First Serve of the Season: Tickets Available Now for the Pro Padel League's 2025 Opening Event in Miami
PPL, the world's top professional padel league, will bring the best padel players in the world from all 10 teams – Arkansas Matrix, Cancun Waves, Flowrida Goats, Houston Volts, Las Vegas Smash, Los Angeles Beat, Miami Padel Club, New York Atlantics, San Diego Stingrays, Toronto Polar Bears – to Wayfair Arena, a world-class venue that plays home to Unrivaled basketball league on the campus of Mediapro's state-of-the-art production studios in Miami.
Each team will compete in two (2) Group Stage matches across three (3) days: Thursday, June 19; Friday, June 20; and Saturday, June 21. The top four (4) teams in each division (men's and women's) based on group stage performance will qualify for and compete in Podium Day on Sunday, June 22 to determine the PPL Miami champions.
Ticket prices start at $35 for single-session general admission and include access to signature Miami food and beverage. VIP tickets include exclusive reserved courtside seating, VIP-only lounge access, premium Miami food and beverage, plus preferred parking. Multi-day and multi-session general admission and VIP packages are also available.

Podium Day:
Sunday, June 22: Podium placement matches starting at 11:00 AM ET to determine the PPL Miami champions.
All matches follow a fast-paced format — best-of-three sets with unique padel rules like "Golden Point" scoring and a 10-point tiebreaker in place of a full third set.
The PPL season will include men's, women's and overall team standings determined by total points accumulated. Points are awarded based on the finishing position in the men's and women's divisions at each event. Overall team points at each event will be the sum of a team's men's and women's points earned.

The top eight teams in the overall points standings at the end of the regular season will see its men's and women's teams qualify for the PPL City's Cup, a single-elimination playoff to determine the champion for each division and an overall champion based on total points accumulated.

College Football CFP Committee Placing More Emphasis on Teams' Strength of Schedule This Year Published Aug. 20, 2025 2:54 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link The College Football Playoff selection committee announced Wednesday it will place more emphasis on strength of schedule this year when determining which teams make the 12-team field. The committee said in a statement that the schedule strength metric has been adjusted to apply greater weight to games against strong opponents. An additional metric, record strength, has been added to go beyond a team's schedule strength to assess how a team performed against that schedule. "This metric rewards teams defeating high-quality opponents while minimizing the penalty for losing to such a team," the committee said. "Conversely, these changes will provide minimal reward for defeating a lower-quality opponent while imposing a greater penalty for losing to such a team." The adjustment to the evaluation process comes after some in the SEC complained about last season's inclusion of — at the time of selections — an 11-2 SMU of the ACC over a 9-3 Alabama or even a 9-3 South Carolina or 9-3 Ole Miss. ADVERTISEMENT SMU's losses were to an unranked BYU and a ranked Clemson in the ACC Championship Game. Alabama had bad losses against Vanderbilt and Oklahoma, both .500 at the time, but also had wins over second-ranked Georgia, No. 21 Missouri and No. 14 LSU. Prompted by concerns about how teams that don't play in conference championship games are judged, the committee reviewed the movement of idle teams from the second-to-last ranking to the final ranking. The selection committee reaffirmed that movement in the final week should be evidence-based and did not recommend creating a formal policy prohibiting such movement. The committee also updated its policy on recusal of selection committee members. A member will be fully recused from the evaluation of a team if he or she receives direct compensation from the school in question or has an immediate family member who is a football player, football staff member or senior administrator at the school. A fully recused member is not allowed to participate in any deliberations or vote concerning that school. A member will be partially recused if he or she has a secondary relationship with the school in question, such as an immediate family member employed by the institution but outside the football program or senior administration. A partially recused member may remain present and participate in discussions related to the team in question but is not allowed to participate in votes involving the team. The selection committee will release its five weekly Top 25 rankings on Nov. 4. The final rankings and playoff field will be announced Dec. 7. Reporting by The Associated Press. Where ESPN's 'College GameDay' will be in Week 0
The wait for the 2025 college football season is finally ending. The season begins with a Week 0 clash between No. 21 Iowa State and No. 20 Kansas State in Dublin, Ireland, at noon ET on Saturday, Aug. 23. Unlike last year, ESPN's beloved college football pregame show "College GameDay" will not be airing from Dublin, Ireland, in Week 0. Instead, ESPN is scheduled to have an episode of "SportsCenter" at 9 a.m. ET and then "College Football Countdown" at 10 a.m. ET. Fans wanting more college football coverage can also tune into a preseason edition of the "Herbie Awards" on ESPN2 at 9 a.m. ET. College football fans will have to wait until Week 1 for the return of GameDay, which will be hosting Lee Corso's final show during ahead of the No. 1 Texas Longhorns at No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes game on Saturday, Aug. 30. GameDay's 2025 season coverage will begin at 9 a.m. ET on Aug. 30 from Columbus, Ohio, on ESPN. Lee Corso, Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee all serve as analysts for GameDay. It is unclear why GameDay is not attending the Iowa State vs. Kansas State game, but we suspect it is to limit the amount of travel the hosts have to do over the course of the season. Flights to Dublin are over six and 1/2 hours from New York City and Dublin has a five hour time difference from the East Coast. College football's expanded playoff and schedule meant that GameDay hosted 22 different shows last year, which is far more than GameDay attended in previous years.
