Prue Leith has revealed a touching anecdote about Paul Hollywood's "kind" side, as she discussed working alongside him on The Great British Bake Off.
In a recent interview, the South African restaurateur, best known for her role on the beloved Channel 4 cookery show, heaped praise on her co-star and claimed that he "knows more about baking" than her.

The 84-year-old also insisted that his on-screen persona may not be a true reflection of the Wallasey baker.

During the chat, she described how people view Bake Off as "sort of a warm refuge" akin to "getting under a duvet", before revealing what she deemed a "nice thing" about the show.

She told Candis magazine: "The nice thing about the show is that we are just ourselves, although Paul is probably a little bit sterner on telly than he is in real life because in reality, he can be caught comforting a weeping baker.

"He is a kind person - I absolutely adore Paul. He knows more about baking than I do, that's for sure. But I've learnt a lot from him, and we do get on really well."
Currently hosted by Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond, the show has graced our screens for around 15 years since its debut in 2010, and has become a much-loved TV staple throughout the country.
In the show, contestants go head-to-head and demonstrate their bakery skills across various challenges, including signature bakes and showstoppers, all judged by Paul and Prue.

Despite the show's success, Prue previously disclosed a certain drawback to Bake Off, one that leaves the food writer feeling "sad," regardless of whether it ultimately makes "good television."
Prue also revealed what she termed the "nice thing" about the show

In conversation with Luxury London, she said: "The competitive angle makes the Bake Offs very different from most food shows. You get so fond of the bakers and then you have to kick one off."

She said this element was "bittersweet" and left her with a "genuine sadness" when she had to say farewell to somebody who was "so delightful" and "tried so hard."
In other news, Paul recently revealed one thing he would rather avoid when it comes to baking a cake. Although many of us will remember tucking into uncooked cake batter when we were younger, Paul clearly isn't a fan.
In a post on his TikTok account, he shared a video alongside the caption: "Something I've never understood... eating the raw cake mixture! Do you like eating it?"

He added: "The idea of raw egg, lumps of flour and butter doesn't appeal." To emphasise his point, he went on to say that he would "rather bake" it, and echoed that he doesn't "get it".

Johnny Vegas vows to 'kickstart debate' as he shares emotional insight to life

The comedy star of Benidorm and Still Open All Hours shows a whole new side as he tackles major art challenge while getting to grips with an ADHD diagnosis Johnny Vegas will be seen getting to grips with his recent ADHD diagnosis in a new Channel 4 two-parter in which he returns to his first love of art. The comedian, actor and trained potter has signed up to produce a piece of public art for his hometown of St Helens in Merseyside, and the cameras have followed him as he takes on the biggest artistic challenge of his career. ‌ A show source said: 'What starts as a creative endeavour turns into a journey of self-discovery when Johnny receives a diagnosis of ADHD. Though the original artistic vision falters, the documentary uncovers a silver lining—an honest and heartfelt conversation about mental health and understanding yourself.' ‌ Johnny, 54, told the Mirror: 'I used to sit at a potter's wheel on stage. People thought it was a gimmick, but I actually started out as a dedicated wannabe ceramicist. Art was my educational saviour. "Over years of witnessing what felt like an ongoing decline in educational commitment to the very same arts, I felt it was time I threw my hat back into the ring. To kickstart a debate about culture in general, whilst giving something of a visual symbol of gratitude back to my honestly beloved town.' He revealed that he'd been diagnosed with ADHD in 2023, saying at the time that it "answers a lot of questions about behavioural issues in the past'. He added: "In some respects, you can go back and look at it with regret, but I've had a bit of a charmed life, so it's no regrets," he said. "I know now, and it helps you make changes, I suppose, as you want to get more responsible later in life. I don't see it as defining me.' Programme-maker Adeel Amini, of Rumpus Media, said that fans would love seeing Johnny returning to his roots. 'Johnny tackles art and creativity with his trademark wit and humour, as well as a great deal of honesty and emotion, showing us a brand new side to one of Britain's best-loved figures.' C4 specialist factual boss Shaminder Nahal says: 'This series brings to life the power of art for everyone – how it can soothe, help, energise and inspire. Beautifully filmed over several years, the series showcases Johnny's unique humour, heart and passion – uncovering the intricacies and demands of artistic process along the way. It's an enlightening, eye-opening and emotional journey.' It is thought that as many as one in 20 UK adults could have the condition, but many cases are unidentified. Other celebrities who have been diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood include presenters Ant McPartlin and Richard Bacon, comedian Rory Bremner and TV presenter Sue Perkins.

5 times Stirling and Stirlingshire have featured on property TV shows

A Bridge of Allan family recently appeared on Location, Location, Location. It's not the first time Stirlingshire has featured on a property television show; from Scotland's Home of the Year to Love It or List It, viewers love a peek inside other people's homes. From hunting for the perfect home to renovating run-down rooms – here are five times Stirling or Stirlingshire has featured on property TV shows. A mother and daughter enlisted the help of Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp on Location, Location, Location to find their dream home in Stirling. The Channel 4 show, featuring Lorraine Macleod and Emma Carman, aired in June 2025. The pair, who were living with Lorraine's parents, viewed four homes within their budget of £275,000. However, despite offering well above the asking price for a cottage in Torbrex, Lorraine and Emma lost out on the property. Luckily, they found their dream three-bedroom townhouse in Bridge of Allan for £255,000 after the show. Scotland's Home of the Year has featured several Stirlingshire homes since it first aired in 2019. This year, a steading conversion in Deanston was part of the BBC show. The Dairy, owned by Mhairi and Andrew Wilson since 2023, boasts impressive views over the Trossachs. In 2024, a mill conversion near Dunblane was part of the series. The 200-year-old building had been abandoned for 25 years before it was lovingly restored by Lee and Dawn Collins. Plus, a Georgian renovation in rural Killearn was crowned the winner in 2021. Judges loved The Moss' 'dreamy pink interior' which included a pink Aga cooker in the kitchen. TV presenter Kaye Adams appeared on a celebrity edition of Escape to the Country last year. The Loose Women presenter viewed four properties in Stirlingshire to find a three-bedroom home with open plan living, a garden and space to record her podcast. Kaye, who had a budget of £850,000, said her favourite house looked over Loch Ard. An episode of Homes Under the Hammer featured a Stirling flat last year. A Musical Sink saw host Martel Maxwell, from Dundee, follow Ross as he purchased a damp run-down property in the city centre. He bought the two to three-bedroom flat prior to auction for £135,000 and carried out a five-month renovation to restore it to its former glory. Ross invested £35,000 into the works and turned the property into a short-term let. A property expert valued it as worth £180,000 to £200,000 – a profit of up to £30,000. Kirstie and Phil's Love It or List It has also had a Stirlingshire episode. In series two, the hosts set out to help Karyn and Duncan in the Carron Valley. The couple had been arguing for two years over what to do about their three-bed rural semi. Phil took Karyn and Duncan to view properties in Fife, Strathyre and Sauchie, while Kirstie inspired a £40,000 upgrade. At the end of the 2016 episode, they decided to keep the property.

It is actor Daniel Day Lewis who was spotted with his wife Rebecca Miller at the Port of Andratx. The popular star was seen leaving a van by the port as he hopped into a speedboat with his wife. It is understood the couple were travelling via speedboat to join a yacht with legendary filmmaker, Steven Speilberg. The pair famously worked together on the 2012 historical drama movie, Lincoln. Daniel looked relaxed as he opted to cover up despite the Spanish sunshine. He wore a long beige coat with matching trousers and kept his eyes hidden behind a pair of dark shades. His wife Rebecca also appeared to keep things simple with a plain white t-shirt and a wide-brimmed hat. Daniel has famously kept a low-profile and retired from acting but was encouraged by his son to dip his toe back into the game last year. His son Roman convinced him to star in his directorial debut. Daniel Day-Lewis: The Triumphant Return The father and son duo wrote the screenplay together, with the film described as an "exploration of the relationships between fathers, sons and brothers, and the dynamics of familial bonds". Along with Daniel, the movie has an impressive cast which includes Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley and Safia Oakley-Green. The triple Oscar-winner's last film was the 2017 movie, Phantom Thread, based on the fashion world of 1950s London. Announcing his retirement at the time, Daniel's representative said in a statement: "Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. "He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. "This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject." 6 He famously retired from acting Credit: Splash 6 Daniel is an Oscar winner Credit: Getty
