Uttar Pradesh: Dalit farmer, his family assaulted for objecting to cattle being grazed in field
A Dalit farmer and his family were assaulted in Anaich village of Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi district after he objected to a person grazing cattle in his field, PTI reported on Sunday.
Six persons were booked for the assault.
The incident took place on Friday morning when Deepak Kumar Pasi, a landless Dalit farmer who cultivates black gram on a sharecropping basis in a villager's field, objected to another villager named Rajaram Yadav grazing cattle there, said the police.
Rajaram Yadav, in retaliation, assaulted Pasi, his wife Sumitra, his elder brother and his mother.
'When Deepak complained about Rajaram Yadav's cattle grazing in his field, Rajaram became enraged,' PTI quoted Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik as having said. 'He hurled at Deepak casteist slurs and with the help of others beat him with sticks and iron rods.'
In his complaint, Pasi also alleged that the attackers dragged Sumitra by her hair across the field, beat her and disrobed her, according to the news agency.
All four were taken to the hospital. Deepak and Sumitra were seriously injured, PTI reported.
Based on Pasi's complaint, the police booked Rajaram Yadav, along with Dilajeet Yadav, Arvind Yadav, Rajendra Yadav, Parvati Devi and Tara Devi.

Automatically enabled for all Airtel mobile and broadband customers, the advanced system scans and filters links across SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, e-mail, and other browsers. It leverages real-time threat intelligence to examine over 1 billion URLs daily and blocks access to harmful sites in under 100 milliseconds, said the Airtel in a press release. For instance, if a resident in Salem receives a suspicious message that reads: 'Your package is delayed. Track it here: And if the unsuspecting resident then clicks on the link, Airtel's system also clicks into gear. It instantly scans the link and if flagged as suspicious, it blocks access. The user is redirected to a warning message that reads: 'Blocked! Airtel found this site dangerous!' All this instantaneously. This real-time interception prevents users from falling victim to all kinds of frauds. Tarun Virmani, CEO-Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Bharti Airtel, said that at a time when digital threats were becoming more advanced and widespread, the need for a strong and dependable secure mobile network was more essential than ever. Commenting at the event, Sandeep Mittal, Additional Director General of Police, Cyber Crime Wing, said: 'We are pleased that the Airtel team informed us and offered a comprehensive overview of their initiative for fraud detection solutions, detailing its goals and operational methodology.'

Puri Jagannath temples servitor murdered, body found on roadside
Last Updated: Puri, Jun 11 (PTI) An 83-year-old servitor of the Jagannath temple in Puri was allegedly murdered on Wednesday, police said. The body of Jagannath Dixit (83), who was a 'supakar' (cook) at the temple, was found in a pool of blood at Rabeni Choura in Gudiashahi, they said. The incident happened amid tight security arrangements for the 'Snan Jatra' festival at the temple. 'Prima facie, it seems to be a case of murder. It could be due to personal enmity. We are probing the incident," SP Vinit Agarwal said. A CCTV footage showed a man leaving Dixit's body on the roadside, police said. Sonam Raghuvanshi's brother cuts ties with her, ‘100%' sure she is guilty
Sonam Raghuvanshi's brother claimed on Wednesday that he was sure his sister had orchestrated the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi and stated that he had cut all ties with her, reported news agency PTI. Govind Raghuvanshi, the brother of the woman accused of killing her husband, expressed solidarity with the grieving family of Indore-based Raja and said that his sister should be hanged if found guilty of the crime. Sonam surfaced in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur on Sunday night where she surrendered after her accomplices and suspected contract killers, 19-year-old Akash Rajput, 22-year-old Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi, were arrested for their alleged role in conspiring and killing Raja. 21-year-old Raj Singh Kushwaha, who was romantically linked to Sonam, was arrested later. Police officials stated that Raja Raghuvanshi was told by his wife Sonam that she would let him consummate the marriage only after making an offering at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. Sonam and her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha allegedly plotted to kill him in the jungles of Meghalaya due to their secluded nature. They killed him near Weisawdong Falls and dumped his body into a gorge. Sonam and her aides have been remanded to eight days of police custody by a local court.
