'Nobody hates Man Utd more than Jadon Sancho' - Red Devils outcast labelled an 'annoying clown' after rejecting Roma transfer as fans question winger's motivation in drawn-out saga
Sancho turns down Roma move Still seeking United exit Spent last season on loan at Chelsea Follow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱 WHAT HAPPENED? Fans have called out Sancho on social media after the England winger reportedly rejected the chance to leave United and sign for Serie A side Roma. The Red Devils thought they were edging towards finalising an exit for one of their 'bomb squad' members after a club-to-club loan deal with a £20 million (€25m/$29m) option to buy was put in place, but the 25-year-old has turned down a prospective move to Italy. WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING Fans were quick to express their frustration and puzzlement with the decision. UTDTrey wrote on X: "Nobody in this world hates Manchester United more than Jadon Sancho." TheFergusonWay made things personal, adding: "It's getting ridiculous with Sancho at this point. Just accept a different proposal to another club and move on. You should be happy that a club as big as Roma want to sign you in the first place after stinking up the pitch for the last 4 seasons. Annoying clown." RedMarrow pointed out Sancho's refusal to make a fresh start: "Jadon Sancho must be the only freedom fighter who refused freedom despite being offered it multiple times." Dev Bajwa was no less damning in his verdict: "Jadon Sancho really is nothing more than a disrespectful man who wants to stay on his ridiculous wages and move as a free agent. The worst signing since Sir Alex (bar none) and he has nobody to blame for his career but his own deluded, selfish attitude." Finally, Njuguna hinted the former Borussia Dortmund star may still be holding out for something 'better': "Sancho actually thinks that bigger teams than Roma will come for him." THE BIGGER PICTURE Sancho had an ordinary 2024-25 season on loan at Chelsea, scoring just five goals in 41 appearances, though the winger did get his hands on some silverware in the form of the Conference League and Club World Cup. There seems to be no way back for him at United, with the breakdown in his relationship with former manager Erik ten Hag resulting in him having loan spells with Dortmund and Chelsea. WHAT NEXT FOR UNITED AND SANCHO? With the summer transfer window closing on September 1, United will hope to secure an exit for Sancho alongside fellow estranged squad members Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia. Marcus Rashford has already departed on loan to Barcelona.

'Expectations so low they're almost happy!' - Roy Keane takes aim at Man Utd mentality amid 'optimism' after opening day defeat to Arsenal
Man Utd beaten by Arsenal on Sunday Red Devils showed signs of improvement Keane wants more from former side Follow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱 WHAT HAPPENED? Keane wasn't impressed with United players and staff taking the positives from the defeat to Arsenal on Sunday. Riccardo Calafiori capitalised from Altay Bayindir's mistake to net the winner in the 13th minute, with the Red Devils unable to force an equaliser despite lively performances from new signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. Benjamin Sesko was also introduced as a second-half substitute but couldn't help his side force a late equaliser. THE BIGGER PICTURE The mental attitude of United's squad has been criticised in recent years, with the likes of Keane often saying their heads aren't in the right place. While there were undoubtedly some positives to take from Sunday's performance as Ruben Amorim looks to improve on last season's finish of 15th in the Premier League, Keane wasn't particularly impressed by some of the post-match conjecture. WHAT KEANE SAID Speaking on Sky Sports after United's defeat, Keane said: "Overall, I think the game was poor second-half, the expectations at United are so low that everyone's comfortable with a 1-0 defeat. "It does worry me (that), couple of the new signings, there's a bit of encouragement with that, they get you up the pitch, results will improve - it's always tough against Arsenal. "But it's another defeat, no goals. There's still that worry, I had it before the match, what we saw, but you never felt like United had two or three goals in them." DID YOU KNOW? Mbeumo and Cunha were arguably United's best players at Old Trafford, with the pair flanking false No.9 Mason Mount in attack. WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD? United are back in action on Saturday when they travel to face Fulham at Craven Cottage, where they'll hope to pick up their first points of the season.

Gary Neville claims United must change season-defining aspect
Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes his former side must do one thing to progress this season. Let down by avoidable error The Red Devils lost again at Old Trafford as they fell to a 0-1 defeat to Arsenal on the opening day. Nonetheless, most fans were happy with the performance as they carried significantly more attacking threat than the visitors. There were also strong debuts from Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo but a familiar problem let the team down. Altay Bayindir, given the nod ahead of Andre Onana, flapped at a corner and the ball ended up in the back of the net when it should have been easily dealt with. After the game, head coach Ruben Amorim staunchly defended his goalkeeper but many fans will have been left concerned that with only two weeks of the window left, the club has still not brought in a new keeper and may not do so. Gary Neville pinpoints issue His fellow pundit and former teammate Roy Keane had already criticised Bayindir's poor performance but Neville also pinpointed the Turk as a weak spot in the team. Speaking to Sky Sports Neville stated, 'there's a glaring issue that Man Utd cannot ignore and it is the fact they need to find a goalkeeper.' He elaborated, 'they have to. I'm unequivocal on that because I had an experience with Man Utd for 20 years where there were two big periods of seven or eight years with Peter Schmeichel and Edwin van der Sar.' He claimed that between these two legendary keepers, United kept switching between players and this in turn led to the defence making a lot of errors. Emiliano Martinez and Gianluigi Donnarumma suggestions The Red Devils have been linked to both keepers this summer even though neither deal looks particularly likely at this stage. Neville put forward these two names as possible solutions to the keeping crisis and stated, 'the reason I think they would be good goalkeepers for Man Utd is not necessarily because they are the best goalkeepers in Europe, but they are big personalities and characters.' He added, 'you've seen Donnarumma in a European final save those penalties for Italy. He looked like a giant. He's played for PSG in huge games under pressure. Martinez has played in the World Cup final and won it for Argentina.' The former defender stated that both have the arrogance and confidence to play for a team like United. Neville praised Amorim's influence on the team, claiming they are a now side that could do something but that any progress will continually be undermined if they do not bring in a keeper. He stated, 'when the goalkeeper is flapping at the ball, those 72,000 home fans are groaning and that sends a shiver through the spines of defenders. It also sends a shiver through the goalkeeper and creates an anxiety around the stadium.' Neville finished by claiming, 'you've got to have personality, stability and character in that position, and Man Utd are going to have to deal with it in the next couple of weeks.'
