Sonam and four of her aides were arrested last month, after being accused of killing her husband during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. 29-year-old Raja and 24-year-old Sonam got married on May 11 and went "missing" during their honeymoon trip to Meghalaya on May 23.
Sonam surfaced in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur on Sunday night where she surrendered after her accomplices and suspected contract killers, 19-year-old Akash Rajput, 22-year-old Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi, were arrested for their alleged role in conspiring and killing Raja.
21-year-old Raj Singh Kushwaha, who was romantically linked to Sonam, was arrested later.
Police officials stated that Raja Raghuvanshi was told by his wife Sonam that she would let him consummate the marriage only after making an offering at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati.
Sonam and her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha allegedly plotted to kill him in the jungles of Meghalaya due to their secluded nature. They killed him near Weisawdong Falls and dumped his body into a gorge.
Sonam and her aides have been remanded to eight days of police custody by a local court.

Steel businessman, wife, daughter & driver killed in car crash on Jhansi-Kanpur highway
Lucknow: Four people, a steel businessman, his wife, their daughter, and the driver, were killed in a high-speed car crash on the Jhansi-Kanpur highway near Khilli village late Wednesday. The businessman's father and three children were seriously injured in the accident and are currently undergoing treatment. The accident occurred when an XUV700 vehicle, travelling at an estimated speed of 80–90 km/h, lost control and rammed into a divider before overturning. The family was returning to Maharashtra after celebrating Bakrid in their hometown Siddharthnagar. The deceased have been identified as Ubaidur Rahman (43), a Maharashtra-based steel businessman, his wife Ashma (40), their daughter Usna Parveen (15), and their driver Amir (45). According to eyewitnesses, the impact was so severe that the vehicle was crushed, leaving all eight occupants trapped inside. Local residents, alerted by the cries for help, rushed to the spot and attempted to rescue the family. Driver Amir was found critically wedged between the steering wheel and bonnet. Despite frantic efforts and the arrival of a JCB machine to break open the car, Amir succumbed after nearly an hour of being trapped. Meanwhile, the injured — Ubaidur's father Shahbuddin (70), sons Abdullah Bahadur Rahman (10) and Aneedur Rahman (8), and daughter Eshya (6) — were rushed to a nearby Community Health Centre (CHC). Their condition is stated to be serious but stable. The bodies of the deceased were kept at the hospital morgue awaiting the arrival of family members. SP, Jhansi, BBGTS Murthy, said that preliminary investigations suggest the accident may have been caused by driver's fatigue. Ubaidur's friend Mahbulla, who was travelling in a separate vehicle towards Mumbai, said, "I was ahead of them in my car. I suspect the driver might have dozed off. I've informed the family — they're on their way." Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Sonam made 30 calls to lover in week leading up to husband's killing
Lucknow: Investigations into the murder of Indore's Raja Raghuvanshi have revealed that his wife Sonam was in regular touch with her lover Raj Kushwaha on phone till her husband's murder on May 23. In all, Sonam made 30 calls between May 16 and 23 to Raj Kushwaha, some lasting barely 30 seconds while some of a minute's duration. The calls were made at odd hours and the two exchanged messages through WhatsApp and other app-based messaging facilities almost round the clock. Call detail records (CDRs) accessed by the investigators confirm a pattern of frequent, strategic communication. Police are currently analysing message backups, app data, and location histories to establish the full extent of the conspiracy and premeditation behind the murder plot. Sources said the digital trail confirms that Sonam began coordinating with Raj on May 15, the same day the two allegedly met at a café near her home in Nandbagh, Indore—just four days after her wedding to Raja. Investigators believe this sustained digital contact was not mere communication but a carefully planned conspiracy. Police allege that Sonam paid ₹50,000 to Raj Kushwaha to fund the travel of three men—Vishal, Akash, and Anand—tasked with following the newlywed couple to Shillong. The accused trio reportedly left Indore between May 17 and 18, travelling first to Delhi by train and then boarding the Rajdhani Express to Guwahati. Meanwhile, Sonam and Raja boarded a flight from Indore to Shillong on May 20. During this time, Sonam allegedly kept Kushwaha updated with live location sharing, enabling the accused to track the couple in real-time. Police suspect that this coordination ultimately led to the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi on or around May 23. Investigators are now examining message backups, app data, GPS logs, and deleted files to reconstruct the events leading to the crime and establish the extent of premeditation and criminal conspiracy. Police sources indicate more arrests may follow as the digital footprint of the accused continues to unravel. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
