 2017 after spells at Rayo Vallecano, Moratalaz, and Getafe. Born in Madrid to a Moroccan mother and a Spanish father, he is eligible for both national teams but currently represents Morocco. The left-back has yet to make his senior debut but was included in Real Madrid's first-team squad several times this season. Most of his minutes came with the U19 side, where he impressed in domestic competition and the UEFA Youth League. Sources close to the player say Lakhdim has looked to Achraf Hakimi's career path as inspiration. Like Hakimi, who left Real Madrid at 18 to gain first-team experience at Borussia Dortmund, Lakhdim hopes a move away will help him develop both technically and physically. 'He understands now that following Hakimi's example is the way forward,' the source told Africa Foot . 'His route is blocked by more senior players, and he needs to play.' The move to Alavés is expected to be finalised soon, which could be the first step in breaking into senior football. Tags: Deportivo AlavesReal MadridYoussef Lakhdim

Wydad Interested in Hakim Ziyech Ahead of Club World Cup
Wydad Casablanca are exploring a move for Hakim Ziyech following his exit from Al Duhail, according to Africa Foot. The Moroccan international is currently a free agent and could be in line for a surprise switch to Botola Pro. Ziyech, 32, parted ways with the Qatari club just five months after joining. His time in Doha was underwhelming, with only one goal and one assist in 13 appearances. Al Duhail confirmed his departure in a brief statement on Saturday. Wydad, who will represent Morocco at the expanded FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, are reportedly considering a short-term deal to strengthen their squad. Club president Hicham Aït Menna is said to have opened discussions through intermediaries to gauge Ziyech's interest. Despite representing Morocco at the international level, Ziyech has never played professionally in the country. Born and raised in the Netherlands, his entire career has taken place abroad, with spells at Heerenveen, Twente, Ajax, Chelsea, Galatasaray, and most recently, Al Duhail. The winger's career has stalled in recent years. After a promising start at Ajax and a high-profile move to Chelsea, things began to unravel. Injuries, tactical changes and lack of game time limited his impact in London. Short spells in Turkey and Qatar followed, but neither sparked a real turnaround. Ziyech was left out of Morocco's squad in 2025 and is now believed to be looking for a new challenge that could revive his form and put him back in contention ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations to be held on home soil. Wydad see the move as a bold statement ahead of their Club World Cup campaign. Ziyech's experience at the top level, including Champions League and World Cup appearances, could offer valuable leadership and quality in attack. His market value has dipped to around €4.5 million, but on a free transfer, the deal could suit both parties. Tags: Club World CupHakim ZiyechWydad AC
